An okay phone, but in need of something.. more.
Phone owned for more than a year

The phone is overall an amazing piece of work when bought a year after release. Although it's regarded as a "brick" and has a decent processor to power it, it's fairly expensive upon release.

After purchasing this phone around May of 2013, the phone was 250. When I first got to it, the UI was decent enough. Maybe 30 fps across in general usage. There was some bloatware due to Samsung and the carrier, Virgin-Mobile, that can be difficult to deactivate due to the Android version at the time. So it stuck on for a couple years until it was possible to remove AND disable.

The build itself is pretty good. Having used it until December of 2015, the phone has been dropped numerous times on solid concrete repeatedly, on average, 15% of those drops were unintentional. The phone is built like a brick and acts like one. Screen has never cracked but has been grinded on concrete to scratch.

The camera is very well, at 5 mp, it can comparably do better than some 8 mp cameras due to software it comes with. Able to record 720p decently. Microphone is a solid 8/10

The battery life.. Hard to even think of where to begin. It's absolutely garbage. I've "burned" through 2 OEM batteries and now on my third 3250mah battery which barely pulls through my normal 9 hour days playing only music and wifi enabled (without usage on airplane mode). Battery-Saving Mode will drain the battery at a more constant rate, it does almost nothing at slowing the drain.

Although it has terrible almost unmentionable battery life, the reception is OUTSTANDING. It has no trouble connecting calls and browsing due to it's 4G LTE broadband. BUT, a side effect of the 4G is that it devours the battery. It's very strong, able to keep up in 2015, but the processor bottlenecks this so it's kind of a waste. Wi-Fi occasionally disconnects.

There is definitely not even close to enough memory to even mention for this thing. A hair over 800 mb, this thing bottlenecks the phone like crazy. Internal memory barely scratching 1.5gb is definitely another bottle neck as I can't even have Skype, Facebook, and Messenger installed.

It's really meh on games around 2013/2014 release. It heats the phone quite a bit as well, more over the battery and will freeze it when it gets to a certain temperature. The phone will also stop charging on Skype when it gets too hot as well.

The screen is no where near sufficient in the more modern era at 480x800. It has a decent pixel density, but that's about it. The "physical" buttons are a pain at times while you're viewing a video or something. It doesn't go away and for my kind of grip, it doesn't help that the buttons are there to exit and nudge me out of certain apps. It's also a bit small, Swype is preferably the best UI for Text input as it's easy on one hand usage.

I would not recommend someone to use this phone longer than a year, but if they're on a budget, this might be a great phone, but it's increasingly becoming outdated.

Samsung Victory 4G LTE
Phone owned for more than a year

For a "burner phone" (non contract), a reasonable phone - if you are acting under the assumption that you will not be using it for long.
HORRIFIC battery life. Hard to disable & delete useless, battery draining programs if you expect to have it for any length of time. Brightness needs to be at absolute bottom level in order to come even CLOSE to the times they claim battery lasts, and the screen is IMPOSSIBLE to read if it is that low. I suppose the best thing for this phone, would be to be one to grab just to make and recieve calls on if your "REAL" phone dies before the "new one" comes out, and you dont want to really INVEST in another phone because you are waiting on the upgrade.

Crappy MVNO phone
Phone owned for less than 3 months

This is a review of the Samsung Galaxy Victory on FreedomPop, the cell phone provider with the worst service and customer service in history. Some of these may be due to FreedomPop, and some of them may be due to the Phone.

Overwhelmingly disappointed does not begin to cover it.

The phone takes about 5-6 minutes to boot up once you have installed a few apps. This is especially a problem because after every phone call, the phone freezes and reboots. And That is a serious problem because it doesn't log phone calls which ended with a freeze.

The battery life is atrocious. Leave it in my pocket and use it for a total of no more than 45 minutes through the day, and is empty of juice by bedtime. This is AFTER turning on "battery saving mode" which slows the phone down noticeably.

The light sensor to tell the phone what brightness to use on "automatic" doesn't work, so automatic brightness is always at minimum brightness.

Disconnects from the internet frequently, both wifi cell, both 3g and 4g. Even when connected to wifi, it will frequently not actually connect to the internet.

Phone calls drop all the time, and about half the calls, both you and the other person cut out heavily. about a quarter of the time, incoming calls can't hear you at all.

The phone doesn't have nearly enough memory to function properly.

I could go on, but this is easily the worst phone I have ever had.
