This phone counts as a feature phone. It has a 3 in. touchscreen. You get the Samsung TouchWiz. The screen is OK. It sometimes lags. Texting on this phone, is average. Heavy texters might not like the keyboard, It lags sometimes. The buttons are small too. I couldnt text fast. You can also text with the vurtual dialpad and handwriting recognition. The web browser is pretty standard. You dont get a fancy web browser, but it gets the job done. The camera is pretty nice. You get to customize the pictures. Their is A LOT of camera settings. You can do smile detection, panorama, ect. You can decorate them after you are done. The call quality is above average. Overall, if you dont expect much out of a touchscreen phone, get this one
Purchased the phone in jan of 2010. worked fine for a week then the horrors started. it started freezing all the time and the apps wouldnt open. took it back got a new one . samething happened and the new one kept turning off by itself for some strange reason.Touchwiz is boring and you will be sick of it in a week. theres nothing interesting about this phone at all. i Recommend the Nokia nuron 5230 or a nokia e63-2 youll get a way better phone for the price and wont have to deal with what i went threw. Im a proud owner of a nokia E71 now and im never gonna change!!
: I've seen criticism of this phone as not being a true 'smart phone.' I replaced my Motorola rizr with the Highlight. Samsung has a touch screen phone similar to the Highlight for every major cell prover. T-Mobile's version (Highlight) holds its own. It's one of the few they have which doesn't require a data plan, although to add the data plan is only $10 more a month compared to the usual $25-35. You don't need a data plan to get email and some parts of the internet are free, like CNN. There are urls posted on message boards out there which supposedly gives you free internet.
It's a nice phone with good sound quality although the speakerphone quality is lacking. The voice recognition feature is awful, it hardly ever gets it right. It worked well for me on my old Rizr. The handwriting recognition feature is ok for short text messages but you have to practice to get it right. Hint; write with all lower case letters. I loved the delayed answer feature on my rizr but this phone doesn't have it. Delayed answer allowed you to record a greeting like "Hold on, I'll be right with you" when you can't answer a call immediately. All phones should have it. The feedback you feel when you touch the screen is nice but during a call when your move your head while talking, I kept hearing the feedback as blips. Very, very annoying. I had to turn this off-once I figure out what it was! I changed my ringtone to the 'increasing melody' option and didn't like it. But try as I have, I can't get it back to a regular melody.
hi,merry christmas and happy new years.this phone is great because the features is fast and great and the internet is great.to me i think people should get this phone because it is comfortable in the hands, has a nice 3.0camera and it is great.the internet is fast.and it comes with features.so if you read this get it because it is ten times better than the tmobile tap.the t-mobile tap is terrible.it is slow, the internet is not that great, the camera is blurry and you cant really see it and it is hard to text message. the reason why i said it hard to text is because you have to push the letter and numbers real hard because it is not sensitive.and it is weak so get the highlight.
The highlight is overall a nice phone. If your the type that dosent want something old and not high tech at all and if your not the type to have a really high tech phone then this is your type of phone. The highlight has some nice apps but not many. Samsung should relly try and create a app store for all phones. The real web browsing is really good and handy. The camera is ok but not as good as the behold's. It's screen is pretty cool too.
