Nice sound quality, good UI. Nice feel. Good camera quality, especially during its time of release. Good internet speed. When all you have to do is more of texting-calling, with audio-consumption and internet-surfing on the side, then this is a perfect phone. But, things change, of course. :)
Nokia N70 is a smartphone released at 2005 and is one of the first phones seen in the first release of NSeries line of "multimedia computers" by Nokia. It is a smartphone that comes with S60 2nd Edition FP3 interface or Symbian OS. Since it comes with an OS, multi-tasking is possible. The physical appearance of the Nokia N70 is quite good. It is a small candybar style phone. Since it was a small device, the keys in this phone are made smaller compared to its predecessor, the Nokia 6680. The most notable problem in the keypad is the placement of the "2" key. The "2" key is placed closed to the down navigation key and it means that you might experience some accidental key press especially during typing in the keypad. On the right side of the phone, you'll find a RS-MMC card slot and a shutter button. The RS-MMC card slot can be hard to open for those people who have small nails. The shutter key is small and it is quite difficult to press. On the top of the phone you'll find a power button and a stereo loudspeaker. The power button is very small and if you've used Nokia 6680 before, you'll find it very difficult to press. The loudspeaker produces superior quality especially when playing songs using the Music Player. On the back, you'll find a 2 Megapixel Fixed Focus Camera with an LED flash. The camera outputs good quality in normal lighting situations and average quality in low-lighting conditions. Technically speaking, the reason why Nokia N70 provides good quality images because all the pictures taken in it are processed before being saved. The camera is able to record VHS-quality videos and can save it in .MP4 format which means that videos being captured in this phone can be playbacked in PC and in the phone itself. On the front you'll find an Ambient sensor (the small square located near the "N70" mark), the screen, and a front VGA camera. The ambient sensor helps the phone in saving energy when it is being used under good lighting conditions and under sunlight. The screen is at the size 176x208 pixels or appoximately 1.8 inches. The screen quality is good but can be bad when being used under sunlight. The front VGA camera is used for video calls and produces average quality in good lighting conditions and worst in the poor lighting conditions.Performance wise, the Nokia N70 can be quite sluggish in opening different applications simultaneously. Some of the applications open fast while some are not. Opening up the Gallery menu may take up to 20 seconds before it loads all the multimedia files on the phone completely.Overall, the Nokia N70 could be a good smartphone for beginners especially to those who want a 3G phone. But for those who have used the Nokia 6680, you'll find this phone quite disappointing because of its design and performance issues but still, this is a smartphone that comes in even a smaller size compared to its predecessors.
Awesome!!! Phone good recieption. My wife loved her little N70. She load that thing up songs and pics. But it lasted only a year and then the screen died... Another Poor quality control phone from Nokia...
I used the Nokia N70 for a year and a half on a everyday daily basis and it's a great device, since I was coming from a Nokia 6682. The N70 was great the begining, but I started to notice things as time went on. From the design, to the features, to sound quality, to signal strength to it's overall performance.
The DESIGN is OK. Buttons a little cramped and with them being flat it's hard to gain a sense of feel with them. This is so evident to the #2 buton on the key pad. You'll find yourself clicking the down key on the scroll pad by accident a lot. If the buttons were raised a little, it would of made a huge difference, but I found myself clicking accidently the #2/down key a lot when texting. The camera shutter key on the side is tucked into the base and it's hard to sometimes. The sliding back panel for the camera seems flimsy at times. Plus, accessing the memory card is a task if you don't have some long fingernails. I used a writing pen to take it in and out due to it's placement.
The FEATURESon he phone are great. With it being a Nokia and working off Symbian OS makes it open many third party OS progams and games. I've loaded Opera mini, Acrobat, a few games, music, and even a mini GPS sysem and it handled it all well as long as I didn't them all open at the same time. I wish it came with more internal memory since at times the interface can be quite sluggish even with one program opened.
The SOUND QUALITY is great. Able to hear conversations very well, music player sounds great and the speaker phone is very sensitive to the point that people can't tell if their on speaker phone or not. Very clear with barely any back ground noise when talking on te speaker phone.
SIGNAL STRENGTH is where is where the major flaws come in. I'm in the heart of the midwest and I knowthe phone is triband, but acquiring a signal sometimes was the worst. I could be out and about and depending on where I was, my signal would go in and out. A big irritation no doubt. I couldn't talk at home, or work or even in certain shopping centers without having to walk around and constantly search for a signal. Even when I talk on the phone others would say I sounded muffled or the calls would drop due to weak signal. I tested out a N73 and this quad-band phone should make a HUE difference.
A little PRICEY, but it's a nice phone with good multi-media capabilities.
OVERALL, the N70 is a very nice starter for smoeone who wants a low end smart phone. I truly enjoyed it while a I had it, but the signal issues were quite irritating after a while. I will pass this knowledge that you make sure you acquire a quad-band phone if you're in the states, it really does make a hug difference, buy a minimum 1GB memory card, you will use it and need the space. Make sure you physically play with the phone to see how it feels and works for or against your daily usage. I'm left handed and it makes a big diference when I hold a phone, since phones are pretty much made for right handers.
Good luck and hope this review helps in your phone buying decision.
Great device overall, but not without its problems.
Battery life is abysmal (for me, being used to phones that last weeks on a charge instead of days).
It's slow, long response times to button presses.
After about a year the screen had to be replaced (which Nokia did under warranty) after it suddenly failed to render anything but random noise.
That said, it's the best phone I've used since my old 6110 died after 5 years of faithful service.
its the best phone i've ever had , its ram made it a real gaming device ...with almost all the functionalities (except wifi & gps) its a great phone to hang with....

Hi Dears
After viewing the users ideas and rating in this site I bought a N70 mobile phone last week.In point of view of sound quality ,design and signal strenth,im satisfied.
Its a classic handset with more options. The stylish features r mind blowing. After Nokia 6600 this is the best handset for me.Its good for proffesionals/Businessman.
I think that this Multimedia device is so good, it never bought me any problems, except when making calls or when on the internet, it logs off when changed from 3G to GPRS or Vice Versa. Anyway, the N70 is such a good phone, or shall I say Multimedia Device. Now the video on this phone has really impressed me, MP4 and my friends were also surprised, some own Nokia phones from 2003 and 2000, Two own a nokia 6230, one owns a 6230i and one owns a 7260 or 7250, dunno, anyways when I showed them a video clip I recorded, boy, were they jealous. I also showed them the Voice Command, they were shocked by what the command said, it does sound a bit weird, the way it talks. The 3D game graphics are so cool and smooth, very impressive, sound quality is ok too. The internet speed is very good and now I can use Yahoo on my N70 and download free pics in Images without me having to take photos. Talking about photos, the 2 MP camera is impressive and so is the front camera. The video calling is a bit poor but I hardly use it. Overall I rate this phone, 9.9/10!
I agree with them, Nokia N70 is almost perfect for me, but can you make an improvements about there features? like about the zoom? i wanted to zoom as far as i want like 50-70x zoom both video and taking photos, and the front cam i hope you make it 12-20x zoom, and the MMC i hope you make it 5-10 GB and the Fone Memory 512-1 GB? When taking photos it eat alot of memory so it is posible that it will easily be overloaded or Full Memory, and the radio do i have to put on the head set to listen to the radio? and i hope this fone is capable of watching television, Im saying this because im a fun of Nokia and i love there product since ever. thanks for reading my suggestion and comment
I like the N70 but can u make the zoom 30-50x both video and for taking pics? and the front cam 8-12x zoom? n MMC 3-5GB? Fone Memory 512MB? i got alot of comment, can u improve the radio? by not putting on the headset? its annoying for me, and I hope it can function as a TV, that can watch Live, like the antena in the television? hmmn and btw, if you will make this fone change can u change this name to Nokia N70i or Nokia 3N-70? thanks
in the main cam can you make it 30-40x zoom and does make the screen bigger and wider, and i hope there will be TV and the memory would be 4-8 GB.....
I loved using this phone
i still
