s23

Phone owned for more than a year

Design and Display: The Galaxy S23 boasts a sleek, pocket-friendly design with a 6.1-inch AMOLED display. Its minimalistic form factor makes it comfortable for one-handed use, and the screen quality is excellent.

Performance: Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the S23 delivers true flagship performance. Apps run smoothly, and multitasking is a breeze. Whether you’re gaming or browsing, it won’t disappoint.

Camera System: The triple camera setup includes a 50MP main lens, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP 3x telephoto. While not groundbreaking, it captures versatile and reliable photos—even in low-light conditions.

Battery Life: Here’s where the S23 falls short. Although it offers all-day battery life, it’s not outstanding. You’ll need to charge it daily, which might be a drawback for heavy users.

Value for Money: Considering its features, the S23 provides good value. Plus, with the release of the newer S24, it’s now more affordable than ever.

In summary, the Samsung Galaxy S23 is a compact Android phone that strikes a balance between performance, affordability, and usability. If you prioritize screen quality, performance, and value, it’s a solid choice. Just be prepared for average battery life

Pros and cons, great phone

Phone owned for less than a month

Frame of reference: coming from a pixel 5 and a pixel 3 before that. Am locked into Verizon.

My preference would have been for a slightly smaller phone, but this solid mid-size phone is about as small as you can get in a full-flagship phone.

The screen is absolutely beautiful, but apparently even 120Hz is too slow for the most important usage for high framerates: scrolling text. Scrolling text still blurs and doesn't look smooth.
Phone is fast and generally runs great.
I have two main cons that might not bother you.
1. Coming from Google Pixels, the Pixels have the ability to turn off 5G. The speed difference for 5G vs 4G/LTE is imperceptible under normal usage. 5G just uses extra battery and emits more radiation. I prefer to turnoff 5G for better battery life and cooler operation. The pixels allow you to turn off 5G. The Samsung does not.
2-The very square edges are uncomfortable in-hand. In other words, it's a phone you don't want to hold for long. All my pixels have been much more comfortable to hold.
Other complaints:
The One UI is a notable step down from Pixel's vanilla android in smoothness, and easy usability.
Bloatware. The phone comes with a TON of Bloatware to uninstall after you get setup, and some of it will automatically reinstall itself, so you have to uninstall and disable multiple times.
The phone is notably heavier than my pixel 5 that was almost exactly the same size.
The typing leaves something to be desired. It's just not a particularly responsive or engaging experience.
Otherwise, the screen is beautiful, the phone is generally fast, and the battery life is phenomenal. Using power saving mode on-and-off, I get up to 3 days off a charge.
Final verdict: I'd recommend waiting for the s24 which should have a better in-hand feel.

S23

Phone owned for less than a month

This is a very nice upgrade over Galaxy S10e. Most noticeable for me is the display brightness, fingerprint and scratch resistance. Certainly plenty fast and camera is very good. Combined with Spigen Liquid Air case this is a very compact, yet powerful phone.
