I've had my Star for about 6 months now and I'm quite happy with it. Battery life is good (if people say it isn't then they're probably walking around with Wifi and Bluetooth radios turned on which explains that!).Screen is very clear, and sound is excellent.I like the OS, and the midlets are good, although I hope lost more arrive.One negative is that I find with certain providers, when roaming, that an application requiring internet access causes the phone to reboot! By disabling the app this problem goes away.I'm guessing it's a software problem, so we'll wait and see what happens if/when Samsung update it.

Most of the people who has n samsung star think it is a bad phone but then there comes other guys and say its a great phone and has no problems.. i dont have 1 problem with my star and im satisfied.. so before blaming the phone first see what YOU did wrong.. the phone can't work the one day and the next it doesn't.. unless you did something wrong.. so don't blame the phone blame yourself!

the resolution of the cam is so poor , and the image display is so , the phone is slim enough but till now it lack many properties to get in line with i-phone                      .........................................................................................................................................................................

I had this phone over almost one month and It's awesome.Most of the users want a low price phone with the newest technology (in this time it's definetly the touchscreen) and I think that Samsung is the best phone for that.It's very light,small dimensions and the hard keys are easy to press.The in call quality is excellent and thanks to the DNSE (Digital Natural Sound Engine) the ringtones are loud.The menu is standard Samsung base but with more eficency with the touchscreen.But only one thing that I don't like it's that you can't customize your homescreen because you need to have one picture divide in three (because of the three home screen's) for the best perfomance otherwise you will have one picture strecht all over the three home screen.Many users have said that the baterry life is poor but my phone can go on almost 4 days so I don't know where the problem is,maybe samsung has different phones in other country's? (I am from Croatia)Overall this is a awesome low price phone.If you are looking for a low price,nice and stylish phone with trusted features you just found it!

People!!!! There is a correction to be made.......  I had posted a review in which i said that the music player has a problem it stops by itself after a min or 2......... Well the problem was not with the music player but the F***in music files  which i downloaded were bad ...... but i cant put a game or a software in the phone (sad).....they say that samsung has put a lock on it & u have to unlock the phone to use any other free game or free software they expect us to buy every thing from the internet & then use it on the locked phone!!!!!   (but i still love it)...

Hi Guys! I bought this set 1 weak before.. I found it good set.. In short it is good than nokia touch screen. Its good in this price. i have only one problem that i could not install software on it. Messaging is also v v easy on it.

i have saved all my contacts to phone memory.Bt incoming calls, sms dont show the caller id.I live in Srilanka. And when i saved my Friend's contact No as +94771234567 - the sms shows the Id, bt not the incoming calls. If i save my contact as 77123456 my incoming calls show the caller id..bt nt the sms.  if i save as 0771234567, shows nothing.....If some one know wht to do plz reply.Other than this...camera is very blurry since it doesnt have autofocus,music player has some noice.All the other features are really good...battery life is good.

I bought Samsung Star almost a month back & I am very much satisfied with it . It looks lovely (a very bright screen), a good camera (lacks flash but has the other basic functions- zoom , night mode , etc) , does not have WiFi (i dont need it anyway) , the battery back up is great (dont know about anyone else but mine lasts for 3 days!!),  descent  sound quality, touch screen , gesture lock  are good too..... I dropped the phone once after that the camera takes 2 extra! seconds to start (thats my mistake). But the most confusing thing is the phone eats up 2 or 3 seconds of the start of the ring tone music on the first ring ( i have a good transformers ring tone it sounds like optimus prime had a hiccup while saying it ) & the music player stops on its own after a minute (bizarre) then i have to press pause & play again.........  Other than these 2 problems the is great.

I'm going to buy one, but i'm already fascinated! This celphone is perfect! The camera is of 3.2 mp, who needs more? The touchscreen is simply great, and the design is of course the best of ever! Buy this cellphone if you love touchscreen, don't want to become poor after buying your cellphone and if you don't need all those useless (and expensive) things they put on the top ones.

I bought a samsung star 15 days ago. I realised that the phone does not catch network. I have to switch off and on the phone to catch the network :( The service center said it was some software problem...but called me the next day to tell me that the mother board needs to be changed.
Can u believe it in 15 days i had to give my cell for repairs and they said we cannot tell you how long it will take...around 10-15 days!!!!!!!
DONT BUY SAMSUNG STAR :( it sucks!!!

I bought S-5233A two weeks ago. The network/reception vanishes periodically. To get the network back you need to switch off and switch on your phone after every hour or so. Service technicians say that its a software problem in the phone. Sometimes incoming and outgoing calls do not connect despite having full signal strength. I have been using two Vodafone cards for the last five years  on Nokia without any problem. Chnage of phone to Samsung S-5233A has created so many problems.
please check VODAFONE compatibility with this handset before purchase.

I have brought a Stamsung Star S5233A (without 3G) 20 days ago. Till today it works fine. But today suddenly network was gone. No hard wrae damage or stettings modification done. I have tested the sim card that is working fine. I have done twice factory reset(reset all). But network not working. I have tried other service providers sim card, sitll problem exists. I dont know whether this is a hardware problem or software problem. Can you beleave within 20 day Network Problem.
What do you think ? its a problem on phone's Network hard ware or software Problem.
 

hi every one, i just bought it weeks ago. first i thought it looks good and iphone like function, touch screen. Where as sad things is , it has no wi-fi.
after week of using it, i got a problem. i dont know how my samsung star mobile got hanged and i cant operate the cell features as the touch screen is not working. i cant even open the contact list and inbox. if anybody has the solution then plz reply me. i think i have wasted my money and time to this samsung. better i should buy i nokia phone earlier.

its a real cool phone for the money u give...but it has some probs as well...firstly the camera quality is not that gud and it do not have a flash ...den the side keys are annoying...and also it misses wifi..!!
but good lookin screen and a smooth touch interphase...!!

I bought samsung star 3 days ago,initially i was also confused between buying cookie and samsung star but i went with samsung star,my decision was right and samsund star is indeed a good phone better than cookie.star was given bad reviews about its battery life and call outgoing quality all these problems were there in it but in the first batch of the phone second batch is improved one and is the best,its interface is awesome,all the widget are very useful,qwerty keypad is easy to use.sound quality both speaker and headphone is very good with slightly lass bass than the apple i pod.battery life is very good around 9 hrs which is far more than the cookie.it has all pdf viewer,image editor etc etc.... 
i will recommed to but samsung star instead of lg cookie because of its battery life,interface,music quality ,gesture lock,good camera,beautiful screen.and the very best to watch a full movie without recharging.....
i also think that the star has more modern look than cookie 
and of course the stylus that's out dated and till now i haven;t used because there is nothind that cannot be done by fingers,any ways if you want to carry stylus you can because the stylus has a very good finish like a luxury pen with gloss and chrome,
another thing i like i s thatsamsung has a very good service network.atleast in India.
the best way to choose is to visit nearest store and use a live phone model.
 

@ arjuun : Are u sure u have bought the samsung star?????
 The star I have has awesome camera, great music player and 3-4 days battery life with normal usage.. And it have never ever hung on me. The CPU performance is pretty good too. Not the fastest in the market but definitely not slow by any means.
@ arjuun : I suggest you check which phone u own and if it is the Samsung Star you better send it for repairs straight away.

Though it looks goods, it never satisfied me with its performace. First and formost the phone is very slow and slugish. It takes long time to load even basic stuffs. Second, It is very very difficult install any aditional softwares in it, the phone don't support even the most popular softwares. The camera is very poor compared to other phones. The display looks really bright and nice, but it comes at a price, the battery last sparely for 2 days. It also has many software problem, my phone freezes and restarts at least twice a day. If you are looking for a good touch screen phone, the samsung s5230 is not for you, its rather a toy.

it is a very very great phone... the quality is very good and there aren't any poblems... it is cheap, beautiful...     i love this phone !

It's a great phone.. Dont know what the fuss about the in-call sound quality is about? I think its pretty great.. Loud and clear - everything one could hope for...
As for the battery, it lasts 2-3 days with moderate usage. You can optimize it further by changing you sound, vibration and display settings. Personally, I think a charge every other day is reasonable for any cell phone.
The widgets are cool and fun to use. But I wouldnt call them indispensible.
The screen is large and looks awesome. Pictures look great especially in the landscape mode. The auto rotate function works pretty well. The transition is not as smooth as that of an iphone or  the ipod touch but there arent any significant delays either. You will be satisfied with its touch functionality as long as  you dont compare it to an iphone.
The music quality through headphones is very very good comparable if not better than the sony walkman phones or an ipod.
The camera performs pretty well for a budget phone. Samsung could have added wifi at a little extra cost. It would have made the phone more complete. But even without it its awesome for the price at which it comes.
They are bunch of other features like the FM radio, Document Viewer, Games etc which only make it more appealing. However dont expect too many downloads for this phone to be available right away.
You should know that there are the Samsung star differs slightly from country to country. For example, the Samsung Star in India is  GT-S5233A and comes with a dongle stylus where as there are places elsewhere where the stylus fits into the body. This review is for the Samsung Star S5233A and it may not hold  entirely  for all the  other forms of the Samsung  Star.
Overall, it a very trendy, smart phone with all the basic (and non-essential) accessories you would need. It doesnot have any serious flaws. It doesnot crash. I am afraid but the same cannot be said about the LG cookie.

Got this phone one week back.. for 9500 INR in bangalore. Good phone for this price. Good ouch response,Avg sound quality,Its big screen is amzing but we cant see any videos in full screen mode i think. 3.2 M cam is very good ..Totally its a good phone for this price.

this phone is great everything you need for the price. it has three customizible home screens similar to the t-mobile g1 and gesture lock similar to the t-mobile g1. it has useful widgets for google search, youtube, myspace, and types of things. a bright and high quality display , a very good camera and good speakers for music i recomend this phone to anyone that is curious go for it and give it a try.

This phone is much better then the LG cookie. The screen is very well and the widgets are very usefull.
The battery is very good wich is bad scored on this site. The battery can be used very long.

gt this phone 1 month back...was my first touch screen so took some time to adjust..bt now i m jus loin it...good looks..great at usage..decent camera ..and light on and in pocket :)...weight is just perfect for a newgen phone...good buy fr me :)
