I bought this phone last year and I'm very, very satisfied. All of its features are working properly and I haven't got any problems. I can only say that this is an excellent phone and I highly recommend it to everyone. Don't let anyone discourage you and make you doubt about getting this phone!
I absolutely love this phone. I've had it for almost a year and its still running perfectly fine. The only thing that happened is my buttons cracked because I text way too much and my space stopped working, but its not a problem to me. I'm getting a new phone but I definitely will keep this one for music and the camera, its one of the best I've found on a phone. I even considered getting this one again, but I text so much I need a qwerty keypad. But this phone is amazing. And ive dropped it soo many times, still runs perfect.
To Marti it isnt good or bad luck. This phone is a POS I work for att and this phone is my number one call I have to exchange this phone 15 times a day out 0f 40 calls. The keypad breaks the buttons fall off. I would never buy this phone. Get the propel or any other samsung phone. They are the best.
I've had this phone in 3 months now, and it works fine. Nothing is broken. (:
I don't think there is something wrong with the phone. It's just godd and bad luck. (:
The phone is very good, i've had it for a year now... I have dropped it about 987345 times and it's still working very good...
i guess you just got to be lucky :D
I've had this phone for about a year. Dropped it several times a week, and accidentally dropped it in a mud puddle. Still works great. No cracked keys or anything else that everyone else talks about.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!
This phone looks good and like a cool phone but it really is a cheap phone!! all my buttons have split in half and FALLEN OFF within three weeks of having this! this is not a good phone for everyone let alone texters!!!
If you have issues with the cracked keys of his w580 phone from sony erickson and if you are an at&t subscriber pls. do call 1800 801 1101.. that is the warranty service center of at&t so that we can evaluate if the phone is still under warranty.. If your device has no liquid or any physical damage, just dont hesistate to call at&t.. and by the way pls. ensure that the phone has not been dropped, damaged or exposed to liquid.
you would need to remove the back cover and battery of the phoen and get the IMEI number of the phone and look for a square punchwhole sticker on the middle of the back of the phone and see for its color. be sure that the metal prongs on the phone ha no corrosion. pls ensure that the phone has no deep scratches.
So long as the terms and conditions of the exchange process is good ther will be no charges at all. pls. be asvised that when you call at&t will only proces a like for like exchange.. the same make/model shall be sent out
Dont buy this phone it is the worst phone ever. I work for att warranty exchange and this phone is by far the worst phone i have had to deal with. If you buy this phone keep this number handy 1-800-801-1101. You will need it in the future trust me. STAY AWAY.
I've had the phone for about 6 months. The buttons are wobbly but mine haven't cracked yet. I don't like the camera because it is landscape not like my old w810i where it was portrait. You have to press up and down to zoom on the camera and 1 and 3 to zoom when you are just viewing a picture instead of the volume buttons. When I got it the sim card was stuck in and i couldnt get it out for about an hour. I had pushed it in with a pen thinking it would spring out but it just got stuck and on the screen it said that the sim wasn't inserted so i couldnt use it until i managed to get the simcard out and put it back in. But it's been quite good since then. The lights on the side stay yellow if i go on the walkman twice unless i set the theme that changes the colour whenever i go on the menu. I think the theme is called strobe. It's cool that you can change the skins on walkman. I like the phone though. The battery life didnt seem to be very good in the first 2 weeks of having the phone but after than it has been good (maybe because i haven't been using it as much as when i first got it). I like the phone now though. To me the only bad thing is the way the camera and viewing pictures is set out. Oh and also the fitness thing is quite good and useful if you go jogging and you can see how many steps you've done each day.
I have had to replace this phone TWICE in less than a year, bad thing is AT&T could care less and just keeps giving me a "new" phone. The screen locks up. Buttons seem to be cross wired. Depends on if it is your lucky day or not if you can actually answer a call, most of the time I have to call the person calling me back. Im not at all satisfied with this phone, it would be great if it actually worked. It has lots of bells and whistles, just not ones that actually "chime".
i have the w580 in pink. and for a while i thought the phone was great until the battery satarted dying in an hour time period and the service signal started dropping. also even if it rains just the slightest bit or down poor it messes up the screen. my screen is all water damaged and doesnt even work anymore!! im never getting this phone again it is just terrible. and sound quality when you is speaker phone FORGET about it you can hardly hear the other person!
The keys crack on the phone but Sony will fix it. I've also had minor problems with the camera. Battery life is definitly not close to the time it boast. Overall, this is my favorite phone at&t is selling. I would definitly look into the 850 or 810 more than this though.
if you have AT&T this phone is your worst nightmare this phone looks good out of the box but soon after... the buttons get little cracks in them the reception sucks, the headset breaks, the little flip thing whree your memory card goes gets stuck open. the battery cover is a pain to get off, to turn it on you have to push the button like 10 times, half the time the bittons dont work, the screen freezes and thats about it this phone is worse thatn the w300i
I have this phone. Quality wise in calls and features, it's nice, very crisp and clean. But, I'm not fan of the button layout on the front. The location of the Walkman application button and the internet buttons are frustrating, because they're easily pressed. Even when the phone is shut and the buttons are locked, they get activated. I set up a fake proxy so that the phone wouldn't activate the internet while it was in my pocket, and I constantly accidentally activate them when text messaging (using direction pad in the center, if I press to hard on the left or right or bottom it activated the Walkman/Internet buttons.)
If there is away to deactivate these buttons, I would love to hear it. I don't use them and they're a crux in the design. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the phone.
Well for this phone to be so cute its not the best workin phone at all. This phone has a PPRODUCT ADVISORY that no one really knows about see the stupid keys on this phone gets worn and breaks easily sometimes they even fall off,so this is why this phone when from bein a high priced phone to bein also free on these At&t commercials, its not worth it dont buy it!!!
I work for att warranty exchange. We will replace the phone if the keys are cracked because the manufacture put out a product advisory on this device. It seems that it happens more to the black phones. Please dont be rude when u call in and we will be nice to u. If u r rude no one wants to help u.

I am going to get the new Ericcson W678, which is supposed to hit japanese markets around april, and then america in november- or jan 09. i can wait, just because this phone has been worthy
Unlike some of the other posts, the keypads on the newer phones aren't actually supposed to crack, since the paint on them has been changed. Mine hasn't yet and I've had it for quite a while, got it in November.
very very popular phone, once we recieve a shipment of these in the store, they are usually sold out the very same day guys check out my page for any questions you may have reguarding at&t, or if you are already at&t customers or if your looking to switch to at&t

ok i got this phone for christmas. i wanted it as soon as i seen it. i love pretty much everything about it, except the battery life. i dont know if its because i didnt fully charge it before using it (thats what they recommend) but it seems to die pretty quickly. i do use it alot though so maybe thats why. anyways another problem i had was with the placement of the charge area/headphones input. its kind hard to hold it comfortablly. all in all its a great phone though.
Just took w580 SE handset today.Seems to have gud sound quality
But....doesn't work with my service provider i.e. BSNL, India
For BSNL sim card, it doesn't read sim card and so unable to use.
didn't expect such poor design from Sony ericsson. Also zoom feature doesn't work in night mode camera. Also Normal image can't be zoomed at all. Poor camera features.
had the fone 3 weeks sent just over 1000 texts and the number 6 button had already cracked. battery life poor and doesnt last a full day. had better fones and wudnt recommend it
Excellent sound quality and volume. I find the speakers in front are actually and advantage. Only problem is the battery life, but i have been reducing screen brightness to 60% in all my SE mobiles, which increases the battery life considerably. Options are slightly limited when it comes to connectivity, though, as there is no infrared port or 3G connectivity. The positioning of the volume buttons turns out to be more handy than the old positioning, but the plug for the headset tends to get in the way of your fingers when typing an sms or keying in a number, as it is on the side. The only other problem with this phone is that the number pad is rather fragile. Otherwise, it is one of the best phones i have ever purchased.
