voyager

Phone owned for

i bought a voyager around this past February. it was a toss-up between the voyager and enV for me. i wish i wouldve bought the enV instead because although the voyager is nice and has the touchscreen in my opinion it wasnt worth the $300. you barely use the touchscreen and its actually rather annoying even after getting used to it. yes the qwerty keypad is nicer than the enV and has bigger buttons but its not that big of a difference. i thought the phone would be amazing but its not really that great. theres lag when you open it or close it and it sometimes unlocks itself. the battery life is also rather short after only having it for about 4 months but i heard you can buy a $10 bigger one that helps tremendously. the touchscreen would be so much better if there were more applications for it! everything that you do on the touchscreen is able to be done with the keyboard. i do like the way it looks and the size isnt very bad and the music is excellent through the speakers but overall i would save the $240 and go buy an enV. they should make more applications to download to make this phone better. in my opinion this phone is not an "iphone killer" but merely a competitor.

I have it and LOVE it

Phone owned for

Enough said. I just got the phone in March. I had the EnV and it was great but I am loving this upgrade. I personally LOVED the iPhone but hated AT&T. The service is not good and if anything goes wrong with that phone, you have to go through leaps and bounds to get it fixed. Plus you can even get insurance on it. At least this device has its 1 year warranty, plus you have the option to get insurance. I am truly in love with it.

OK..............

Phone owned for

I currently own the LG Voyager and have for almost 4 months. I have to say, I was expecting more. The phone is mainly about it's appearance, and even that could have been much better. This phone's main purpose was to be a clone of the iPhone, and sadly,it wasn't. The icons could have been more graphical and based on a rounded theme like the iPhone's. The QWERTY keyboard is excellent, and by far, the best I have ever used. I was very disappointed in the camera quality. LG could have done much better than a 2mp camera. It's signal was one thing that wowed me. I compared it's signal to the LG VX8700's and the Voyager's was far greater. It's brick-like shape itself doesn't feel good in the pocket, but it is fairly light. I'd say LG should have worked on it more before releasing it, which leads me to believe that is the reason for the upcoming LG Dare. The Voyager has a decent amount of applications that I will probably never use in my life (such as the Ez Tip Calculator). I was extremely disappointed in the options for customization. As far as themes go you only have two to choose from: Color, Black and White. How boring is that!? But the menu fonts had a large selection (you don't even normally have the option to customize menu fonts?????). The web browser is excellent. the graphics on the browser are perfect, and the speed is fairly fast. The external screen is completely scratch proof! Which is no surprise considering that the iPhone and iPod touch both have scratch resistant screens (and it is pretty helpful). The feedback with the touch screen isn't too great, and people who have never used the phone have troubles touching the icons with the needed force (which might just be their problem). The external screen should have been much larger. When you use applications such as the Mobile Web 2.0 or Mobile IM, the on-screen QWERTY keyboard is much too small for fingers. Plus, when using the on-screen keyboard for Mobile IM, the phone resets itself 3/4 of the time (this has been known to do so on the LG enV every so often, so it could possibly be an application glitch). The camera options were excellent, but a tad too small. I have to say the sound quality wasn't too great. I compared the Music volume (at it's highest) between the Motorola Krzr and the LG Voyager. The Krzr (with one speaker!) was twice as loud! Not sure what happened there...... except for the fact that only a portion of the speakers are actually real! If you look closely at the internal speakers there is a square shaped dark area on both of them, which is actually the only usable part of them. There are many more issues with the phone but I feel you get the idea. I'm sad to say that when the LG Dare is released I will be switching to it, the Voyager just didn't reach expectations. Overall though, it is a pretty decent phone, but for a $299.99 2 year contract price,I was expecting more.

Not that great of a phone

Phone owned for

I got the LG Voyager the day it came out in November 2007. Since then, I've had 3 replacements (I'm now on Voyager #4)! (Also, these replacements were not my fault, they all had technical errors). They have changed several of the features on the most current one I have that were better than what I originally bought (example: you can now customize the shortcut menu).

What sucks though is that the screen's touch response is slow/delayed. When you use the exterior touch screen and push one button, you'll get another (example: when texting, I'll go to type "m" and an "h" or an "s" comes up instead). Also the screen on numerous times goes black or it will hang up in the middle of call and pull up with a black screen that has the Verizon logo on it (which now the phone is frozen and can't work again until you remove the battery and turn it back on...which is a pain). I'm not technology challenged and have done hard and soft resets of the phone and the hardware (which does not solve the problem).

Oh and if you so much as think about browsing ringtones or downloading apps, Verizon's going to charge $1.99. Be careful as they have changed some of their billing and you are now being charged for every time you use Get It Now (which used to be free!) (Example: I was browsing ring tones on my phone one day and just for that little 10 minute period of time, they charged me $22!)

Yeah it's a sleek phone and the newest thing on the block, but it's not worth $400! :)

P.S. The camera doesn't have a flash...what were they thinking?!?!?!

amazing phone

Phone owned for

i got this phone on easter for an early birthday present, and it is like, beyond words amazing. the touchscreen is beautiful and works like a charm (although once in a while, like if u hav an animated background, the background pic may lag), but i hav nothing bad to say about this phone. the keyboard is beautiful, and i got some music on it, and it sounds pretty good as it is on the front wit the touchscreen controls, but when u open it up, the two speakers sound amazing. the camera is SICK. its like a low megapixel quality digital camera, or probably even better. it has photoshop like features on it like zoom view, move, rotate, etc. i only wish that it had a flash (and maybe zoomed in a lil further). and then the coverage and the service is the best ive ever had. verizon is the best in new jersey. everywhere i go i hav at least 1/3 signal, which is plenty enough to make a call/text. pretty much, this phone is a god as long as u can pay for the service like the messagin, vcast, web, email, etc.

Not a Good Phone

Phone owned for

The phone is bad. It has one great feature and that is I sold it on eBay for $500! and I got my self a motorola Q9m. Trust me the touch screen sucks and it doesn't give good feedback. The phone is cheaply made and is not worth $300. Another thing I don't like about it is you cannot customize anything unlike my Q can. So just don't waste your money unless your plan is like my and you hustle people on eBay and get your money back and some.

Awesome Phone and completely satisfied

Phone owned for

I do majority texting and little calling. I love the bells and whistles of this device and the features of it. The mobile tv doesnt work in my area but when I travel to other areas it works perfectly. The keyboard took some getting use to especially coming from a blackberry. I love the internet browser on the phone. The browser isnt up to the speed of Opera but then again what browser is. The phone is a must have. The only thing that plagues me is coming to terms which accessories to buy for the blasted thing. I wouldnt trade this Voyager for anything.

Great Phone

Phone owned for

i got this phone late Dec before new years. i think this is a great phone. i have unlimited text and so im on aim too and im hittin almost 3000 text. the features are pretty good, i make my own ringtones. i got it for 150 after rebates, free overnight shipping. what more can you ask for?! i pretty much use everything that is featured on this phone except for the GPS.

since i use the phone all of the time, the battery life doesnt usually last throughout the whole day, but that's what you should expect for using it the whole day! i do wish that there was a flash but the speech during the pictures "say cheeeese!" is just hilarious for my 2 year old niece. i cant watch you tube on here or use anything that has requires flash and dont forget to get a screen protector, it may not look as beautiful but its pretty damn close.

My personal favorite

Phone owned for

The value that this device gives you is simply amazing. You DON'T need an expensive data plan to get the most out of this phone. It's sleek, stylish, and the qwerty keypad lets you text extremely quickly. This phone has spoiled me in the sense that I will never T9 ever again! (Although you can T9 on this phone if you so choose) - The features of this phone are also something that was a big selling point for me... VZNavigator, Mobile IM, Mobile E-mail, SMS/MMS, a FULL html web browser and a completely updated interface.

It's not perfect though, it definitely has some problems. The HTML browser doesn't support Flash - so don't expect to jump on YouTube or anything. There is also no threaded SMS messaging and the personal organizer features are a bit lacking (You've got your standard Calendar, notepad, alarm, tip calculator, etc) - The camera also has no flash, so taking pictures in low-light conditions is pretty much out of the question. (Bright conditions produce very nice snapshots though)

Also be aware that the screen is very prone to smudging and scratching. There's no real way to get around it, so if you use this thing as much as I do, your screen will tend to get a little scratchy. It doesn't bother me, but I just thought I'd mention it.

The phone works best with a memory card, but seems to have trouble with some of them. I've got a 1GB card that's over a year old and every now and then it will stop reading completely. I believe this to be a problem with the memory card, not the phone. Either way - you will almost definitely need a MicroSD card for this phone, even though this phone is cheaper than most high-end smartphones, you will need to add about 30-50.00 more for a good MicroSD card to hold your music collection/photos/etc

Life is Good (LG)

At first I hesitated on this phone because my brother has the I phone. However, this phone is so awesome that I forgot all about my brother's dumb I phone. I prefer this phone over it anyway because of the keyboard and it is not bound to apple in various ways (need itunes for music..etc).
When someone looks at this phone on the web, or in public they are always astonished by how the phone's design. The only thing I wish this phone had was flash. To watch videos on youtube you have to go to mobile youtube. Although, its speed on the web tramples on the iphones. I luv this phone and would not give it up for anything. Best phone EVER!!

I Love This Phone

Phone owned for

Well, from reading up on this phone and using my buddies at work, I feel this phone is great. The weight, the size, and the look are just great. It's functions are easy to use and I love the dual speaker. When looking into the Iphone (competion) I found it ran into a lot of problems. That's something i don't look forward to.So, this Friday i'm going out getting myself the brand new Voyager...Hey you gotta treat yourself sometimes, and with the Voyager you'll do just that: )...P.S. Sweet Phone!!!!

Cell Guru

Alright, the LG VOYAGER a.k.a.- The MOST OVERHYPED PHONE OF the '07 HOLIDAY SEASON!!! :)... O.K., the phone itself is a glorified enV. And there is nothing wrong with that, the enV is a great and hugely popular phone. BUT, I have a problem when LG plants the seed (of course, for their profits) that the Voyager is an Iphone 'competitor'. What?! O.K., so the Iphones got a pretty damn good internet interface last time I checked, and wow, LG's Voyager has a low-tech basic excuse for a browser that you can get VERY basic webpages. Think enV quality. Again, I'm not picking on the phone, but when people say it's an Iphone competitor, it's not really... the Iphone feels 10x's more sturdy and well-built as the Voyager feels tinny, no guts. So, if you want touch screen to show all your friends how cool it is to touch a plastic screen and watch it digitally change, awesome. But as far as the Holiday hype? Not worth it! :)

Awesome phone

Phone owned for

So i read a few of the other people who reviewed this phone.. I noticed that the people rating this extremely low have been people stating they have worked for other carriers such as AT&T or sprint, in other reviews. So of course when verizon comes out with a good phone they will grade it lower..

In all the phone is really sharp. Its looks are great, handling is great. Dont get me wrong i at one time had the Iphone, but like many i had numerous problems with it and finally cancelled my contract with AT&T due to there custome treatment and overall frustration. I now have the Voyager and love it.. i have no problems with it,except for that battery life. not the greatest only lasting a day to a day and a half. .. The other thing thats missing from this phone is the WI FI. But then again with Verizon you can get unlimited HTML(internet access) for just 15 bucks and that included vcast and mobile TV for a month. Great offers!! this is a company that not only makes a great phone but a company that cares about there customers. So in all phone has great features and has things the Iphone didnt have, like the full keyboard and ease of use with txt and email Thnx to the service i recieved i dont see myself leaving them for awhile..

I have this phone and to people who say that it has problems are not cool. Occasionally the machine that makes the phone makes a mistake. So if it is not what you anticcipated than fine but i truely believe that it depends on the person. I love it and the touch screen is awesome! i got mine for christmas and all my friends want it so like i said depends on the person. But if you give it a little more time than i am sure that you will end up loving it, like all the phones that you have had and started out not liking because it was different than your other phone and than you got used to it. So give it time and you will love it. Also the new fonts that you can choose from are awesome no other phone has that it also has a lot of new technology. It is different and new and awesome. It makes the env look like junk. Booya! Also i think they are coming out with a white one so anyone who reads this and wants a voyager than wait and get the white one. Hope you enjoy your voyager that you have or are going to get.

I have had the phone since late November. It took some getting used to but I really like it now. It does hum when it's open. Mine also reset itself occasionally. I took it in for the software upgrade and have not had the problem since. Everyone should get the upgrade ASAP. It has to be done at a Verizon place and take about 15-30 minutes. It fixes minor bugs and greatly improves the browser interface.

I also work for Verizon, for 2 years actually now. I had this phone the 1st day it came out, had it for 1 week and sold it for twice for what I paid for it. I loved it though, the Iphone is a good phone but it's definately in the wrong network! Advantages over the Iphone: Qwerty keyboard, 2 screens, better camera, mobile TV and the BEST NETWORK IN THE US!!!
