so yeah i ordered my chocolate the day it came out and i got it thursday. i've had it 3 days and i absolutely love it!! it's so small and i love the touch screen feature. i was also really impressed with the camera too. it takes really good pictures. i also love the fact that you can answer it without having to open it and that it had VZW's sond id feature. the only thing is that it seems like i have to charge the battery every night but that's maybe cuz i talk on it alot. any whoo, i love it!!
So, I had had my old cell phone for about 3 years. It was a small Samsung: it took crappy pictures, the text was too big for the screen, and there were horrible ringtone and wallpaper options. But it was the cheapest of the "nice" phones, so I bought it.
This time around I said, "hey, let's not buy the phone that breaks halfway through your contract and you have to deal with it for a year because you dont want to shell out the cash for a full price phone." So I bought the newest LG chocolate (in black). I didn't realize it at the time, but I bought it on the first day it came out - it was only $99!!! I didn't get the headphone/music pack that comes with it because... i have an iPod. I'm not going to use my phone as an MP3 player. Although, I think it's important to have the OPTION to put music on my phone if I would like to. This makes me feel important.
So overall I am REALLY pleased with the phone. First of all, it looks cool. It's sleek and black... it's thin and it slides. The surface is smooth because the buttons on the top are touch sensitive. When it lights up it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. I didn't own an older chocolate phone, but from what I've heard the button placement on the new one is a lot better. The send and end buttons are easy to hit, the volume is conveniently located right there on the side. There is a headphone jack and some other fancy things that I probably won't ever use (what a waste, huh).
The speaker is loud and clear. There are hundreds of options to customize the phone just the way you want it. The screen is big and colorful. Text messaging is easier with T9 (didn't have it on my old phone). And the best part: I feel much much cooler with my new phone.
Now, I must have been living in the phone camera stoneage - I think the camera is great!!! I dont' care how many megapixels it is or how many options you have to even out the whtie balance and resolution and blah blah blah. It's a phone! Who expects a phone to take award winning photography?? NOT ME! You couldn't even tell what I was taking pictures of on my old phone and you could take two 30 second videos.... you can take a whole HOUR of video with this phone!!
I have found two things that I don't like about this phone... number one: like everyone has said and will keep on saying, it's a huge fingerprint magnet. I have to wipe it off everytime i use to because I'm a little OCD. But no biggie, right? Number two: When you're talking on the phone there is no (at least not that I've been able to find) easy way to turn on the speaker phone. You have to hit unlock and ok and ok and speaker etc, it just goes on forever and by the time you get it on, you've missed half the conversation you were having. I get that this is probably because if the buttons weren't locked, your cheek would hit it... but it's still annoying. Or maybe there is a setting that I can switch that I haven't found yet. We'll have to see about that.
Anyways, overall this is a cool phone! If you're someone who doesn't need a 8000 megapixel phone and 50 gigs of memory etc then you'll be very pleased with the LG VX8550.
This new phone is great. It is slimmer than the old Chocolate, but they are the same lengths. The VX8550 [new chocolate] has a scroll wheel very similar to the iPod, however this actually moves and lights around it move to show you which way you are going. Another option with this scroll wheel is instead of spinning it in circles, you may also just push the left, right, top, or bottom, to move around. The center is a button as well. The screen is bright, and fairly big. Also, the send, end/power, and camera button are now in the area of the number keys. So it is much easier to tell what you are doing. The only touch screen buttons are the clear, speaker, and the top left and right option keys. This phone has the same idea as the old phone, however has some different features, so if you like all of the touch screen keys at the top of the phone, this new one will be a bit of a change for you. Also, the memory is good but not great, so you would want to buy a memory card.
I have recently got my hands on the "new" chocolate, the LG 8550. I was suprised and disapointed at the same time. I do like that they have redone the keypad and the navigation wheel, but was sad to learn that with these improvements they Left the camera at 1.3 megapixels. Why not go for broke and upgrade the camera? But the UI is solid and we no longer need an adapter for headphone jack (thank god). But over all, it is a welcome addition to the LG lineup.
i got this phone for my b-day in feb. and i waited a while till i posted a review so i knew how it was. its utterly amazing!!
