If god would have created a phone, this would be it!! Even the name sounds heavenly (Eternity) This phone from the first minute i picked it up, i fell in love with it and didnt want to put it down. This phone is replacing my iPhone 3G for 2 reasons, 1. It has all the features that the iPhone is missing, and 2. for all the data and texting, im saving about 15 dollars a month, Internet conectivity is extremely fast, its small sleek and sexy. And The interface is a winner! also with the support of Opera Mini and Google maps. im still getting a top notch browser and one of my most used apps on my iPhone. Best phone to date, no questions asked. Oh and on the specs sheet, it said it was a 2.5 mm jack, its actually a 3.5 mm which is much better. suppports all the earphones we love. Hope this review helps a potential buyer for this phone. Highly recommended!
The Samsung Eternity SGH-a867 is a worthy and fast follow-up to the popular LG Vu. For those who want Mobile TV, CV, MMS and a less expensive data plan, the Eternity is an enticing touch screen alternative to the iPhone 3G. The phone is attractive, compact and light yet it packs a roomy 3.2" touch screen, GPS, TV tuner and a large battery inside. If you're looking for a reasonably-priced touch screen phone with lots of multimedia possibilities, a very good camera and a full HTML web browser, the Eternity is hard to beat.
I've had this phone for about a week. I saw it walking in to get a tilt at my local store, and I loved it. It's a very good phone. It's easy to text, has a pretty good battery, takes crisp pictures, and I love the widgets. Excellent phone and I'll recommend it to anyone.
Wow i got this phone today, and its incredible. Every time you touch something there's a little vibrate thing, and its really cool. It also has motion detecting so when you're messaging, you can tilt it to the side and the keyboard pops up. I would definitely recommend this phone for anyone who likes touch screen phones at a fair price
I just got back from the AT&T store once again. This time, i didn't go just to mess with the vu, or the iphone, or the bold, or others, infact, i completely forgot about those screws. Today i messed with the whole machine! Lol, this thing is absolutely incredible, i'm telling you! As soon as i'm eligable, i will be texting on the eternity! While i was messing with the phone, i had to check out texting, of course. I wrote six full sentences and had not one single mistake! i wrote four of them with the qwerty keyboard and two of them with the standard t9, flawless. I attempted the handwriting recognition but with just my fingernails, it wasn't so good, but not bad :) . I think AT&T is finally learning how to walk. Lol, it's about time they step up! :) Not that they didn't have any good phones, but they didn't have that many and finally they have the perfect one for me! The battery seems to be no problem..The only thing i'm a little iffy about is the signal. I was in the store with full bars on my regular old samsung flip, and on the other hand with 4 bars on the samsung eternity! idk :-/ i'm sure it's not a problem, though, i haven't read anything about it. Let's see, i can only talk about so much with this thing! Lol it's so packed! The camera is good and clear, touch response is AMAZING. Pushing twice or going back to select the right thing is extinct! I'M LOVIN IT! :) Lol i'm such a loser, i was in there for 30 minutes not wanting to hand it back! Lol, i was also playing with the cool colorful illumination light for notifications on the bottom! Well, i think that's about it, lol. 10/10 <sorry if you didn't like my little story :-/ >
The day the eternity came out, i was going for the lg vu. I called around and a worker recommended the eternity. I looked at it online and thought it looked like a good phone. I went to the store to compare the phones and walked out with the eternity. It had so many better features compared to the vu. You can drag a widget out to the desktop as a shortcut if you use it alot. The 3 megapixel camera is great. The extras on the camera help show the quality of the camera. They offer a great variety to take a good picture like the smile shot and the panoramic shot. The touchscreen is better too. It responds to the button you press, not the surrounding buttons. The headphone jack is a great thing to have, instead of having to buy a jack to hook it up. Overall, I would recommend this phone to someone who enjoys touchscreen and who likes to be a little bit show-offy.
Seriously this phone is just as smart as i am. From the pin-point touch screen. to the motion controlled view. to the 3.0 mp camera this thing kills every other phone ive ever had. it even recognizes that your are on the phone, when you press you face up against the touch screen the screen goes off. (gives you 2+ more hours of talk time). and when you pull it away from your head, if you have a txt or something the screen will automatically light back up!!!!!... overall it just impressed me. way to go Samsung!
When I got this phone I thought it is like the LG Vu but I was wrong this phone has everything the display is amazing and you could move the icons like on a desktop. The battery life is wonderful and it drain like other phones. The texting is awesome with the displayed keypad and if You are in highschool it is stylish and everbody wants to see itI advise anybody to get this sick(in a good way) phone
I thought the lg Dare was my dream phone and the lg vu was my only hope, until i saw this baby! WOW it's absolutely incredible! I love this thing, the touchscreen is amazingly huge and very responsive. The design and look of this thing is AMAZING. It's very quick and texting is a breeze. The camera is great and i love the mobile tv! By the way, the light illumination for notifications is HEAVEN! lol idk why i love it soooo much! I couldn't ask for more out of $150! To me, honestly it's better than both the iphone and the lg dare, and definately the lg vu, though they're all still good phones.. This thing is killer!
I just upgraded my old samsung flip phone for the Samsung Eternity. I love that it has all the popular IM services. The touch screen is really nice and very responsive. The call quality is great and it has everything a gadget lover would like
i've had my share of going through phones when i got my upgrade. i couldn't find the right phone for me until i saw this phone! it's great! it's so easy to use and the touch screen is soo responsive! it's a lot better than the LGVU. don't overlook this phone because it's an all touch screen, the touch is awesome!! i definitely recommend this phone to anyone!
I just got mine today, and it rocks! I'm glad that I choose it over the LG Vu and AT&T Quickfire, it has a great mega-pixel camera, streaming TV and touch screen quality. The best phone I have ever had!
this is an amazing phone.i love the touch screen the battery lasts for a long time.the camara is great.texting is great.get this phone;]
I went in for a lg vu but saw this fone in the store, and after playing around with both I realized that this fone is SOO much better, and walked out with it. The texting is really and easy. The touchscreen is dead on, no hitting one button and something else pops up. The fone lets u record ur own ringtones. The camera is good, and the display is amazing!!
First of all this is not a bad phone because I could say with first hand knowledge that the touch portion of the screen works pretty good. I can even compare some of the features to the highly popular iphone, I even believe that the touchscreen is intuitive and reacts very well to the touch. I was also impressed with the switch between portrait to Landscape, which was very quick. Also the phone gets to the internet at a decent speed despite the phone not having 3-g on the phone. But unfortunately like all good things there are some weaknesses to the phone. The phone has a plastic casing around the outer edges of the phone which diminishes the look of the phone a little bit. Secondly, the web pages are pixelated which makes the pictures on the web look blurry while viewing pictures of website like ESPN or any flash animated page. I would only recommend this phone for someone who is looking for a phone that has great features but do not necessarily use the internet on a regular basis.
I got this phone in Japan when it was firt released from the factory about one month ago. Well I absolutely love it. First the battery life rocks. The touch screen rocks. did i mention the battery rocks.. the call and camera quality are just so sick. (in a goody way) just rad phone
I just purchased the Eternity. I had recently had an LG VU which was extremely slow and lacked many features that the Eternity has. It really can almost do anything, from a built in Nav system to crystal clear TV this is one awesome phone I highly recommend it :) Also not to mention crisp 3MP pictures! You won't be sorry if you get this phone :P
I brought the phone yesterday and i love it! It has so many features and is really easy to use. I have had the iphone, and I think that the samsung eternity is much better. The battery life is not bad either, for a 3G phone.
I am a phone fanatic, Im always up on the latest phones and I'll do what ever it takes to have the new latest and greatest. I walked in to the AT&T store and just HAD to have it. This phone does it all. its customizable its sleek and touchscreen is awesome camera is a 3 megapix! The Widget is an awesome home screen feature you drag your icons like a computer desktop. This phone is loaded with features everyone can use.
I picked up my Eternity a few days ago, and I can't stop playing around with it. The touch-interface is spot on, the screen is big and bright, it has a landscape qwerty keyboard for texting (just rotate the phone when texting), 3G+ reception is outstanding, 3MP camera works very well, sharp pictures (no zoom or flash though), no ugly antenna for Mobile TV (unlike the Vu)I've had to charge it twice since I got it, but I mess with it all day so it probably drains quicker. If you don't want an IPhone, and hated the LG Vu, this is the perfect phone for you.My last phone was a Moto Z9. Definitely worth the upgrade to the Samsung Eternity. A must-buy.
In the past few weeks I have tried everything from the Iphone, Pantech Slate, Quickfire, HTC Touch and by far found this phone much better. I did not like the Iphone since I was unable to get picture messages, Pantech Slate had few applications, Quickfire was to bulky and I didn't like the keyboard, HTC Touch was way too much for what you got.I found that this phone is really easy to text on even though it is a touch screen. You are able to set your music as ringtones, pictures as wall papers, and so much more.I am a very picky person especially if I have to pay a lot of money. This phone is well worth it and I'm keeping it! I LOVE IT!! Finally after going through all those phones, I found one!!
"Just got it tonight! Picture quality an video quality for tv is great! This was less expensive than my last phone and it does more! The only thing I dislike is how dirty the screen gets so quickly when you are holding the phone to your ear."
I just got this phone from the AT&T store today and overall it's pretty good
Screen - Large and responsive. Easy to use, seriously. Problem with it being a touch phone is that sometimes they have too many buttons on screen at once and it loses the sophisticated look. Weird Hold screen thing...
UI - It's great. The menu screen has a cool carbon fiber background kind of like the Sway from Verizon...but you can't change any themes. You can change the font, but that's about it. With the home screen full of nifty 3d goodies you would think the actual menus would be more than just plain beige/white. overall though, it's easy to use and it has the bounce effect when you scroll too far, like the iphone.
Camera - It's decent. The white balancing makes the camera really slow and I don't believe there is autofocus; I even checked the settings. but when it works, the color and quality are pretty good.
Call Quality - It's Decent as well. At my test at the AT&T Store, I called my home and the other side said I sounded a bit scratchy, even though I had left my volume settings untouched.
Messaging - Decent 3x. This is an example of way too much on the screen. In landscape mode you have a autocorrector, keyboard, and word suggesting. It's pretty distracting, but it gets the job done. I've had only 1 or 2 mistakes so far.
Overall I give this a rating on normal phone functions (Not including mobile TV, Browsing)
Everything is good, but limited at the same time. Example: no phone themes, limited widgets (duh), basically customizing functions.
This is by far the best samsung I've ever used and mainly because of the combination great UI that they've created for the device and excellent hardware capabilities. Pros:UI - super intuitive and not overly jacked up by all the ATT junk.Screen - great quality screen and it's HUGE!!!Touch - the best touch interface I've ever used and yes that includes the iphone. And it's primarily because this phone has the best touch screen texting I've ever used. It is amazing. I could text on it just as fast as I could on my Curve or Bold.Camera - worked like a charm, no complain.GPS - worked very well.Mobile Browser - though not as robust as the iphone's, it is still an excellent browsing experience for a non-smart phone.Mobile TV - not avaiable in my area.Cellular Video - excellentAcceleromator - worked absolutely flawlesslyCons - I wish I could load the Blackberry 4.6 OS onto it. I would definitely buy it if I did not need a pda.So obviously I'm a big fan, but you really just have to check it out for yourself. And when you do definitely check out the new ATT Touch Pro and the Bold.
After having the Samsung Eternity for a little over 24hrs now here is what I think.
Pros
UI-Fast and smooth
BT-OK a little muffled at times
Touchscreen-All I can say is WOW, Fast and smooth. Haptic feed back is nice but I have turned mine off.
Texting-Excellent holding the phone upright you get a standard key pad, turn it to the left and you get the qwerty key pad. Both are quick and well spaced out.
Web browser-is ok for a phone
Camera-Quick to load and snap a picture.
Volume-Ringtones are loud enough, message tones not so much. Call volume is excellent, little to no echo.
Reception-By far one of the better ones for this. Inside my house in south florida 3 to 4 bars,(iphone 3g 1 bar at best unless standing by a window)
Music player-quick and snappy.
Battery life-after 24 hrs of use, a little phone, texting, some web and music player still showing full.
Cons- I really cant find any
Overall- An excellent device so far, touchscreen is really easy to use and the home screen can be customized to your liking. Status light at the very bottom of the phone can be set to different colors and lights when messages come in. Would have been nice for them to include a data cable in the box.
