Motorola Hint QA30 User Reviews

After reading all of the negative reviews and the few positive reviews about the Motorola Hint, I went against my better judgement and purchased one anyways. So far, it has been an excellent phone and I have had no problems whatsoever with the phone. I really love the full keyboard and large fingered people who are interested in the Hint should not worry because I have very large hands and I have had no problem getting used to the buttons. The graphics on this phone are top-notch, and as for the random shutting off, I turn my phone off before charging [I read that doing that is suppose to help prevent the random shutting off] and so far it has not shut off once. Overall it is an excellent phone, by far the best that I have ever had. I highly recommend this phone to everyone.

I have to agree this phone is a P.O.S. Not only did mine do all that...when given what Alltel calls a new phone (Really just a  refurbished phone). Mine wont charge it will connect to the charger, but will not add any life to the battery. The phone lags like you wouldn't believe...Don;t get the phone and save yourself some money.

I have had this phone for about 2 months. It was working great the 1st month, and then it started turning off randomly and then when you charge it you have to get it in just perfect so it can charge! Now it wont even charge anymore! I like the keyboard though but thats it! It takes forever for it to delete messages and it takes forever to recieve them! I am going back to alltel for another one but if i have any problems with this one i am switching companies and getting the I-phone! I have tested I-Phones they are great! No one that i know has had any problems with it. SO DO NOT GET THE MOTOROLA HINT!!

Okay, I got this phone on Easter. Which was 2 months ago. Keep that in mind. Two months ago. It worked great up until about three weeks ago. The first thing it did was turn off randomly when I was doing more than one thing on it. I figured it was just typical for phones when they got overloaded with tasks and what not. So I brushed it off. Then it started sending messages when I was still typing them. I figured I was just doing something wrong or accidentally pressing a button. The third thing it did was make this weird dial tone while i was talking to somebody in a phone call, and then that person wouldn't be on the other line anymore, even though the call wasn't ended. I found out that the reason it was sending messages was because the green send button is like hyper-sensitive. All I have to do is like brush my finger against it and it does something. And yes, I know that there is a keypad lock option. I do turn that on, but when it turns off, and turns back on the keypad becomes unlocked. Oh yes, and the battery power SUCKS on this phone. I charge it all night long and it doesn't even make it to ten o clock pm the next day. and it takes FOREVER to delete messages. OH, AND the camera occasionally decides to not let you take pictures for no apparent reason. Oh, one more thing, the XM radio never works. OH WAIT one more thing... don't buy the Motorola hint!

i am 16 anda s with every tennager i am in love with my phone. I got my phone on December as a gift from my brother. It worked great at first but then to charge it i had to prop the thing on a book. Because i live over an hour away from the store i bought it fromm i put up with this. Untill it stopped charging. I pulled the charger out to see what was wrongand it started to take a part from my phone out with it! That was in April. Its been over two months and the y wont fix it! I hate it and i am without a phone!

Well, I've had my motorola hint qa30 for about two weeks now. When I first got it i loved the phone and the full keyboard. I have the cricket version. The phone is good for teting web browsing and calling and luckly my phone doesn't turn off on me while teting and doing something else at once. My gripe about this phone is that I can't download some of the apps, the phone came with a very poor selection of ringtones and when I go to download free ringtones it only lets me listen to the ringtone but when i go to save object it says there is no object on the page to save. So in my opinion this phone is not worth what its priced at.

i have had this phone for over 2 months and i've been through 4 of these phones...thank god for insurence..but the first phone wouldnt reconize audio second one top buttons stopped working, third one the speaker went out within 2 days of getting it and the 4th one is one its way in the mail right now....

I just recieved my motorola hint yesterday as an early, birthday present from my husband and our kids.  For one, it is a very small phone, which is fine by me.  I'm 4'11 and very petite, so a petite phone is cool for me.  While you cannot change the themes, you can go online to www.myxer.com  This site works fine for my phone, for making my own ringtones, and also downloading wallpapers.  The volume for the ringtones is extremely loud.  Browsing the internet on it, works perfectly fine for me.  I'm able to check my email on yahoo and also get on messenger, plus browse myspace & facebook. :)  The screen is very clear, and very bright.  The camera works great on it also, plus the feature of adding frames to your pics, editing them, putting clip art, text, and cropping and also resizing your photo.  It also has a feature on the editing part in the pictures, to where you can change the photo effect to black & white, sepia, normal, & also negative.... after you have already taken the picture.  Another feature I love. :)  It has not turned off by itself, but the screen will go to black when it's not in use.  My guess is it's a battery saving feature on the phone.  I charged my phone overnight and was able to text all day... browse the internet, plus talk on it, and the battery meter only went down by one bar.  So the battery life is awesome on this phone.  I had updated from the samsung messager (another AWESOME phone), to the motorola hint through my cell company Cricket.  I do not know about the music player yet, because I haven't tried that out.  But I did watch a couple of reviews on this phone on youtube, and one of which was showing the music player, and it was nice. All in all, this is an extremely nice phone.  As far as the colors go. I always keep a case on my phone, this one has a blinged out black diamond case I purchased through www.newyorkcellphone.com  Yet another great site too for accessories for your phone, that will NOT charge you an arm and a leg for it. lol

I bought this phone in late April and it is total junk. I like the keyboard for texting but that is it. It shuts off ALL THE TIME and that drives me crazy. I upgraded from a Razr which was a good phone but I just wanted something different. On this phone I do not get much of a signal anywhere. I hate it so much. Do yourself a favor. Take the 300.00 you plan on spending on this phone and flush it down the toilet. You would be putting your money to better use.

i just install the new 16 gig sd smart card and it works great already have 265 videos and 300 mp3s and only used 8 gigs the keyboard works great excellent reception well worth the money if you want a phone with sound qaulity for mp3s and videos this unit kicks ass and unlimited text and long distance and local and internet yeah baby i love it
i think the negative ads they dont have the phone with bose headphones this unit kicks ass on mp3s and videos

This is the worst phone ever.  I am now on my fourth one.  That's right FOURTH.  It has been shutting off on it's own just like the other people have said.  Sometimes it will turn back on other times it won't.  Oh...I got my first phone in January.  Each phone has lasted about a month, and then the issues begin.  So BEWARE.  For those of you who are thinking that you have had your phone a month and all is well, watch out...your time will come!!!  The style is great.  The keyboard is awesome.  But the phone shutting off all the time kills the good features.  I shouldn't have to check my phone every thirty minutes just to see if it's still on!

I got this in November when it first came out on the alltel website, so i went to alltel and bought it. It looked like it had everything i wanted, like the super phone, in december, less than a month later, i set it down on the table (not roughly) and it shut off, i went to turn it back on and the Motorola screen just kept flashing, there was nothing i could do with it. Alltel replaced it, 2 months later, i set it down easily (i treat my phones like children) and it shuts off, about every other time i set it down it shuts off but i dealt with it, if you have an incoming text everything with freeze for about 20 seconds and then you will get your text. not very long after the slider becomes cheap and flimsy feeling, the back cover is EXTREMELY hard to get on and off, it is so thin. finally someone spilled water on it and i could get a new one, i was literally thanking the person that accidentally spilled the water. i upgraded to the blackberry curve, ITS AMAZING !! i'd definitly recommend that instead of this P.O.S. phone.

Okay so i've this phone for about a month. Have had no problems! then today it shuts off by itself! Wouldn't turn back on, wouldn't do anything!!!! I paid $250 for this phone and am seriously irritated with it!

Nice design, cute phone, but utterly useless. First the battery cover broke (first day) and the store says, "Oh yeah, Motorola told us to be very gentle with the battery covers." I've had it two days now, and every time I set it down on a table or hard surface, it turns itself off. NOT HAPPY, Motorola.

ive had this phone for about a month and everything was working great. i just got evdo in my area and loved it so i bought the connect pack 1 from Alltel so i could go online whenever. About 2 weeks later all of my playlists disappeard and i was unable to make new ones, and i started getting error 500 internal server errors while trying to go to webpages like google and youtube. Now i am opening my fourth phone and turning it on and like the others right out of the box are having the same exact problem. Other than not being able to use the web and not creating playlist all in all it has been a decent phone.

To the person that wrote the review for phoneforfun Vs. Motorola hint, there is a site that you can go to called myxer.com it is a totally free site for ringtones wall papers, you can even upload your own there. the only thing it will cost you is 1.99 for browser airtime if you do not already pay for web access on your phone. and you can download as many wallpapers and ringtones as you want with in the 24 hour period. And if you think about it that is not a bad deal at all, It will even give you the option to preview your ringtones before you get them and also to modify them to what you want. you will ahve to sign up for an account but that is free to do also. I got the Motorola Hint QA30 about a month ago, and I love it.  I switched from the LG Scoop, which used to freeze up all the time.  The Hint doesn't freeze and works great.  I had heard a lot of things about the keyboard...the shape, the size, but I haven't had any problems with it.  The phone gets great service and takes great pictures.  My Bluetooth works great on it, as well.  The only negative aspect about the phone is setting up the email...the phone comes programmed with Gmail and AOL.  You can program other accounts, but you have to have incoming and outgoing servers and ports, which is very confusing.  I have yahoo email, so I wanted to set that up, but couldn't figure it out.  I still love the phone, though!

I got my phone less than a month ago and the only problem I've come across is being unable to capture pictures. It's only worked once, but video works.
I'm getting used to qwerty, and the conversation option is great. It replaced my samsung slider I had for two years. It's a little bulkier than that one but still one of the smaller phones. It can fit in my jeans pocket and isn't uncomfortable.

   Hey guys. I'm having some difficulties saving "FUN FOR MOBILE" mp3 ringtones to my NEW MOTOROLA HINT. I can log onto the website from my phone successfully, pick the tone I want, and DOWNLOAD IT, but it only gives me the option to PLAY the file. It doesn't give me the option to SAVE the file/ringtone to my phone. Does anyone have a solution for me on this?! PLEASE e-mail with some ideas. Thanks!!

Bryan there in there if you go to multimedia then to music & sounds, then click on it then go to Ringtones & sounds click on that tab, then click on my sounds and all the ones that they sent to you will be in there. if you have anymore questions or what not please feel free to email me at sharp012005@yahoo.com I will try to help you the best that I can. In reply to the person that wrote do not get the hint, if you have alot of messages on this phone it will take forever to delete them, I have had over 200 messages on my phone from sending and recieving and it is going to take a while to delete them even if there is picture messages. As far as cutting out when you recieve a message while you are texting, EVERY phone does that it is just giving you a warning that you have a new message and you can either click to view or to view later. I have had no problems with mine at all, it is a very friendly functional phone for all users, weather you are new to the qwerty keyboard or what not this phone can do it all. Check email in no time download ringtones pics ect with out any porblem, the phone hardly ever roams and I live in a rual area and always have signal and never have had a dropped call. If you have mightyback-up you have to use the function key to get the numbers to show up I found that out on my own. I highly recomend this phone to anyone that is looking for a sleek multi functional phone

I've really come to love this phone. I've never had one like it before. I've found that people are saying that it shut offs all the time, but I've had mine for over a month now and it has only done that a hand full of times. I got the same phone for my mom too and she hasn't had any problems with it. The only thing I don't like is how it doesn't have all the features that my boyfriend has are his Q. There's no programs/themes/etc for this phone. So you can't personizle as well as you would like to, but it's still an amazing phone. Just last weekend, my best friend and his brother kept taking it to check it out. They both said it kicks ass and my best friend has a blackberry!

Okay. My phone turns off all the time. Which I have seen in most of the reviews. But another thing that really irritates me and I have not seen this once on any reviews is that when you go to delete your messages it takes FOREVER to delete them. It takes mine 5 minutes and 38 seconds to delete my messages (I timed it) and that just isnt normal for a phone, its supposed to just take seconds to delete messages on a phone. The small buttons were kind of hard to get used to. I still have problems with it. You cant text in school because you have to look to text. Which im definatly not used to! When I go to my contacts the sent message cuts out but I never thought anything of it. Now when im in a middle of a text and I get another text message it will stop my other text. It drives me nuts because I text ALL the time and I always have people texting me. So yeah its not very good phone. Another thing it did was that I got messages and it wouldnt tell me who sent them and when I clicked on them there would be no message.  I had to text people and see if they just texted me. They said yes.Then I had to ask them what they said. Its rediculous. For a 2 year contract I paid $90, that may not seem like a lot. But for 2 years thats a lot of crap you have to put up with for that much money. Im very disapointed and I recomend for you NOT to get this phone.

this phone is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!  i love the QWERTY keyboard.!!! it takes a while to get used to the small buttons...but i can text FASTTTT on it now!!! it hasnt shut off on me once, it hasnt froze, dropped any calls, nothing bad like that!!!!! the phone looks big,bulky,and fat in pictures.. but its really tiny and good size in real life.!!!!!!!!! so i would recomened this phone to ANYONE!!!!! I LOVE MOTOROLA HINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like this phone however, I am thinking the eratic shut down issue is the software itself or a phone problem becase I just opened mine out of the box within one full day the phone has turned off 5 times unknowingly which is a big issue because I cannot receive phone calls with it off.
