It's like heaven compared to my old phone, but...

Phone owned for less than a year

I owned a Galaxy J3 Eclipse for about two years, and it was hellish. After begging and begging, my dad finally bought a different phone and gave me his old S9. The first month was MAGIC, I tell you. This runs so smooth compared to a J3, and that's all I had to compare it to. While the fingerprint sensor was (and STILL is) super finicky and almost never registers, the call quality was decent, the infinity display was super cool, and I was a happy teen. However, the phone almost immediately began to show its downsides after the first month. My volume button doesn't click in like the other buttons do anymore but still functions which isn't a huge deal. The phone had been used for years before I received it so I should've been more careful with it, but after one drop the case I had on it flew off and the glass back (wtf?! Why glass??) completely shattered. I have a skin on the back as to not cut myself, plus a heavy duty Otterbox. Even before this happened the speed and data have been so wacky and spotty even close to towers. Half the time the phone has a seizure for no reason and it freezes, which is super annoying. May just be age, may be bad luck, or it may be Samsung.
I honestly never liked Samsung aesthetic-wise, and I'm planning on saving up for my own iPhone that will hopefully run more than half the time. Thinking a 12 mini or XR will do the job much better than the S9. It's pretty, but I wouldn't place my heart and soul on this phone.

The best I have used

Phone owned for less than 3 months

The phone is built really very well and user experience is at it's best. this phone has many features that need in nowadays. I have used an S3 in the past and the main thing I love about Samsung phones is the Display. the camera also exceptionally good and UI also works smoother.

Great phone, tried Apple, too controlling, tried Pixel, too incomplete

Phone owned for less than a year

Really like what Samsung has done, has the S8 and the little differences are enough to go to the S9. Love the size, if I want something larger, I'll grab a tablet. My biggest complaint is the battery. I'm usually near a charger if I have to use the display for work. I would prefer the s9+ two camera system.

A very nice phone

Phone owned for less than 3 months

A slight, but important upgrade over the S8 - managing to iron out most flaws, but some creases are hard to remove. In this case, I refer to two most annoying things. The poor type input, and the RAM greedy software.

Great Successor to the S8

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I had the Galaxy S8 and the I-Phone 8 Plus and this phone is excellent for the most part. The battery life is good given I keep the display set on QHD. Why keep it on HD or FHD if the screen resolution is QHD? I find that a charge does last me the day with adjustments to increase battery life. I am averaging about 30% usage daily (with the Always On Display off). The display is very sharp and robust. I like the wider aspect ratio as well.

I am very impressed with the Dolby Atmos on my Multimedia. With the supplied AKG Earphones, sound is really good, surround is very effective. The audio in the earpiece is good, the speakerphone quality is good, but could be louder.

Phone works well after the 10/19/2018 Security updates. The phone is very snappy and I have yet to experience any lag. The UI is easy to navigate and has many options. The keyboard is very intuitive and has many options. Fingerprint sensor works great unlike the S8. I do recommend a screen protector and case. I use the S9 for field Weather Spotting and Ham Radio (WX2WMU) events.
