I "upgraded" from my three-year old Z3 Compact to the XA1 this month. In summary, the XA1 is plenty fast, can multitask with ease, the screen is nice, the build quality is beautiful, and the camera is excellent - although I have several peeves with it as well. Audio from the speakers is not loud enough and sounds pretty bad. The dedicated camera shutter button (which is the main feature that keeps me going back to Sony) is too mushy with no feedback, compared to my Z3, which you could press halfway to focus, then all the way to shoot the pic. The phone charges reallllly slowly, and battery life is average at best. And Sony's excellent Xperia keyboard is not compatible with this phone for some reason - it ships with Swift Key, which is not nearly as good as the Xperia keyboard. So while performance is good, there are a few issues I have that really detract from the overall experience. But if you want a not-huge, mid-range phone with a great camera, this is one of your only options.
