Nice smart phone

Phone owned for

The Q9M is a very nice smart phone. The sound quality is great. The speakerphone is awesome. Has a lot og great features. Not as slow as Windows mobile 5. Design is a bit wide and not very comfortable when holding the phone. Keyboard is layed out nicely. Battery life is normal for a motorola phone...defintely not the best battery! Overall its a decent phone.

Just alright

Phone owned for

I bought this phone expecting such a great phone but it really is not that great. First off the battery life on this phone is horrible. The volume for music when played on the speaker phone is so low you can barely hear it.i also don't like the fact that when your online and you get a call it kicks you off??? whats up with that????? If you want a cell phone that is good for email and or texting then this phone is for you but if u want a phone that you can actually use all day which includes texting your girlfriend and talking on the phone with your girlfriend then this phone is DEF not for you. Because if you think you can text periodically during the day then talk foe a hour or two then your def wrong cuz the phone dost even last a day.

Q9m

Phone owned for

I've had this phone for about 2 weeks and so far I really like it.
The keyboard is excellent and the D-pad works well and is finger-friendly. The power/home/back/soft keys have a somewhat cheaper feel but no worse than previous Qs. The screen has good colors and is bright but is slightly off-center as you can see in the photo. The red trim looks very nice and the phone has a good build quality. Signal strength is fine but battery life is on the short side unless you set the display to turn off very quickly. The wheel on the side is a bit stiff and somewhat pointless. I never use it or the side back button. My biggest complaint is probably that the camera is only 1.3MP. I mean really, 1.3? It seems to work well as an MP3 player but I haven't tried the Bluetooth yet.

The only serious complaints I have are regarding WM6. I added Facade and Papayrus which greatly improve the interface and home screen. It's a bit slow but not enough to be frustrating. I tried the BlackJack II which seems a bit quicker than this Q.

Overall I think this phone is a good value and my complaints about it are mostly minor.

not happy

Phone owned for

i was told "ill get a lot for my money" when i bought this phone. apparently, that didn't happen. they advertise this as a smart phone that has all the newest internet features and all those upgrades, but when you try to load the internet, the phone fails on you. i would reccomend getting something like a blackberry, cause this will dissapoint you.

95 % Perfect

Phone owned for

I have been using PDA's for some time now and this one takes the cake for me! I have the Sprint version, as I work on there Engineering support team, and have not noticed ANY issues with the functionality of the device. The data handling is high quality, though w/ the new version of WM6 I would have preferred the “real” version not just the standard. I am sure this could have been supplied if there was a higher processor and more RAM. I have found that if I stay on top of the “Kill” function O avoid most processing delays

Over all a tremendous device!

love it

Phone owned for

Love this phone. I found it impossible to have all of the great features out there. But this one gave me alot while sacraficing little.

I purchased it to do away with carrying two devices (cell & pda).

Cons:
1.3 mp instead of the AT&T global's 2.0 camera.
D pad instead of the Blueberry's mouse ball.
A little wide. I would love a keyboard like the Pearl's, allowing for a narrower body.
The available menus take some time to get used to (2 home menus and one Start). The multi-media Home page is just lousy, but you can personalize the regular one for your special needs.
Still getting the hang of the speaker profiles.

Pros:
Very sleak.
The keyboard buttons are much improved since the Q black's.
Also has a faster processor and larger capacity battery than the black.
Cellular quality is great. This is a Phone/pda... not a pda first and a phone second.
Reception is great. I live in a dead zone and have had zero problems.

I have read cons such as short battery life and freeze ups. I had the data plan disabled, so I don't have email aps constantly checking for new mail. Also, and this a MUST, on my Home screen, I have the Task Manager icon pasted so I can periodically 'Kill all Aps" so they don't run in the background. Both of those can be the cause of power and freeze-up problems. If you plan on emailing America, you might want to get the extended battery. The right soft key is set as Settings, so I can easily adjust the ringer and sounds functions.

I would recommend this phone to anyone that wanted a phone with the features of Outlook.

Great But...

Phone owned for

The phone is great! I really like it, the only problems that i have with it is that the camera is only a 1.3 megapixel, Wen you get a new message after pushing buttons it continues to ring, and it doesn't have wifi, but other than that it is a great phone.

Improved Q

Phone owned for

Very much the same phone as the original Q, but improved in almost every way. WM6 adds a few features, seems to run smoother than wm5. The included DocsToGo app allows editing of attachments and other files, absent on older Q's standard items. Active Sync works very well and is easy to configure with Exchange and popmail. I'm not a big fan of Verizon's Vcast, but stereo sound quality is very good when playing music. Call quality is still excellent.
Physically, it has an upscale look and feel, retaining the matte-finish casing from the Q-black. Keyboard greatly improved for lighter touch while typing, though faster typers may get frustrated with periodic lag. The screen is easier to see in daylight, and seems brighter overall. Battery life is about the same, if not slightly improved (uses same battery as Q.)
If you're looking for a more simple business tool that's less complex than a RIM or Treo, and costs less, this is a good choice.

Q9m

Phone owned for

This phone has some really cool things to it. like the fact that it has all the songs you can choose from and listen to OTA which is nice. Of course the internet capability is good, not great, but good. I was real impressed by the Vcast service, they have a lot of music thats relatively hard to find.

Phone owned for

I just purchased this phone and I'm a vzw employee.
This is a wonderful device. It's purpose is not to replace data devices for those who mainly want the pda functionality. This phone is more for media and basic pda use. It is not laggy when compared to other pda's unless you're running 10 apps at one time. The battery life is great for a pda. The only 2 bad things in my eyes are the 1.3 mega pixel. It doesnt suck but it's not as good as 2.0. BUT it is very very pretty.

dissapointed

Phone owned for

this was supposed to replace my treo 650, what a disappointment :-( The phone itself worked great but the PIM system was lacking. It crashed on me almost immediately. The UI was very slow and buggy to say the least. I guess I am spoiled by the Palm UI I have been using for quite some time now. I am waiting for Verizon to release a new Palm Treo so I can update my phone.
