This is my first phone. And I really don't like how this phone performs. The phone is good for the some parts but also pure hell for the most. Every time when you slide the phone (in some points) or when it hit something (like a table or stairs) a bit hard, it cause the AGGEY, annoying reboot. The camera is not bad but needs auto-focus and needs to be more of a better quality type. The phone, however, does offer good call quality and some perfect design. It's really rugged, tough on some scratches. And the phone can also cause the screen to go complete black and forcing you to get an replacement phone. I PERSONALLY don't trust this phone and this is not worth your money. IT'S better to get a smartphone other than that "dumb phone" that pretends to be smart but in the end, it acts like an idiot.
This is a great starter phone you can edit pictures and add funny icons on them great kid phone. Videos quality well its basic talk and text so tyur not getting HD. think is was 320x240 resolution . It has facebook but very slow the javascript running this phone under 3g is brutally slow. Would of been great under wifi but that wasnt a feature.
Great phone but the original battery died. Virgin and Sprint no longer support this phone -- be advised! I needed a new battery and Sprint offered to sell me a new phone. Virgin did absolutely nothing to help. I was coerced into shelling out another 150.00 while my Rumor Touch is perfectly fine but no more batteries!!!!
I've had this phone for two years, and it's been very good to me! I don't have a data plan, so I only use it to talk and text (and I'm a heavy texter), and there have been very few problems with it overall.
The slide-out qwerty keyboard is awesome- it has a separate number row which is extra convenient (my old phone didn't have that and it was a bit more of a hassle to add contacts using the slide-out keyboard. No problem with the Rumor Touch though!). The keyboard keys are really solid and I like having the physical raised keys so I can text without looking at the keyboard.
The keyboard does make it fatter, but the phone is still pretty small overall (and I've always liked smaller phones since they're easier to fit in pockets) and that makes it easier to type with the keyboard anyways.
Call reception and quality is good, I haven't noticed any problems with it so it's pretty standard. I rarely used the speakerphone because I always felt like I had to talk super loud even in a quiet room for the other person to hear me, but it didn't really matter to me because I didn't need to use it that often.
Pictures are decent- I take pictures with my phone and upload them to facebook and the quality isn't really that bad! The only issue is when people send me pictures from their phones that have better cameras- the resolution on the Rumor Touch makes it hard to see them clearly, especially if it's a detailed picture.
The battery life is awesome! I used to charge my phone every night, but then I realized there was no need to do that. With heavy use/a lot of texting, I can usualy go 2-3 days without charging it. If I'm only using it once in a while, I can go a lot longer than that!
The only problem I had with my phone was that sometimes I couldn't send texts. I would get a message that said something along the lines of 'network error', and I would have to turn my phone off and then back on to be able to text again. It happened pretty rarely when I first got my phone two years ago, but recently it's been happening a lot. I'm pretty sure it's because I dropped my phone a lot though (like, quite a lot...) so it's been acting up. Sometimes I don't get texts from other people until hours after they send it (this can also be fixed by restarting the phone though, if you know you're supposed to be getting texts but aren't).
I love this phone, though! It's simple and easy to use. I wouldn't get this phone if you have a data plan (I think smartphones are the way to go for internet use anyways), but if you just want a decent phone to talk and text, then definitely get this one!
I went from having the palm pixi from sprint to this phone, it was a huge downgrade. I do like the qwerty keyboard it has and even though the camera is 2megapix, its not that bad.
Now, the calls...
There is a slider you have to move to the left to answer calls. After you move the slider to the left, the screen changed so that you have to slide it to the left again to hang up.
This is the problem, When you slide to the left, the slider sometimes stays to the left until the next screen with the "hang up" comes on and causes you to auto-hang up on people.
The web browser on this phone is horrible, i never use it.
The google maps gps on this phone takes way to long to load up. Feels like it takes about 7min to actually start working.
This phone just feels like it emphesises texting only.
The phone is a ok phone. Texting is good on it so is calling, and battery life. when taking videos bad quality sound pic's arent good quality either. I hate using internet becausse its just weird... and I got my original one in June 2010 and iv'e had 4 replacements, 1st one i droped while it was slid out completely snaped in half, 2nd fell in water for small amount of time, and 3rd one suddently stopped working i went to plug it into charger came back 15-20min later wouldnt turn on.
The LG Rumor Touch from Sprint has been the top feature phone gathering more than 1,000 reviews on Sprint's official website compared to most feature phones that manages to collect up to 200-300 reviews at best. It is a phone that clearly cannot be missed standing proud with a big (big for a feature phone) 3" display, touchscreen. Another feature to capture our attention is the fairly unique user interface for easy text messaging (Notification/Text messaging bubbles displayed on the home screen) and contact arrangement (Hello UI). Nothing like these offered on other feature phones, so I decided to give it a go.
My first reaction was at the empty home screen. A blank stare. I immediately went into settings to figure out a way to put a calendar or a clock, but failed. The home screen is meant to stay clear for text messaging bubbles to fill it up, but that's only if you receive text messages constantly. Otherwise, your home screen will look blank. Put a nice background and be content.
The 5-row qwerty keyboard was impressive. I enjoyed the clicking feel and the glossy spacious look. You get to learn how to text quickly with this keyboard.
The design is pretty satisfying. I wasn't overwhelmed and/or excited when I first received this phone through mail. I already knew what to expect by looking at the pictures online. It is a solid build, design nothing to complain about, and it is overall durable (having it dropped a couple times on bumpy concrete, just scratches on the edge of the phone).
Battery life is consistent and stable. I only used calling and texting when I had this phone, so my battery life would last me 3 days with average usage. Charges fairly quickly as well.
Sound was clear and loud from what I remember. Speaker phone was a little cracky towards the louder end, but understanding has been no issue.
After 3 months, I began to experience technical difficulties which included the screen going black while in the middle of texting, screen lag, and freezing. Only occurred once in a while, not too often, so I was able to ignore most of it. I do dislike the resistive touchscreen though. Women might like this as you do not need skin contact, but rather your finger nails will do perfectly. Good when you feel your hands are dirty or greasy and you can use something else to poke the touchscreen instead.
Overall this phone is decent. It hasn't died or failed me permanently. I don't know how long this phone can continue working to its maximum performance, but finish experiencing these problems give me a glimpse that it might work for another year or two. After that, you may not be able to handle it any much longer. See for yourself!
As a feature phone, I am rating this 8/10.
As a phone in general, I may have given it a score far lower.
Well ive had this phone for more than a year & its amazing im 13 & i love it the messageing is amazing since im a text alot this is great i think that the call signal is great i hear everything perfect i love it its amazing i feel like i have the world in the palm of my hand well the point is that the phone is great i couldnt ask for better ohh but i think they could have worked on the camera a little better its kinda bad well other than that its great i think this phone is worth your while & i hope that you like it as much as me.
Overall the phone is good.... Where I live I don't have good signal :/ I can barely send out or receive text messages.... It lets me call out and receive calls great though! :) I am hoping that it is just messed up for today..... because I have only had it for one day! :)
very good one of the best feature phones ive ever had! it has a good not great but none the less good camera gets good reception and has very good call quality. the qwerty keyboard is also a good adition. overall a good phone for anyone looking for a quality phone that can text, have web access, and be able to download data.
Has some quirks, but is a good alternative to a more expensive Android or iOS handset. Functional web browsing with Opera Mini 6, good texting. Test it out first at a Sprint store to make sure that you wouldn't rather drop the extra change to get a more full-featured device, like the LG Optimus S.
I really like my Rumor 2. But I am very disappointed with the Rumor Touch.
1) The touchscreen seems very flimsy. I'm not convinced this will last the year.
2) It is very hard to customize without virtually hacking the thing.
Almost every config for this phone requires connection to the Internet. If you do not have Internet connection in your subscription, I bet you could rack up the fees and charges very quickly without realizing it. I suspect they did this on purpose and that is why this phone is so cheap. They're making money off it by fees or upgrading your plan.
I suppose if you're into Facebook and chatting a lot, this could be a nice phone. If you just want a phone for work with texting capabilities, I'd skip it. In fact, I'm just going back to my Rumor 2. Oh well :)
I have had My LG Banter ( Rumor Touch) For less than a month and it is already severly messing up. 9 out of 10 calls gets drooped and out of that conversation i have to call the other person back atleast twice!! its ridiculous. The amount of mone you pay for a quality phone you would think the manufacturor would get MOST of the kinks out before it goes on shelves. I have also had connection problems and Duplicate text problems. I know in regards to the text problem they are "working" on it.. really? cuz its darn near annoying to get the same text 3-4 times!! atleast! if it were just once i could deal but c'mon your phone chimming every 10 seconds is crazy.
The pro features are the big touch screen makes things easier to see and read, also dial so your not hitting wrong numbers. I also like the Qwerty keyboard for texting w/ slide out feature. it makes it very convienent.
Also i was reading one of the above posts im not sure if it was answered or not regarding answering your phone when the phone gets "locked" you can also answer your phone the "old fashion way" jus hit green answer or RED end button LOL.. i appologize if that was alreday answered. i figured id say something because after many frustrations that being one.. i said heck an jus started pressing any ol button.I am blessed to have the Cell company I have now though because they are working w/ me an im not STUCK with this thing.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to purchase this phone when my contract was up at uscellular. They had recalled it for powercycling and other "small" problems. It seems to be a very great phone! and was the ONLY phone I decided on due to it doesn't require the data plans and what not. I really hope they decide to bring this phone back in working condition because not only I would love to enjoy this phone but others as well!!!!!
worst phone ive ever had it touch screen always goes out its just awful its reception is terrible it charges me for nothing i did . just a bad phone overalll never again will i buy this phone ive had to get a new one 3 time now and it has even been 2 months!!! i mustve got a default from what you people are saying wish mine was as good as yours!!!!
okay well i had the phone for less than 3 months and i think overall its not bad of a phone, the camera could be a little better, the web is slow compared to others , i like the slide out keyboard with 5 rows i think this a very good phone for teens with the text and easy to use touch screen, i havent had a problem with it yet i just think i could've been a little bit better.
This phone is great for text messaging it also is ok for social networking. The hello ui interface is nice. The themed backgrounds are cool. The touch screen is pretty good. I like the camera and camcorder a lot. I have the purple one and I must say it's a pretty sleek looking device. If you're looking for a affordable messaging phone but not cheaply made with cool features than this is wonderful.I love this phone. It definitely beats the samsung seek! :)
This phone is great! I love the new interface. The Hello UI Interface is cool. I love how messages appear like bubbles. The 5 row QWERTY keyboard is great too. The keys are spacious and have a bubble like feel to them. You can also notice the tactile feed back. The touchscreen is OK for a handset like this. When you scroll the menu and tap something, it sometimes doesn't register it. Thier is also a social tab that has Facebook and myspace. Thier is not alot of apps on this phone. You can download them from other websites but its hard. The stock web browser is kind of bad. If you want a better browser, you can download the Opera Mini Web Browser 5.1. It really improves your web browsing in this phone. The 2.0 Megapixel camera took OK pictures. Their are alot of setting to choose from. You can do fun frames, zoom, change resolutions, etc. However, their is NO autofocus, panorama, microfocus, smile shot, etc. This phone is stylish and attracts teens.
The LG Rumor touch is a great phone at a great price, but it is fairly locked down. There are ways around these lock downs. It is fairly easy to get free ringtones and 3rd party apps now that we've figured it out. The Virgin Mobile version appears more locked down.
I like the phone except the Unlock feature. I realize it's a touch screen, but locking the phone while I am using it, is very annoying. I don't want to have to unlock a phone before I can end a call. Or send a message.
Also, would like to use my homepage.
I switched to print from verizon and decided on the LG Rumor Touch. It is a great phone. The touch screen is very responsive, the internet is quick, and I love the qwerty keyboard-- it makes texting a lot faster and easier. It is a very easy phone to learn how to use. The preloaded ring tones are pretty good, and the preloaded screen savers are really cool. I really like that the phone comes with the SD Micro card, and the adapter. I went on ebay and purchased a screen protector and case for really cheap to keep my phone safe, and they work great.
I have recently bought a rumor touch and the performance is great so far. the applications and music is quick and easy to download. The slide out keyboard is really good and the buttons do not come out. The battery life is pretty good. And the texting is the best part. If you get this phone you better get texting. Over all i like it.
To clarify a few previous points: The little green light blinking indicates missed calls - try to open your missed-calls list, I believe. The Home screen can be customized, and re-ordered, by simply clicking the "'+' add" button, at the bottom of the list. [Most any function or folder, that I can see, can be brought to the front and placed on the Home screen for easy reference. To re-order your buttons on the Home screen, when you hit Edit, just touch and hold an item, drag and drop.] I've had this phone just a little while, and I'm pleased. It has a little better reception than the last "rugged" flip phone I got from Sprint. It sends messages that are in its Pending folder very quickly - as soon as it gets a hint of a roaming signal, which is good for me where I live. I like that they call the "Airplane Mode" "Airplane/Music mode" - so you can turn the reception off, and therefore don't have to be microwaved all the time, if you want to keep your phone close, or on your person and listen to music - like at work, or something like that. [That button, to toggle that, can be put on the Home screen, too]The Sprint Store Salesperson looked up in its book, as he was activating it, and told me that the max storage on this for the Micro SD cards is ~ 32GB. [. . . I got this at the store, with signing a no-stress service contract, for about 50 dollars. It was less online, and I'm sure they're less refurbished.]But, pretty nice to have as a pseudo iPhone/iPod touch that is easily upgradeable, with the Micro SD cards. . . . Not worried that it doesn't have Wi-Fi, as data plans are getting less expensive, if I really felt I needed that. [Comes with a 1GB card included, some nice ring tones and such (and a Micro SD -> SD adapter card).]The Sprint Store didn't have a protecting case of some kind, but Amazon has them for about 6 dollars - search LG Touch & "Rubberized" [all different colors - with screen protector]. Available in Red, Blue, and a pretty Purple.
I haven't had my Rumor Touch that long so I haven't had the opportunity to explore entirely. I also feel the main screen is a lot of blank space that could be better untilized with shortcuts, and wish there were screen options when the phone is locked. I use my Hello UI the most when making calls and texting; it takes too long to navigate any other way. The fact that when making a call the screen does not go to the dial pad is pretty frustrating... I understand that with a touch phone it needs to lock but when on a call it makes it real difficult to get to the dial pad without being cut off - it even makes it difficult to hang up when you've finished a call. I love the bubbles and that the status light blinks red when you have a missed call, voice mail and/or new text msg. I don't like that the status light blinks green all of the other time... so far I can't find any options to change this. It would be nice if the status light only blinked green when you had an open app, or something like that - just not all the time. I find texting easy, calls are clear, the speaker phone works well, camera seems to work well, I can get my personal and work email and calendars, I use the alarm and phone calendar on a daily basis - overall happy. Maybe some day they'll have an update to fix some of the other issues people are having with the phone.
First I would like to correct that that phone does NOT support ringtones in MP3 format. You either have to buy them or use a free service like Myxer.com to create your ringtones. Myxer has been the only ringtone creation service I have found that's ringtones are high quality. I used PhoneZoo and the rings sounded terrible. So low quality that you could hardly tell what the song was.Battery life seems to be really great. My wife is the one that owns this phone. She uses it constantly throughout the day for calls and texting and comes home with over half the battery. The built in web browser is terrible. We tried putting the Opera Mini browser and it was an improvement but there are too many glitches to continue using it. Scrolling around the page causes the text to warp and distort to the point it can't be read. You'd think with a touch screen they'd be capable of having a full HTML browser instead of formatting everything to a mobile version. I also think the screen resolution could be much better. It just looks old. We are ex-Helio Ocean users and it's screens resolution was very nice. I'd say twice as good as the LG Rumor Touch's screen resolution. The other thing is the home screen. It's almost completely useless. It's just a big empty space. For a touch screen you should be able to add shortcut icons to apps, folders or contacts. Unless you really love your wallpaper and don't want anything to cover it up, it's just a big empty waste of space.Overall I think it's a pretty good phone. JAR apps can be pretty unstable as times and there are a lot of apps that GetJar.com says are compatible with the LG Rumor Touch but are not because they require a numeric keypad and do not support the touch screen. My wife used the built in Sprint Navigation once and it took her in circles then in the wrong direction and to a location that was not what she was looking for. She ended up just calling me and having me search for it on Google Maps while I was at home. We tried downloading the Google Maps app for her phone but, like I mentioned, it does not support the touch screen and there is almost no way of actually using the app. Navigation was one of the key features she was looking for. If Navigation is important to you, you might want to reconsider. Or I suggest trying it out very frequently during your first 30 days and see if it works any better for you.
