Still a decent phone despite it's age.

Phone owned for more than a year

I had to use a Galaxy S8 from May 2022 until October 2022, following my P30 Pro breaking, and despite it being a 5.5 year old phone, it's still a decent phone, really the only downside to using it these days is the fact you're stuck on Android Pie. I know the Galaxy S8 is considered the world's most fragile phone, but the build quality on mine was decent as well. Sadly the NAND on mine is beginning to die. Some games may not run well due to it's age.

Nice Phone

Phone owned for more than a year

I used this phone as my main phone. I got it in 2017. It has an AWFUL screenburn right now. Right now I can't connect to the internet on this phone. I used it from 2017-2021. It's an awesome phone. I managed to soft brick it on March 30, 2020, by accident while I was trying to update it to Android 9.

This was my first Favorite Samsung Phone.

Phone owned for more than a year

I had used plenty of samsung phones in the past but they were always too generic looking or too slow after a long period of time. The Galaxy S8 Had a great screen with a decent if not better camera than the Iphone 7Plus (Which was its main rival at the time). Samsung struck gold with the design but it's on the inside what counts and the OS is still bloated a laggy. Overall if you're a basic android user then you'll love it, but for Purists or Power Users, get the Pixel.

This phone is beyond words.

Phone owned for more than a year

I have had my S8 for more than one year, and it still performs really well. The back of my phone is cracked but it was dropped from 3 feet onto rough concrete without a case. I do recommend buying a case for it even if it has Gorilla Glass 5, but still is a really durable phone, holds up really well.

Annoying phone with many quirks

Phone owned for more than a year

Annoying phone with many small problems, and I was so annoyed I bought a phone just after owning it for a year.
The phone is slow with bad battery life and filled with bloat and Samsung software and Bigsby. I must admit I was really disappointed with the phone, but to that price how can you just buy a new phone. The camera could all of a sudden not find focus in pictures and happened a lot and is annoying when need to take a picture.
The Samsung UI is horrible and probably the worst of all flagships. Was the only phone with all screen front, but the software makes Samsung a no go for me in the future.

The best combination of design, screen and camera

Phone owned for less than a year

The best looking device out there along with the best display and one of the best cameras in the market. No problems in 9 months ownership. Very fast processor. The only small disadvantages are the placement of the fingerprint scanner and the friendly to scratches back glass.

Looks amazing, meh for real use

Phone owned for less than 3 months

everything about the phone is great, except for the screen. yes it is the best display on the market but the curve makes the phone extremely hard to use. screen protectors are nearly impossible and cases may also block the edges of the screen. only other complaint is the UI

Very good phone and I'm not a Samsung fan.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

That screen, though. The battery lasts me from wake up to bed, but wouldn't if I went to the close the bar. Have I mentioned the screen? It's great. My only point of contention is all the dang software. Why do I need this? The camera hasn't failed me yet.

Great Phone!

Phone owned for less than a month

The phone that i have it is a sliver model. And i will start from top to the bottom according the charts.
First the build quality it is a 10 but i gave it a 9, dont get me wrong the build should be 10 but i gave it 8 because of the back glass plate, on the top right and the bottom left corners the light doesnt bend like the other edges bit it is sharp, and this is only visible on the silver model and coral blue, but not on the black. If i had the black one i would give it a 10!
I have no problems with the reception, in fact it has better reception than my previous S7 edge!
The call quality it's top notch! No problems whatsoever. But i will have to say it all depends on the operator you are using. Sames goes for the internet i cant complain here, because i cant find any flaws.
Watching videos, browsing the net, taking pictures it is on a whole new level here, the phone is made to be used, it begs me to hold it up and watch that screen, stare at it, watching 4k videos on Youtube in full screen mode is absolutely fantastic! Now i can browse Instagram and read twitter at the same time, and i have more screen to do it! The UI is considerable faster than the previous model and i think i like it but it's not that fast, tho with developers mode on i can tweak the animation and now its blazing fast. Still i cant award a 10 here due to that fact.
I use it every day starting with ~90% battery and finishing the day with ~15%. Overall coming from a S7 edge the battery is slightly under it but i am using the FHD display mode so its fine here, but still its a 8 for it. And yes as a flagship Samsung device the display it is the best! Nothing can compare to it NOTHING!

EXCELLENT!!!

Phone owned for less than a month

I have had pretty much every Samsung Galaxy phone since the S3....this by far is the best one yet. The Note series is great, but just too big for my hand and pocket. The S8 is smaller than the S7 Edge, but the screen is larger! Love it! The iris scanner is instant fast and overall this is such an upgrade from the S7. Well Done! Not to mention, it has facial recognition BEFORE the iPhone 8, as well as Bixby which works like Google Lens BEFORE the Pixel 2. BOOM!

Eh. Disappointing.

Phone owned for less than a year

The screen is beautiful and it's pretty fast. The camera is awesome too. But samsung crippled the Google Assistant in an effort to force users to use Bixby. And Bixby is ... well ... Bixby is no Google Assistant.
The fingerprint reader, while fast, is pretty bad. It takes about 10 tries and you have to push your finer down really hard to try to cover the entire over-sized fingerprint scanner. I have fat fingers, and it's still a battle to get my finger to completely cover the sensor. I don't know who originally came up with the terrible idea of putting the sensor on the back of the phone, but they should be slapped.
Also, I'd like it to be a tad smaller. I'd gladly shrink the screen by 0.1 - 0.4 inches to have a phone that's more friendly to one-handed use.

The headphones that come with the phone are not part of the phone, but they come with it, so I'll comment on those too: They're terrible. Weak midrange and absolutely no bass. But again, they're pretty.

Great for SKYWARN Spotter &Ham Radio Operator.

Phone owned for less than a year

I upgraded from the Galaxy S7 and I am quite pleased with this device. The Audio quality is excellent and I like the Extra Volume feature for outdoor use. The speakerphone is not as loud as the S7. The fingerprint scanner operates better than it did on the S7, but being in the back right next to the camera is awkward but I am used to it now.

The display is great. Having a larger aspect ratio makes most of my apps, especially my weather apps look real good. Screen is very responsive even with a screen protector. The Edge display enhances the experience too.

The ROM of 64 GB is great coming from a 32 GB device. I have 48 GB of free space available with my photos and apps. I elected to add my 32 GB Micro SD card (Class 10) for more storage. One must be certain to install the Micro SD Card properly into the SD/SIM Card tray. It should "snap" in very lightly. The 4 GB of RAM handles everything well, I was a bit surprised that it does not come with more RAM, like 6 GB or more.

My music files sound good with the supplied head phones but they lack Bass compared to my S7. The music player handles very well. I feel there was improvement on it since the S7. Videos are sharp with the video player.

The thing that impresses me the most is the improved battery life compared to the S7 with the same 3000 Mah Battery. I have time when I am only losing 0.25% or less per hour on standby. Mind you that this occurs with out any of the enhanced battery saving options like switching the display resolution or enabling a saver mode! The battery charges fast, the same as the S7. I was skeptical prior to purchasing that Samsung is using the same battery as the S7, I am pleasantly surprised. It lasts more than all day with moderate usage. Finding a screen protector has been difficult, everyone I have tried does not last or comes off with little force. I found on at the Sprint store, and it is a excellent product.

I hope that the planned upgrade to "Oreo" 8.0.0 will address the few bugs I have experienced. I will not part with this one any time soon!

Best phone I have used

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I have had the S8 for just over 2 months and have never had any problems, this is my first Samsung phone and I have really enjoyed the experience. Very smooth experience using it, there are very small problems but these do not take away from the overall experience of this device, overall money well spent and I would recommend this phone to anyone, phone will work with people with both big or small hands and the UI is very easy to understand and use.

Good, but far from Wow

Phone owned for less than 3 months

For more than 7 years I'm a galaxy user (started with I7500), excepting last year, when I bought an Iphone 6 plus.
Well the S8 is beautiful, slim, powerful. The speakers improved a lot from the previous S5 that I use to have. The camera is great, but specially in selfies and portraits the software try to make your skin soft, and then the pictures seem very artificial. Artificial, by the way, is the worst of the camera, good eyes can see easily the heavy manipulation on the images.
The screen is gorgeous, no complain about, but didn't like the dimensions (with one hand u can't use easily).
The battery life is disappointing, in the end of the day is 20% with 4 hours on screen...
The iris scanner is great, a big inovation, very fast and responsive, I became very impressed with the tech.
The fingerprint reader is very badly positioned a complete mistake, I have big hands and still need to stretch for reach it.

Best phone I have ever owned

Phone owned for less than 3 months

After having had the device for a month I still find the fingerprint sensor location annoying. Iris scanner works well most of the time even with glasses. Nice upgrade from S7 Edge which I thought was the best phone I have ever owned.

The best Samsung phone so far.

Phone owned for less than a month

Nice phone, had this beauty two days ago. Build quality is very good. But the battery, I think, is just too small for a 5.8" 2K display, and the horrible fingerprint location is deal breaker for this beautiful phone. The screen is very beautiful though, and it has a good camera.

Best Galaxy yet

Phone owned for less than a month

Excellent phone, battery life could be better but it's not bad for only having a 3000mah battery. Doesn't seem to lag as much as the s7 but usually Samsung phones slow down over time. Fingerprint sensor isn't as bad as all "experts" are claiming it to be. Unlike older galaxy phones you don't have to wake the screen to use the fingerprint scanner, so you can touch it before turning your phone around to unlock.
