This is a good phone, I had it for more than 4 years. The 2 main problems were: LG took too much time to update it and gaming after 10 minutes it start to heat up so the phone throttles down.
Despite that I had no problem at all.
I got this phone used around 2 months ago. I'm using it on Lucky Mobile in Canada, but mine is unlocked. The new theme on Android 9 is pretty nice, and the 4K Camera is amazing. The glass back feels amazing compared to the aluminum & plastic backs on older phones. The fingerprint sensor gets dirty easily, you will need to clean it every couple months. Don't use always on display, it causes really really bad battery life. If you have weak internet, the internet may cut out if you cover the top right corner. It runs games quite well. The front camera is pretty bad though.
It was a great phone for a few months, by the year mark where warrenty doesn't cover my phone it started to thermal throttle, over heat and drain super quickly. I was really hoping I could get it fixed for a decent price but at $200
Look, I am not super easy on phones, but this phone is just awful. A simple fall from the couch and there goes the screen. Microphone is losing clarity. Charge port wiggly and corroded, all within 1 yr.
Camera is by far worse, than I had in Nexus 5X. Both from picture quality in low light conditions and focusing speed. Fingerprint scanner is slow and not easy to find with a touch. But the worst thing is that the mic stops working during the call, so that the other side cant hear you. I noticed the exact pattern: during the talk (regardless of the software used, phone, Viber, etc.) if the sound goes a bit louder on your side, i.e. you laugh or there was a noise on the street, the mic stops working. If you move the phone a bit away from you and proximity sensor detects the change and switches on the display, mic starts to work again and you can be heard on the other side again. This problem happens on new phone, which is very frustrating. What kind of the phone is it, if it can't even normally make a call?!
Phone went to service and the problem was not fixed so far.
Good phone but could have better battery. When you make speakerphone calls the other person does not hear me very good if I'm longer than 2-3 feet away from the phone, I have to shout! Other than that it is good!
At least now in early 2018 LG G6 has very good qualities for a very competitive price. Also, it has only few drawbacks and it should perform well at least for next couple of years. So I can really recommend it if taking regular selfies is not your thing and if you are looking for an overall good phone for a decent price.
I am writing this review after using this product for about 10months. So here it is. This product (black variant) was a birthday gift from my father on 10th May 2017 ( I recommended after a lot of research, of course). It was worth 50k back then with an outdated processor (Snapdragon 821) whereas S8 offered Snapdragon 835. I still thought of putting my faith in it (No clue what got into me). Due to my extremely busy schedule, I set the phone on 12th May. It took about 5HRS for its first charge. I tried managing on and off until July ( because i did not wanted to switch to another phone as setting a phone takes a lot of time; At least for me).
I got frustrated eventually since it lagged way too much, battery issue on charge time and drainage, visited the service center in July and they tried convincing me it was fine. After about 4 visits I managed to convince them to issue me a DOA certificate (dead on arrival). Got a new handset and damn, happy now.
The new product seemed to run fine, until around October is started off to lag. Lag real bad. I am a heavy user with using a tech for my work as well.
While I was off on a trip to Dubai, the sim tray broke while I was trying to switch to a local sim. It still seemed to work fine until about a week back, 21/02/2018, when the battery drained overnight. I charged my phone next morning and switched it on, it seemed to not read one of my sim cards (airtel; vodafone seemed to work fine). I tried changing the slot and still the same. I reached out to an airtel outlet and the sim worked all fine in another handset.
I reached the LG service center again, the guy suggests flashing the software (thereby losing all of my data for the 3rd time for the same pathetic product). Can't explain how annoyed (and equally helpless) I feel.
PROS:
I would surely take time to appreciate what's good.
1. Camera- Outstanding. Can't beat the pictures clicked from it.
2. Display- Beautiful colors and real bright and immersive display. 18:9 screen ratio gives a great experience.
3. Battery- I wouldn't say good, but decent. Anywhere close to what other premium smartphones might offer. Unless, you are a one plus user.
4. Fast charge- It really charges the phone good and fast. (The experience from the replaced model).
5. Aesthetics- The phones looks premium and beautiful. Easy and comfortable to hold and operate.
CONS:
1. Sim tray- Extremely fragile. Handle with utmost care.
2. Battery- At a price of 50k, offer better battery performance please.
3. Processor- Stop being outdated. When others offered SD835, you offer SD821, and let me tell you, it wasn't worth the trust I put in the product.
4. OS- It has been about a year almost, the Oreo update hasn't been rolled out. Now, when I pay 50k, I expect quality and service. I cannot wait for Android 8 when the world it prepared for the launch of Android 9.
5. Customer Service- Real bad customer service. Extremely poor knowledge of the product. No audacity or manners to behave with the
Absolutely a real eyecatcher. The robot back design and in-hand feeling is absolutely great. The screen is not an oled display but still fantastic. The phone is very fluid, the interface is nice well organised. Camera is excellent for outside shots, it has it's difficulties with low light shots, but in overall great for a person who knows to use the manual mod. The front camera is bad in almost every situation except when you are in an enviorment with good light conditions. The speaker is good, but not a great position for landscape using because you can easily cover it with your hand.
Using it for 2 week now and i am impressed. Display and camera amazing! Coming from a Nexus 6P, i can't belive that the display has the same size (5,7 inch) but the phone feels so much smaller in my hand.
This phone is so good watched many reviews
It is definitely a phone LG worked hard on and made progress.
Can't wait for the G7 to come out, LG's flagship phones are only going to get better and better.
I had this phone for more than a month.it's an amazing machine, well built.rugged construction and even military. spec for chock ,dust and water resistant(ips68).very fast while using many app at the same time.displays and color are just crazy!! I would recommend this phone over any Samsung s8 and pixel.look sharp and definitely stronger.
Coming from HTC, Lg offers good audio quality. The phone is perfect all arounder, the only thing that i dislike is selfie camera in low light setting. One of the top 3 phones in 2017. And probably number one if you take account the pricing for a new handset at this moment
Excellent Phone, having come from LG G5, G4, G3, and G2!
Major improvement over G5.
Waterproofing is a great feature.
Only downside is the front facing camera is a little weak.
Othet than that, can't fault it
This is the first LG device I have enjoyed since the Nexus 5 from years ago. Now we finally have an LG that exudes the build quality that comes with it's flagship status.
Feels really great in the hand and actually feel like the premium device that it is. So far I don't have any real complaints.
First of all, I was given this phone as a promotion from LG. I have owned LG's, Galaxy's, & Iphones. The first thing I noticed was how great it felt in my hand for a 5.7" phone. the LG G6 felt solid, quality build & fit in my hand comfortably. The operating system runs very smoothly without lag, especially when playing game or videos.
The camera is phenomenal. The quality & camera options were a joy. The selfies both regular & wide angle make it easy to use.
The battery use is good to great. I get thru a full day with plenty battery to spare. I'm sure that depends on the user. The sound is soft on some ring tones.
I am now a big fan of this phone! In Love! #LGG^#HandsonLGG6
Had for just on a month and I can't fault the phone. Feels far more solid than the S8. Everything it does well and I have even resorted to inbuilt email and text messaging and am running the stock launcher. This will be the first phone I keep for a year in such a long time. Best phone on the market.
That's a great phone of LG, G5 is a fast, good phone but it's not as gorgeous as G6.
LG G6 is an incremential upgrade of G5, except for the look, the look is the real upgrade from G5
I only wish the battery is bigger.
I have a bias towards HTC phones, I have had several of them starting with the HTC Hero and just recently HTC 10. I have owned a few LG's in that time also but none really impressed me but the G6 is very impressive and I would highly recommend for an overall awesome smartphone experience.
I only have had a few issues with the phone and one of the more annoying is that the keyboard is "laggy" but the UX is very nice with some customization with the themes wish they had more available
The Camera is good not the greatest straight out the box but with some tinkering with settings and other camera apps it will impress.
this is a initial review, or preview! but daamn daniel! this thing is hot! everyone refer to g2 but when you look at the screen its 2017 galaxy note 3 with rounded display. that was my favorite smartphone design of all time! simple and sexy at the same time. just forget about that horrible g5 memories! this is the true lg flagship after g4! this should be standard for every phone not apple! thank you lg! dont ever go back there! we know you with amazing g2 and g6. this is the right path!
anyway! i had this gorgeous piece of tech for about 2 day and i cant stop talking abot the design. of course its not perfect and its one year late but i love it! i will talk about everything below but overall this is one of the best phones of 2017 no matter what. but its not samsung. its not [almost] perfection. and it ok! not everyone want perfection. this thing is blast. anyone can love and enjoy it. it does't have a major flaw. but its always a shame why lg never claim the crown! why always something is missing. they know oled is the way to go. they know battery life is important. they know but all this stuff. i hope to see perfect g7 with great battery life and oled display. i want that phone. i dont care how many year i have to wait for it. you dont have to! its great, beautiful, lovely but if lg wants to go bigger and hijack samsung and apple fans they not there yet. sometimes basics is more important than "wow" factor! dear lg! i'll be waiting for you i know you can give me galaxy battery life! we all want that! i know you can do [even] better. i want that v30/g7 with 4000 mah battery and oled display.
