I upgraded from my old Sanyo flip phone with no camera and no vision capability so anything is better than that. I have to say I love the LG Rumor even though I have had nothing better to compare it to. The slideout keyboard is awesome and very easy to use, texting is a breeze. I wish the phone supported power vision but oh well I had nothing before. The web connection is pretty fast and fine for what I need it for. I also wish there was a flash on the camera for better picture quality but that's why I have a digital camera. All in all I think the LG Rumor is a great phone. It looks and feels nice and it's certainly an upgrade from my old Sanyo flip phone. If your some corporate snob or some rich spoiled kid who wants the fastest web speed and a high resolution camera and basically a phone that can do everything for you than I wouldn't recommend it so do your research before you get this phone and then badmouth it. But if you want a nice phone with great reception, a sweet qwerty keyboard, and a decent web connection than the LG Rumors for you.
I have to say i have had no problems with the phone at all since i've gotten it a few weeks ago. the internet is pretty fast, not instantaneous but nice and smooth. The email and IM services work very well and mobile games arent so bad. the only problem i have is the ergonomics. whenever i push the center OK button (which is alot) it kind of hurts. The button is so small. it's expensive for ringers because we dont have the new $0.99 cents music price. games are expensive at $7 and tax. Ringers cost $2.50 and tax. the good side is that you can get songs via USB or MicroSD card both sadly not included. i wished that the USB came in the package but all you get are manuals and the charger. battery life is excellent and design is good. camera is ok and video capture especially of a PC screen is surprisingly good. bluetooth and display are great. go ahead and delete the application called "mobile faker" as soon as you get the phone. its retardedly stupid. it was a waste of my time and air minutes. thats right it uses up actual minutes from your plan.
I think that this a really awesome phone, but all of a sudden I am having problems. It has like no signal strength, and I am typing this at a sprint store. It kind of sucks that it is broken and when these kind of things happen you have to wait 30 minutes for them to look at the phone, and then you have the possibility of having to pay 30 bucks to fix it. The phone is under 2 mnths old, and I haven't done anything bad with it, so it is probably just the phone which sucks because I have to pay for something which I didn't do
I ordered this phone from Sprint the day they released it after debating back and forth about this or the Mogul, but decided the Mogul would probably be overkill for my needs. I haven't been sorry yet. The sliding keyboard was an initial draw (as I do a lot of texting), but what I really appreciate is the reception. I work in an OLD bldg that kills most phone signals. This is the 5th phone I've had since I started working here and this is the one with the best reception. Customers are always asking me how I can get a signal...I tell them to get the Rumor.
I have also been very pleased with the battery life, although when I use it to IM it does suck the battery a lot quicker.
Contrary to what has been said in a previous post, I have had no problem downloading ringers (or you can put them on the Micro SD and transfer over)
I do agree the camera quality leaves some to be desired, but it still takes acceptable photos.
One must remember that this is NOT a PDA, although with a little bit of ingenuity, there are a lot of things done with a PDA that can be done with the Rumor...it just does not have some of the high end apps.
I am still playing with this and learning more about the features on a continual basis. One thing...make sure toupdate the firmware as soon as possible. Maybe it was just coincidence, but prior to updating the firmware, logging on to Yahoo IM was hot or miss. Now, it is a sure thing.
This phone is great for text messaging and that is all. The full keyboard is cool. Sprint offers two versions of the internet, Vision and Power Vision. This phone only supports Vision, the slower service. This first generation of phones is horrible. Update your firmware as soon as you can. If you press an unknown button pattern when starting up this phone it will send it into a service required mode that you can't fix. You will have to have the phone replaced, so get the INSURANCE, PLEASE. Also the plastic exterior screen that protects the LCD is thin and it is easy to break the LCD screen, so be careful. I almost forgot this phone loves to drop a lot of calls, so have fun with that.
Love the easy design. The menu is easy and slide-down QWERTY keyboard is such a great feature that I even enjoy putting in my CONTACTS. Most everything about this phone is easy and enjoyable.
I payed 49.99 for this, thanks to a special offer and 2-yr agreement, and I would have spend more for it.
POSITIVES: slick design, QWERTY keyboard is just terrific, memory card feature works great with mp3's, menu is simple, perfect fit for my pocket, camera works great, memory is fast, works fantastic with headset.
NEGATIVES: POOR battery, call time is low, bluetoothing files from phones doesnt always work, can ONLY get ring tones from web, have to make custom video files for free ringtones, have to buy a memory card and headset which is annoying
Overall: 8.1
When I first saw this phone on the website, I wasn't impressed. I was actually going to get the Palm Centro. But when a friend bought it, I was like "that's my phone"! I'm a text junkie so this phone is GREAT, but it does lack alot too! I upgraded from the MotoK1m, and just like that phone this one has a 1.3 mp camera but for some reason this one sucks in comparison. Plus I would really love a flash, the last phone I had with a flash was the Samsung A900. But all in all I really love this phone so far i've only had it 2 days (please NO BUGS)!!!
Like many of you I text more than I call. This phone makes that so much easier. With the attached memory card and headphone jack convereter you can use this as an mp3 player. Also takes decent pictures and video for mailing or you can transfer them to your PC through the data cable. Bluetooth ready (great for the bluetoothstereo headphones.)
Easy to use and fun to play with
This phone is very superior phone. The reason why I say this is because you can do so may things with this phone. You can take pictures, record, internet accsess and a whole lot more. This phone has a slide out keypad which is great for texting. Their are a lot of features on this phone which makes it great for everything you doi with it. The worst thing about this phone is the picture taking it is not very good. So anyone out there who is looking for a phone, I'm telling you, this is the one.
I just got the phone yesterday and I already love it. Any of you guys out there who are looking for a phone this is the one. The design is just fabulous, I love the features on it you can do so many things with it like internet access and you can get on facebook. It also has a camcorder for recording things On the phone it has a lot more features. Personally, my favorite thing is the slide out key pad. I love to text and with those other phones, you won't be able to text as fast as you would like to. I'm telling you this phone is so great, and if you liked this reveiw you will like the phone.
I work for sprint customer care and it takes a half hour because people call in and spend an hour on the phone with us because they are bored and have no one else to talk to.. and to answer your question you do need a $15 vision plan to access the messanger.. and if you do not have one it is .3 cents per kb.. and the rumor is an awesome phone however does not have power vision so does not support power vision features which kind of sucks! but for those of you who love to text it would be the perfect phone!
I have had lots of different types of cellphones, from the Razr to the infamous Treo and many many more... but for good reasons I absolutely love the Rumor. I just recently signed up with sprint and got the Rumor. and it gives me a phone for what a phone is needed for. I text a whole lot so its perfect. I can send out mulitple messages in far less time than on a regular texting keypad. Anyways if your sick of your expensive phone not bringing keeping up with its looks... then switch. its worth it.. did I mention the easy access music player!!!
I'm not in the mood to call Sprints customer service (takes half an hour to talk to an actual person) I was wondering, do you need the web to access the instant messengers like yahoo and aim? If you don't need the web, is there an access fee? If you do need the web, how much is it and is there still an access fee...thanks!
I think it sucked because I would be looking on internet and it would not show the images on the site the only site that was good for it was facebook because its already installed, then also because i would be texting next thing you know it restarts itself, thats stupid. One more bad thing is when you load aim it only shows 30 people off your buddy list when i have 120 that should be showing. But besides that its o.k but i switched just yesterday from Rumor to Centro that is the best one i think.. Justin
this phone is probly the best phone i have ever had! it has not died on me once considering i text a whole lot and use the instant msgr. speaking of texting, i absolutly love the keyboard! it comes in handy! i dont have to keep presing buttons and screwing up my t9 word stuff or anything. all i have to do is type like im doing right now on this keyboard. it makes texting a whole lot easier! it does take a little while, maybe a day or 2, to get used to the keyboard. but youll eventually get it. i got used to it on the 1st day! you have to hold it like you would a psp in order to use the keyboard, that also makes the screen wider, but shorter. that comes in great use for pictures or video. the internet is the fastest ive ever had on a phone. it has always been able to stay on the internet and hasnt failed once on me yet. it always connects. with my old phone, the lg lx 570, the internet would hardly ever half work for me and if it didnt connect at all, id have to turn my phone off and then turn it back on again which was a hastle. i have not had any problems with it yet. it is a very impressive phone. but i do think the camera could have been 2 megapixels instead of 1.3. but whatever, its still a great phone. whoever gets this phone is going to love it just as i have if their a heavy texter like me =D have a great day everyone!!! =D
This Phone does exactly what it was designed to do and does it very very well. For 50 bucks how can you go wrong. the texting feature is simply put: out of this world. the only problem i have with this phone is that when it comes time for a new one i'll need to find another QWERTY keyboard Phone.
The time it takes from the off position to being able to make a phone call is approximately 18 seconds, pretty fast. it gets a signal everywehere i can make and receive TXT's and phone calls even with 1 bar and the sound is still very very good.
If u want EVDO go somewhere else if u want a phone that makes phone calls and SMS. u can do no better then this phone at this time.
Besides its kind of like the girl in gigh school who is "plain jane", take off her glasses and put on some heels and a mini skirt and she breaks free. this phone looks ho hum but then break out the key board and it blows peoples minds.
I get Compliments at work all the time about how cool it is. and when its in phone mode it attracts no attention at all.
If your even THINKING of buying this phone: DO SO
When I first heard of this phone I didn't think that it would be all that great I was completly WRONG! I was amazed at the performance that the phone gave me. With its wonderful texting capabilities(thanks to the qwerty pad) and neat style, I fell in love! All I have to say against this phone is that the camera COULD be better...but nothing is perfect, right?
i got this phone 4 days ago this phone is by far the best thing that sprint has ever put out the txting is amazing and the battery life is awsome too the camera is a little lacking but it a phone not a digital camera.
I am really disappointed with the LG rumor, it doesnt fit my life style-which best buy didnt tell me when purchasing the phone, firstly the camera SUCKS I have taken better pictures with a 5 yr old nokia! 2ndly the internet is SLOW This phone was disappointing for my lifestyle, HOWEVER if you're looking for a phone just to text and make calls on, it's a cute phone!
i got mine a couple of days ago and its pretty much great! it fits all my needs. i think its really good that Sprint finally came out with a phone that has a qwerty keypad and isnt a smart phone. many people bought palms and pocket pc's just for the fact that it had a full keypad for better texting. the only thing i dont really like is the camera..but it works for what i need it for and that it doesnt have the sprint music store. other than that..the phone is amazing.
i got this phone a couple weeks ago and its the ...... best fun sprint has come out with... n best fone ive ever had...great keyboard n camera.. awesome features!!!
Neat phone, looks highspeed. feels nice. camera isnt the greatest.. but it will do. all the phone features are great. but the extra features.... media player ect.. are lacking support. the phone didnt come with a USB cable, and Sprint doesnt carry them yet, (so im told by the sales rep). It will play most music... but some it wont even see, must be a format problem or something. I still havent got it to play a single video, (music video). Sprint needs to get on track here and offer some support. Not able to use all the Extras my phone plan has on it yet.. any ideas, or tips on how to get things straightend out?
The camera is not the greatest and it does not have a flash.
The ringers are not as loud as I would like them so I am having to get loud obnoxious ringers to ensure I hear the phone.
Many applications are not compatible with this phone at this time so I am annoyed I cannot use applications I became dependent on with my old phone. I miss not having an up to the minute weather application.
The keyboard is awesome, and I really love it. The buttons are spaced far enough apart. The awesome keyboard makes up for the other features the phone lacks. The phone comes with a lock/unlock feature to prevent you from dialing accidentally if bumped...[BACK] key.
Just select loud ringtones and be patient for applications to be compatible with this phone. The phone rocks!
I traded in my UpStage for this phone, and I love it! I didnt like the UpStage very much though. The only thing I dont love about the Rumor is the camera. The quality is not very good for a 1.3m camera. Other than that, I love the qwerty pad, all the buttons are in the perfect place, easy to use, Very smart looking phone. LG keeps putting out great products, and this is definitley one of their very best!
this phone is awsome. i couldent put it any better. It looked unappealing online but when i took a look at the store i bought it right then and there. all the functions i cound ask for from the full keyboard to the turn by turn GPS in my opinion the best phone of all time for the money
