I hate this phone. It was appealing at first because I am excessive texter and I thought the design was cute. But problems were rampant not too long after I had it. The "touch screen" is a joke - it starts doing stuff on it's own for no reason and if I'm not careful, it'll *almost* delete my entire contact list. It shuts down and restarts by itself (mostly if the inbox reaches and certain amount) This is the 4th replacement I've had and I would rather use a freakin' Nokia than this phone. It is a joke and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. The only reason why the rating is even as high as it is because the battery life is way better than most phones.
AWFUL! Freezes, glitches, shuts off by its self, and is an overall sucky phone. At first i thought it was a good descend phone but after having it for about a year problems are coming none stop. I am on my second phone but the 3rd one does not seem far away because verizon has said no for me getting a new phone/.
HORRIBLE!
I was on my 9th replacement. The screens fell off; the display was always white.
One time; it came and the screen was upside down.
I went through one of them in 3 days.
Verizon finally sent me an Intensity. FINALLY.
Do not waste your time; or money.
I have had the motorola rival for about 7 months. It was my first phone. I got this phone because it seemed like good quality and it was purple. but was i ever wrong. the second month i had it, it started to freeze up and shut off on its own. the fifth month i had it, it would NOT charge unless it was on a completly flat surface. just about two days ago, it started to stop charging. It wont charge no matter what i do. this phone is junk. i would never ever recomend it to anyone ever.
This is absolutley the wrost phone in the world. I have gone through two phone after 6 months the screen went completely black for days. When you press on the screen too hard it turn blank and it spazzes out and automatically presses buttons when you don't want them too. I am in a middle of a text and it just sends it whenever it feels like it. BLAH get the samsung reality wayyyyy better!!!!!!!!!
I have gone through three of these phones the first one i had lasted 9 months and then went all screwy. the secon one i had the screen went all blank it also wouldent recive txtx when i also went to go into my inbox it shut off. the third one it it just fell apart slowly and one day it just broke completely so i went up to the verzion store to get a new one and i told them im sick and tired of this phone so they are sending me a referbished lg Env 3 DO NOT BUY THE MOTORLA RIVAL ABSOLUTLY DO NOT BUY IT cant say i didnt warn you so i would sugest dont buy it.
Although for many other people this phone seems to fall apart or have glitches, this phone carries the basic need of a phone, great keyboard, and some cool features....unless you need a specific amount of features for work or anything its still a decent phone. I have had mine for over a year now and it hasn't fallen apart or have I had to take it back. I guess what I'm trying to say is this phone requires you to take good care of it and not just throw it all over the place. So if your looking to give your child a phone that does the basic need of a phone I would say get this phone. Plus It could show how responsible your child should be in able to receive a phone in the first place. It may not be an iPhone but at least its a phone and they should be grateful for that. Other then that I believe this phone could have some potential.
Worst motorola product we have ever purchased. Bought 4 (for kids), all have failed more than once....bringing total to 8 pieces of junk. Motorola will not accept any responsibility for poor product design (hardware and software). Motorola now officially sucks. Called Fort Lauderdale center only to be routed to the Phillipines.....outsourcing at it worst. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I loved this phone when I first got and now all it is doing is pissing me off. I had two of these phones. The first one worked great for over a year. It wasnt too touchy or anything. But it stopped working a few weeks ago. I would open up the phone and the screen would become half a screen or go all white. So I ordered a new one. At first Verizon told me that my new phone wasnt under warranty anymore. But they still sent me one free of charge. (lucky me) Well I just got this phone last week and this one is terrible!!! The screen is way too touchy Ive lost count of how many times I've sent blank or unfinished messages because the touch screen has been going on its own. Nothing works for it either. I am thinking about getting a new phone because this one just sucks soo much. I would not suggest this phone to anyone.
Good too know i'm not the only one with this crappy phone. I got this phone i August 2009 & since then i've sent it back 4 times and on my 5th phone. the screen cracked the first time and then it started shutting off right after i opened a text then it went to a white screen and i couldnt fix it so i got a new one again, then it pushed its own buttons and went mental. this as been my first phone and the last by motorola i highly reccomend you DO NOT waste you money on this useless piece of junk.
i got this phone when my family switched to verizon. for the first month or two it worked great! but then it started to glitch and annoy me. I am currently on my second one, i had to replace the first one because the screen would freeze very often. As soon as i got the replacement, i noticed the touch-screen buttons would press themselves. It does it everyday now, so I have to take out the battery and reinsert it to reset it and sometimes that doesnt even work so i just dont use it. This phone sucks. Motorola is the worst and cheapest brand of phone out there, i would NEVER suggest you buy a motorola phone because they just arent good quality. I overall hate this phone and wish i hadnt wasted my money on it, screw you motorola!!!
i am on my third 1, and it is currently broken. the cause of the total break was my fault (i swam with it, screen dosen't work now), but it has had several glitches such as rebooting, turning itself on, etc. with all 3 phones, here are the problems i had that i didn't cause:1:rebooting...very annoying espically when you have it password protected.2:turning itself on....every time it was turned off, it would start booting in a few seconds.....annoying as it kills battery life overnight....had 2 take out battery at night.3:screen blackouts: whenever you touched the screen it would go black.....VERY ANNOYING AS THE SOFTKEYS & DIALING ARE DONE VIA. SCREEN. 4.cracked in half: slid the slider up, and it broke in half....annoying cuz u cant use the phone. BUYER BEWARE!!
DO NOT buy this phone!
For all of you who said this phone sucks, thank God I'm not the only one who thinks so! I've had this phone for about a year, and just a few days ago my slide snapped off. I started to notice this phone was flimsy when the slide began to wobble and I saw a gap between the slide and the keyboard. This was my very first cell phone, and when I got it everyone seemed to have it. The first problem I encountered with the phone was that it would restart on its own. This would usually happen when I was sending a text message and I closed the slide. For me it took an unusually long time for it to come back on. In fact, one time I was trying to call someone and my phone literally turned off by itself then came back on by itself! It didn't just restart, but turned off and back on! The next problem I faced with this phone was that every single button but the red button would freeze and stop working. I had to turn it off and turn it back on to fix this. This happened at different and random times, and I got mad because these problems happened at random times, so I couldn't take it to the Verizon store to show them the problems. When the phone was newer it used to happen not so often, but as I had the phone for a longer time it began to happen more frequently. I never faced the problems of the white screen, but I'm sure if I'd had the phone for longer (I couldn't because it broke in two) I would have faced that problem sooner or later. What a great first phone! (NOT)
I've had this phone for about a year now - well not this particular one, this is number 3. I've had all the crazy problems with it that everyone else is having. Each time I've replaced it, Verizon has sent a refurbished phone (i.e. someone else's garbage) even though the manufacturer's warrenty is still valid; this got me thinking. After some digging, I heard an unconfirmed rumour that Motorola stopped making this phone in November, 2009, just four months after it came out because of "defects in design"; I was wondering if someone could confirm this for me? Problems aside, Verizon was still very cooperative when I asked not to get recycled junk for my current replacement and I'm getting a completely different phone...thank God!
I loved the phone and then get to know it it was similar to this:This phone really sucks. I got it in August 09, and after about 2 months it stopped charging unless it was on completely flat surface, I went through 2 chargers for that, and Im on my third one now. The next problem I had is that the touch screen part of it started going crazy when I would try to text and bounce me from screen to screen. I would have to turn it off and on just to send a text. The phone also gets loose on the side where the flex is. Next, it started turning off and on when i would send a text. Then it wouldnt do it for awhile, and it would then do it again. The NEXT problem I had was it would sometimes turn a blurry purple when texting and only locking and unlocking it again would fix that. It would also sometimes turn white to where I would have to turn it off and on and slide it up and down really hard to fix it. Now it is stuck at a white screen with a black hole in the middle, and ive had it for less than a year, so idk what to dooo. that somebody else wrote it was an excellent review and people NEED to no because i had the same incidents .its an ok phone i guess though but if you get annoyed by things easy dont by it, if you dont care that much you can buy it.

Do not get this phoneeee. (:
this phone was by far the biggest mistake i ever bought, i had it for a year and went through 5 different phones. My first phone that i had worked fine until about 4 months when suddenly it started freezing more and the speakers on it decided to not work anymore, i couldn't hear people when they called me, but yet my ringtones worked? So i brought it to the verizon store and they gave me phone number 2 which worked ok for a little while, then it started freezing all the time. When i went to send text messages it would shut off and restart itself and i was planning to bring it back to verizon but then it stopped..then it started up again a week later, figured out a week later that the reason was because my inbox was full and instead of it telling me by a notification it just wouldn't let me send a text until i deleted my inbox so then i knew that wasn't normal. About a day later before i went to bring it to the verizon store i noticed that the keyboard was getting lose and was starting to fall off, before getting it to verizon the screen and the keyboard completely disconnected from eachother!!! Went to verizon once again and got phone 3 which the next day started giving me problems, the touch screen was acting up. It would pop up random things and was sending blanking text messages by itself, so when i went to bring it to the verizon store AGAIN she told me it was fine and wasnt doing it anymore, and as soon as i walked out I DID IT AGAIN. So the next when i went to bring it back AGAIN i accidently left it on the stop of my car and drove off, all well it was a piece of crap so i didnt care. Verizon let me buy a new phone for a one year contract since i had so many problems with it, i just got the samsung rogue, hopefully its better.
DO NOT GET THIS PHONE, IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!
i would not even get this phone. had it 5 months and totally sucks!!
sometimes i have to turn it off then turn it back on to send messages. randomly freezes and i have to pull out the battery.
only a flip keyboard. not much features to this phone also. and right now my phone vibrates but it doesnt show that some1 is calling or i got a text message.
DONT NOT GET THIS PHONE!!
First off I have to say that I am SO glad that I came upon this website, for it has reinforced that I am not psycho, and that this phone is a complete nightmare to own. I am currently on my 4th phone. I feel like a complete reject when I gotta keep going back to Verizon because the damn phone they gave me is piece of crap. So, ok, the first phone I got worked well enough (mind you, I had no idea I was getting this phone my mom got conned into "upgrade") anyway it's working well enough until I had it in my hoodie pocket and it got a smidge wet, and then it started freezin' up really bad. I took it to Verizon and and they took it back. OK, so now we're on phone TWO, which worked ok for a few months, until one day I noticed one side of screen was getting a little loose. So I thought I better take it in and have them look at it. Didn't get a chance because when I went to txt later on during the day, the other bracket broke and they only thing connecting the screen to the keyboard was a teeny, tiny black wire, which promptly tore sending the screen crashing to the ground. Go to Verizon, get phone THREE. To which almost immediatley it does the vibrate thing where it starts sending me to all these different screens, thus making texting borderline impossible. I lived with this shit for a whole friggin week. Go to text, *vibrate, vibrate* and it would either make it so that I couldn't keep typing the message and have to erase, or it would just send whatever I had gotten typed to that point.
Besides that, it does not wear well at all, and looks crappy by the end of the week of having it. Save your money and get a nicer phone because this monstrostiy will make you want to throw it out the window, or blow it up, or run it over with the car.....
Huge Disappointment!I was a big Motorola fan, but after this phone my veiws have changed. I bought this phone because it was compact and had the QWERTY key board and i could either use the touch screen to do things or use the keyboard. I sent it away 4 times! got it replaced and had the same problems instantly with the replacement hand set. I had to take the battery out eveytime I wanted to send a text, it would power off by itself, go instantly to missed calls before the phone rang, send people text messages while i was in the middle of texting, say the text message failed to send but people would still receive it so i would send duplicates or more! The list goes on and on. Over all i would say DO NOT get this phone, hands down the worst phone i have ever had. ( the last phone i had went through the washer machine twice, the Motorola Rival makes me miss the broken water damaged one i once had )
Well, my rival has just stopped working. My screen froze up, and it did that for a long time before it finally quit. The touchscreen is pressed too easily, camera button takes pics when in a pocket, and whenever i put mine in my pocket the screen went white and had to power off to get it back to normal. Wouldn't recommend this phone.
this is the worst phone ever! i had three of them in 2 months!! when the third one broke they refused to give me a new one. they said it was my fault it broke. it is easy to text on but its not worth getting because you wont be texting on it for very long. it freezes up, you can never answer a call on it, it shuts off at random times, sometimes it wont give you youre messages and when you do get them its from crazy dates in the 80's. two out of the three phones i had the slider came right off. dont get it!! you will regret getting this phone!
This phone is ok.. it is ok for texting but it has a good camera. I will tell you the problems mine has. Freezes in landscape mode causing me to turn it off and then back on (it used to unfreeze after 15 seconds but now it never unfreezes!!) the battery life sucks compared to my old flip phone. sometimes when i turn it on there is a white fuzzy static like image on the screen and i have to hold down the end button till it goes away then turn on the phone. the phone sends texts sometimes before i am even done. the touch keys get touched in my pocket. sometimes the phone sends texts that are blank that i dont even mean to send. the keyboard feels weak (as if it is going to fly off.) i am still on my first one and i have had it for about 2 months.. i plan on getting a new phone in about 3 months but until then im stuck with this phone :( it has many software issues.. the looks and feel of it are good though and the keys on the keyboard are nice and big. i do like using touch keys to dial. the camera quality is better than any other phone i have owned besides the env's camera. so overall it is ok and im sure it is just a more of a temorary phone for people who need a phone until they are getting a better one.
this is a horrible phone. I have had 5 of these little monsters they call a phone. I cannot stand this thing. It is horrible. I DO NOT reccomend this to anyone at all. This is my first cellphone and I am very displeased with verizon since they have failed to fix the problem in this situation. One or two is fine but when it is five it is over ridiculous. I am sick of this phone and hope I shouldn't have to switch to AT&T soon because of this menace.
I've just read everyones horror stories about the rival. So there is no need to list my woes. just read what everyone else wrote and multiply by 4. Yes 4. I was foolish enough to buy four of these terrible little phones and everyone of them had to be replace twice in the last eight months. Again verizon won't replace this crap with anything other that a refurbished one of the same pieces of crap. Of course they tell you you can buy another phone at full retail price. .... a few hundred dollars. I shudder to think what will happen when my warranty runs out in a few months.
