Solid cheap phone

Phone owned for more than a year

I got the phone in December of 2018, and I can say its not a bad phone at all. It's pretty good for the price however the battery and wifi card did occasionally have some glitches. It had a very easy to navigate and simple UI, and it was easy to customize.

However, after about 4 years it started glitching severely. It got stuck in a boot loop so I had to factory reset through recovery mode. It fixed it, and there wasn't really much that was valuable for me on it but still pretty painful. It worked fine for a while after that, fast forward a year and then.... it stopped charging. The battery just decided to stop charging for whatever reason. But at that point it was a pretty old phone and I was already thinking about getting a new one, so its whatever.

TL;DR, Solid for the price, starts glitching after having it for a while. Battery stopped charging after 5 years.

waste of money

Phone owned for less than a year

I have had this phone overall for 1 yr and and half. The one that was just replaced by moto has lasted less than 6 months. The 1st one I had lasted until Jan 20, then it was replaced with the same model. This one I just got, has now lasted till June 20 and BOTH phones had the same problem. They wont charge AT ALL. I called moto and they said their replacement phones are only good for 3 months. So now I am without any phone and don't even know which one to buy because I will NEVER go back to Motorola again ever!! DO NOT waste your money on this one, get a Samsung or anything else than moto.

Good Mid-Range Device.

Phone owned for less than a month

This is a decent Mid-Range phone. The battery standby is great considering that this phone has a 1080p FHD Screen (IPS-LCD). The battery does drain moderately with heavier usage. I like the different options for screen presentation. The call quality is excellent on the earpiece and speakerphone.

I received the *9.0 Pie Update* on July 10th. I have already noticed UI changes and some cosmetic improvements and animations. The G6 is faster and more responsive than when it was operating on Oreo 8.0 prior to July 10th. Battery life seems to be a bit better on standby, but the same or so when the screen is on for long periods of time. Also after the update to 9.0 I actually gained about 2.0 GB on my Internal Storage going from about 12 GB down to 10 GB. The G6 does not lag as much as it used to on 8.0 and it is much faster (as of 9/6/19) & I did receive the System Update 5 on Verizon.

The Dolby Audio does make a difference in calls and multimedia audio. It offers a lot of options like a Custom EQ. I especially noticed this after the 9.0 Pie Update. The UI has been improved as well, no lagging observed so far. The supplied charger is very fast, 15W output. The phone does get warm with prolonged use. The phone is slippery without a case. I notice that the headphone port gets dusty quickly, I air out and clean as needed with a dry swab.

Love it better that my S7.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I have a feeling the first reviewers problems with the crashing and reboots is from him not installing the updates. I bought mine the first of November and crashed twice until it did all the updates (3 then, and one more later). Now it is super stable, finally has usb-c, and has near stock Android, vs Samsung's bloated setup. I am sure I will have it 2 or 3 years like I did with my G4 Play until I pass it down to the kids. I don't even understand why people pay $1200 for a phone when something like this is it there! Motorolla, keep it up, your on to something here.

Affordable everyday phone!

Phone owned for less than a year

I bought this phone on Google Fi when they offered it for $200 with a $50 bill credit about 6 months ago and I have never been sorry. I use it all day ,every day and I have never had a single crash. A previous reviewer was unfortunate enough to get a lemon and his poor rating has made this phone look like a bad choice. I think it is fast and dependable and a good compromise between phablet and too small to see. I love the fingerprint reader and the facial recognition feature that keep me from hardly ever having to enter an unlock code. Battery life is great and I have never had to recharge in less than a full day. It's nice to see that you don't have to spend $1000 to get a phone that can do everything well and with no drama.

Great every day phone.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

Purchased this phone in September for my mother. The price was unbeatable and the performance is solid. The user experience is on par with my Z3. For her use it is great. She doesn't need the fastest processor or the best performance, but something that will hold up to basic everyday use, and this phone is perfect!

Great phone on the surface, but totally unstable

Phone owned for less than a month

I bought this phone less than a week ago on Google fi and have had nothing but problems with it after being very excited initially.

First impressions were great: sleek design, good camera, clean UI, quality display. But since day 1 I've averaged about 10 crashes per day with this thing (some hard crashes, some where the phone completely freezes and needs to be powered off, and sometimes it crashes after a crash)

For $200 this looks like an amazing phone, and it would be if not for the absolutely horrid crash issue.

* crashes using snapchat
* crashes using Chrome
* crashes using SMS
* crashes when plugged in to power
* crashes when opening system settings
* crashes when powering up
* crashes when drawing lock pattern

I can't give it anything but 1/10, this phone is absolutely crippled by crashes.
