Still a solid device in 2018 while taking into a consideration that it is a 2 year old phone, I can easily recommend it because overall it is still really good - has a very comfortable placements of the finger print scanner, has dual front facing speakers, good performance, up-to date software and etc :)
When the XZ came out it was certainly not as impressive as competing devices based on specs.... And if you take asking price into consideration, it quickly became ludicrous...
HOWEVER, after some month and the newer "s" version, the asking price for the european version (Dual Sim, 64GB, Fingerprint Enabled) can be found at less than $500 on Amazon. This price is very interesting because you are actually getting your money worth.
I am coming from an Xperia Z3 Compact and this is my first "Big" phone and it feels unwieldy, however the curved sides and flat bottom makes it comfortable to hold in one hand. I do miss the eyelet hole for wrist strap found in older Xperias, but the Ringke Fusion case solved that issue.
What I can't comment is the experience on this with an older Android version, because I immediately upgraded to the latest one. Which allegedly has worse battery life, but I really couldn't tell...
On my second day of use (after everything settled down) I got around 4 hours of SOT with a huge drain of "Phone Idle" service... However I expect this to either solve itself or fix with a firmware version. Either way, I managed to get a full day of use, from 6:30AM to 11:30PM without plugging it.
I took a point from build quality because the SIM/microSD tray is very flimsy.
The UI speed is ok, but sometimes is not as fluid as I expected.
The camera is AWESOME, a tad noisy in dark environments, however, if you know a little bit of photography, leaning it against something and using manual mode with a slow shutter create incredible pics.
I will update later on and elaborate more on each topic of this review.
So far, I like it a lot (I don't love it, but it is a great overall device)
The Best Phone I ever Used In Terms OF All
Fast Updates Faster Than Samsung.Who Is Going To Need This Cute Boy.The One Who's Usage Is Just Like An iPhone.Probably This Will Be Your Next Android Device.First Of All The Design. OHHH Its Mind Blowing A Tiny Sexy Boy. Thanks Sony So Making This A Wonderful Device
While the Xperia X Performance brought a lot of disappointments, the Xperia XZ seems to solve all those problems. The build quality is superb while the downside is that sides of the phone are made up of plastic which may not make the phone premium for its price, but it brings some durability.
Software wise, the phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with a near stock experience.
I did not find any drop test but fortunately mine survived 3 already without a mark
the design is changed and Sony have finally removed the factory installed screen protector that always got scratched and looked bad, now this is lovely without any protector.
Good phone, build quality is second to non. Battery is too small for todays phones, and lack of fingerprint reader for US is a deal breaker for this phone. Screen is nice and crisp, camera is great.
Xperia XZ is one of the best flagship's out there & Sony has given a wonderful phone for people looking for a quality product.
Gorgeous Display, Powerful Processor, 23 MP Amazing main camera & 13 MP secondary camera.
