I gave this phone a fair chance. I purchased it on 5/18, however after using it for 3 weeks, I have come to the conclusion this phone basically sucks! The touch screen is non responsive at times, and you will often hit the wrong keys. In order to retrieve voicemail, you have to press the unlock key before typing in your VM password, which is annoying. There are too many options to go through in order to find a contact. I'm taking the phone back and getting the LG enV2, and not dealing with a touch screen ever again. It seemed cool in the store, but once I started using it, I realized it wasn't for me.
okay, so i bought this phone and it came out to be 290.00.
at first i lovedd itt, but after a while these are the problems i had.
1) the sound quality is horrible, i couldnt hear it ring at all!
2) the touch screen is pretty bad too, you have to hit it a couple of times before it actually goes through.
3) this phone is SLOW. especially if you want to send a text message!
4) the QUERTY keyboard is kinda small
5) it gets extrememly bad reception
6) whenever i would be holding it or it was in my pocket or something it would always call someone, even if i had it locked, i would look at teh phone and it would say i was a having a five minute conversation with the person!
after about three weeks i returned this phone and got a full money refund.
i would not recommend this phone to anyone.
This Phone is Great If all you wonna do is have A phone that looks the part. Verizon didn't even try with this phone. I owned this phone for about 2 days and after almost slamming it off the ground 100 times a decided it would be best to return this piece of CRAP. Not only can you not here the Ring Tones, but the touch screen is about as responsive as a Def Dog. This phone is great If you like the kind of touch screen interface you have to hit 6 times, then after it finally response, you have to back out of were it decided to take you and start all over again. VERIZON GIVE ME A BREAK, BETTER LUCK WITH THE LG DARE, (NOT HOLDING MY BREATH ON THAT ONE). I guess if I want a good touch screen interface I'll have to go to ATT.
I got this phone and it seemed fine, i like a very sensitive touchscreen so i turned it all the way up and i was satisfied. I didnt' have that many problems with the touch screen only a few mishaps with choosing the wrong thing. I personally believe that touchscreens are something you have to master, with the right amount of pressure, angle of touch, and being PATIENT. It really wasn't very laggy, and does a pretty good job. The thing i hate the most about the phone, is the signal reception, if you dont hold it right, you loose a bar or two.
PS remember that the screen is capacitive so you have to use bare hands to operate!!!
by far the best phone out there...
i don't know what people were expecting...an i-phone? wtf?!
stop whining already.
i have had this phone for a week now. I like it! The slide out keyboard is pretty cool..i have no problems typing..though the function key (for numbers and symbols) takes some getting used to.
the ringer volume is so-so. I find if you set it on different tones...the volume gets better/worse.
the touch screen takes some getting used to..but you can set the sensitivity. You can also set-up the menus/shortcuts.
i highly recommend locking the screen when you are talking on the phone...it means you do have to hit 2 buttons when you hang up. big deal..takes two seconds.
the cam is decent...not the best..but decent for a cell phone cam.
i haven't put in a memory card yet..so not sure how easy it is to find.
the web browser is full html-so thats cool..easy with the key board.
so over all i like this phone. a nice intro to touch screen and quite snazzy looking.
HORRIBLE PHONE!
thank u for given me a new Samsung phone
Okay so i just got this phone, and truthful its really good, not great but good. The reason why its good it the touch feature is good, i like it better than the voyedger and it cost way less! The voyedger is like $350 minus all the promos it comes out to $250 for me, but the glyde with all the same promos i got for $150. The money i saved, ill use towards the features like internet which is pretty good. i upgraded from the Old LG V (the phone before the enV) and it been a sorta easy transaction. The keyboards are different and the key are way closer. i can no longer type without looking.=/.ahaha.ill get use to it and so will you.um the only downfall i think is the ringtones.i was pretty upset that Sony Music Box was the only way to get ringtones.theres no VZW Tones or n e thing just sony and i hate that program the ringtones suck and its so hard to use. The touch somtimes doesnt respond, but it just needs to get to know you ahha.um sound, sounds great i like it. its way light also. for the price its a great phone.o and people said it doesnt vibrate when you touch, and it does theres a setting for that.
I love it. EVERYTHING works for me. Couldn't be happier!
God, I don't know what people were expecting from this phone. It is great. The touch screen works fine, and all the features rock. And this phone is just an awsome device to own. Just stop complaining about things you probably made up, and realize that this phone is great. Perfect 10!
I really am not an expert on phones, but I just love this phone. Its features are great, and I love having a touch screen. Also, no one has it where I live, so I feel special. I think everyone giving it poor reviews are picky and like making awsome phones sound horrible. This phone is great, and a nice Voyager alternative. Anyone will like it.
Seriously...why all the negative hype for this phone? This is the best phone I've ever had. I've had zero problems with the touch screen and zero problems texting. I've also been told that I have abnormally large hands/fingers but I still had no problem holding this phone constantly. Once I adjusted all the phone navigation schemes to my liking, everything felt great. Surfing the Internet works great...it's nice and speedy with great load times. I experienced no trouble accessing the information I need, such as the latest sports scores and weather updates. Definitely worth the purchase.
STOP!!!.. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!.. I had nothing but problems with this phone and returned it after using it for a week. I had nothing but problems with the touch-screen. It lagged, and was completely buggy. I would touch on something at the bottom of the screen, and the button at the top would be chosen. Also, all it takes to unlock the phone is a slight touch of the large square "padlock" icon. It would constantly get pushed in my pocket, and unlock, and it would actually start calling people. It called at least 5 people just in the one week I had it.
If this is something you want, go for it. But I would say save your money...
Design:
Love the slide, has a durable feel for a touchscreen phone keyboard is fairly easy to use. Touch screen dose take getting used to and works fair though improvement is needed. I would like to see it larger, about the size of the I-Phone and keyboard larger with the slide. But I am a big guy. I too often touch the wrong icon on the touch screen and the response is unpredictably slow at times.
Features: Camera is very good, love the auto focus and quality for a phone. Qwerty keyboard is a must. Navigation, e-mail, music player, internet, text, pic, and video messaging ALL cool features. Expandable SD-MI memory is quite nice, you now 8gs isn't going to stay the limit. ONLY VCast video COME ON. Can't get e-mail pics or use most of the links in e-mail, fairly lame.
Sound Quality: Good sound during conversation or listening to music over provided speaker though distortion at full volume. Good sound over headphones. There was occasional static with bluetooth ear piece but that could be the ear piece it's self.
Signal Strength: GREAT, best phone I have had for that. I work in a warehouse and am able to get signal in areas couldn't with any previous phone I have had.
Value: Compared to the price of other touch screens I have seen for the features this is a great phone.
I got this phone a week ago and will be keeping it for it dose what I need and I do like it well. I hope there will be some updates to improve it though.
My wish list: A larger screen "I-Phone" Larger keyboard "Voyager" in a slider "Glyde". Better response to the touch screen. The screen turning with the phone "I-Phone" would be very cool though not necessary. Videos over the internet as well as VCast is a must if you ask me. And view Pics as well as use links from e-mail would make this I think very close to if not the perfect phone.
I've been waiting for this to come out for quite some time, and now I finally have one, I am quite pleased with my purchase. Easy to navigate, once you adjust the sensitivity, full HTML browser is nice. The screen is a little narrow. Could have gone with a bit wider one, but the zoom on the on the web browser is handy! Slid open, the "shortcut keys" on the main screen are the only thing that rotate as to be viewed from the slide out keyboard. The background image stays sideways, which is kind of annoying, but hey. The keyboard is great. Awesome feel. Buttons are a little closer than i would have liked, but I'm packin' a fist full of breakfast links. All in all, a great phone from what I can tell so far.
This phone is awful, maybe I just have a bad one but the touch screen is so bad. Items get selected without me even touching them, when I do touch the selections it picks the wrong selection very very often. This phone has not perfected the touch screen at all. The phone also locks right away when making selections for example when you call voicemail the phone then locks so you have to unlock to enter your passcode and then it selects the wrong numbers and I end up having to sometimes call my voicemail from a landline. Returning it tomorrow after two weeks.
short review, but i love this phone. it's awesome. it takes a little while to get used to the touch screen but its awesome.. i only rated it a perfect ten to get the rating up, it doesn't deserve to be that low
I love this phone! It DOES have vibration by the way. It works awsome. I use the internet all the time. IT is $100 dollars cheaper than teh Voyager! That's a deal. I love this phone!
I am coming from a very ugly, bad, and cheap phone, so it is easy to give thid phone a perfect score. I got it when it was $100 less than the Voyager, so this phone was ideal, and it still is. Get it. You won't be dissapointed.
After all the bashing on this phone, I still think it is great. I didn't want a brick llike the Voyager, and this is what I chose instead. I adore it!
After everyone has been saying this phone stinks, I am here to say ARE YOU CRAZY?! It is awsome. It is small, but with a big screen, and it has everything! I love it.
This phone is really cool. I wanted a touch screen phone that wasn't so big like the Voyager, so I got this. It is fantastic. I reccomend it to everyone.
Well...I had the Voyager for about 4 months and within those 4 months had to change it 4 times due to hardware glitches...the Verizon rep suggested that I try another phone and so here I am with the Samsung Glyde...
I can't say that I'm extremely happy...I mean coming from the Voyager it is a transition...not a fairly huge one though. The phone and keyboard is smaller and takes some getting use to....I think the thing that is turning me off about this phone so far is the way that the text messaging interface looks...it's a bit boring 2 me and the fact that I can't view YouTube from the mobile site makes me a tad bit angry! I mean...phones that came out WAY...like YEARS before this one can do it...so this one definantly should.
I'm trying my best to adjust to this phone. It is a nice phone as far as touch screen capabilities go. I didn't think that the Volume was 2 bad...I mean on Myxer I just set it a little louder when I customized my ringtones and it works for me. I'm hoping that the next firmware update will fix the problem of the YouTube thing along with the smaller glitches...
However, it's a decent phone...and it serves its purpose.
first off i dont see what people are being all upset about aside from the volume issue. im sure that will get improved later. my only issue is with people and their horrible comments.. what is `the glyde is about to glyde away` coooorny~ haha.. anyways the phone is fine. what more do you expect from a PHONE?!
