in reply to an above stated response about this phone, there is, in the display options, a way to change the font size of numbers dialed out. I don't know anything about the manual, because I did not need to read it, but it makes sense that it would be under My ringtones, because that is the name of the menu heading. You don't go into the "ringtones" section of get it now, you go into "My ringtones". Sorry that you had a bad experience with such an amazing phone. I have yet to have a single problem with it. I reccomend it to anyone that has used a cell phone in the past, the camera and video camera features are amazingly easy to use, and the fact that you can take pictures in a nearly pitch black area is wonderful. This phone takes the cake, and I would reccomend it to anyone that would even remotely be thinking about buying the Razr. I regret to inform you that the MP3s when put onto your phone can not be made into ringtones by any authorized Verizon program, but there is a system that, though it voids your waranty, can turn songs that you have into ringtones. The program is called BitPim. I have not used it but I have heard of it being used by friends of mine. Overall I have to say that this phone gets an "A" in my book.

P.S. The display settings on this phone are awesome. none of the phones in its class compare. The Razr V3m the Samsung a930, none of them! it takes the cake by far.

This instrument is,by far,a better value,dollar 4 dollar than the LG vx3200. I myself will probably not use all the features available, but I'll have fun trying. My wife still hasn't learned how to use some functions of the vx 3200. Now she has a new phone to play with. Imagine all the possibilities she has to amuse herself. With a bit of luck, she learn to use how to use the camera B 4 the end of the contract term.

I love the phone but I was wondering how I can make the mp3's that I put on my minisd card, into my ringtones. I didnt buy the data cable as I am using my digital camera to put music on the card, and I have yet to figure out how I can make them my ringtones. Can anyone help me it would be appreciated.

Great! I just upgraded to the 8300. Wish I would have found this site first. Has anybody used the GPS part of this phone? Steve

I ordered this phone from Verizon and got it a few days ago.. I am sending it back. While it looks good and sounds excellent it has some very disturbing qualities. The first one is the incredibly small caller ID. They have plenty of room on the screen but the full 10 digits takes up only about one third the width of the screen. Even with reading glasses on it is hard to read.. But of course, if you can see up close this would not be a problem. I just don't understan why, when they have plenty of room, they didn't make the numbers larger. I went and compared these numbers to other phones at a verizon store and, hands down, these were the smallest numbers of any phone. I have been using a VX 4400 which I love, and I thought I was going to upgrade.. The VX4400 is better for another reason.. I couldn't get the VX8300 voice operation to work well.. it works under a different principle.. it trys to read the letters you have programed in to it.. It does a really poor job. It is quicker to just dial the number and less agravating. My VX 4400 recognizes the name you have recorded into it.. a much better system I think. I would not recommend the VX 8000 if either oif these features are important to you.. The manual is not user friendly either. For instance.. when you look up in the alphabetical index you would expect "Ringtones" to be under the letter R.. nope! It it under the letter M.. believe it or not, yes.. It is under the lettr M, for MY Ringtones.. If they make that stupid of a mistake how many others are in the 120 page instruction book?

Well, I'm dropping the question everyone else has dropped.... Is it possible to play mp3's on the 8300 as your ringtone. Is there a program I can use to hack it, and how do I go about doing this?

If you want to use this phone for data connections, there is no mobile office kit available. However, you can use the cable provided in the music kit for the 8300 (available under accessories on the Verizon site) for $19.99 and then use the mobile phone manager from SmithMicro for $29.99. You could not to use the software and configure device as you would with 6100. I have used both phones and the data connections works for both. I will wait for kit from LG that is supposed to be out in next several months. You could also try BitPim free software that helps manage synchronization to Outlook.

go to menu press 0 then the pass key comes up , its all 0's. go to 11 music setup. enable mp3 and ur set to listen to them cause there unblocked, verizon locks them so it an make more money off of vcast music. just insert ur mem card and drag and drop them into the my mp3 folder on ur card. one more thing you have to do is format the card, that is in the phones menu under manage memory

I am so disappointed with this phone. It looks great and works well. You would think a newwer phone would do more than an older phone...but not this one they dont make a mobile office kit for it and Verizon says they have disabled Blue tooth internet connections. My Lg 6100 would go online and just use my miutes with a data cable that is impossible with this one. Who understands technology

JUST GOT MY LG VX 8300 A FEW DAYS AGO. HAVE AN OLDER LG CELL PHONE, SAW A FRIENDS LG VX 8100 AND WAS HOT TO BUY ONE. WAITED, AND BOUGHT THE 8300. BOUGHT THE 1 GIG MINI SD MEMORY CARD FOR IT AS WELL. IT IS A GREAT MUSIC PLAYER AS I HAVE PUT 195 SONGS ON IT WITH SOME ROOM TO SPARE. BEEN PLAYING AROUND WITH THE VIDEO CAPTURE AND SET MINE FROM 15 SECOND VIDEOS TO AVAILABLE MEMORY. I HAVE CONVERTED SOME SHORT MPEG1 VIDEOS (

I just want to know, the article aboves says you can listen to mp3 throught your bluetooth . Will someone please tell me how this possible.I have been trying for a while and cant figure it out. On the other hand this phone is has not given me any problems at all. Except I think that they could have added more internal memory and the battery life could be a little better.

the lg 8300 is one of the best phones i have ever had, aside from having great reception, and call clarity, it also has those new features that make it a funner phone. it supports blue tooth, has an mp3 player, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and has the option to record video as long as you want, as long as the phone has the memory. the battery life is very good, and i haven't had to put the speaker on it's highest volume, im actually afraid that it will ruin the speakers, that's how loud they are! if your looking for a new phone, look no further, this is a great phone that does the job right, and packs all the new features you could want.

This is my 2nd New Every Two upgrade, from the VX4400 to the VX7000 to the VX8300.

Overall, LGs provide a decent quality at a decent price. LG also tends to make tradeoffs with features I would not (like removing the Answering Machine feature that was in the 4400). They've also moved some of the standard keys around, which I would prefer they kept consistent.

PRO:
THe 8300 is a small, solid feeling phone. The feature set for the price is hard to match (I've heard VZW as increased the price). It does everything it does decently. Not spectacularly, but decently.

CONS:
The keypad itself is cramped, and slightly off-kilter. Many phones have space around each key. THe 8300 does not. The outside clock is small at it's largest.

A good bang for the buck

I just opened the box and looked @ the phone. My first reaction is wow what a good looking phone. The reason why I upgraded to this LG from my Audiovox 8910 VZW was because after a year of use the audiovox would not let me take pictures and the battery life was very poor. This phone "LG VX 8300 VzW" Caught My attention when I first layed eyes on it on this website. Anyway I am amazed @ the price for the phone and the Full Retail Price is only
$250.00 US.The speakers are great. The Flash menus are great too , it even lets you choose the colors of you bars @ the top of the phone. Overall go and get this Phones. I just had to give this phone a high rating because overall its a great phone with features and looks @ a stunning price.

Should of got the phone sooner.

As I thought when I purchased the phone, a newer model meant an improvement over the previous model. Boy do I miss the 8100. Sure the 83 looks cooler and is lighter, but good luck finding ringtones you like, or some of the other features you may take for granted on the 81. For instance, checking messages on the front screen, and considering it's supposed to have better resolution, the front display is horrible.

So I have had this phone for about a week and the one thing I'm sooooo happy about is overall call clarity, and reception. I have had several phones in the last year, and this is by far the best, especially coming from an LG-VX7000. The LG-7000 has nice features, well at least for when it was new to the market, but dropped calls constantly in my home area, where signal strength is weak. The 8300 can hold on to a call even in my basement, and large buildings! This phone also has an amazing feature set. The MP3/WMA player is awesome(to unlock the advanced MP3 player, you must access the secret menu by pressing "0" after you press menu then type 000000 as the service code and unlock it from there within the secret menu, under get it now). It also has many bluetooth profiles unlike many other phones out there, and even works the USB blue tooth adapter I have plugged into my laptop. This phone has everything, but most of all it retains the nature of a true phone, and it just WORKS! Thanks LG -"Life's good :)"
