The sweetest phone I've seen.

Phone owned for

The music features are some of the best I've seen in a phone. It has a lot of memory for a cell phone too. But the micro SD slot helps. The only thing I don't like is how the keys automatically lock when you close the slide. But other than that, it's the best. Some say that the touch panels get annoying, but it just takes a few days to get used to not having buttons. Overall 9/10.

Terrible Functions, Nice Design

Phone owned for

LG has a good design on this phone without a doubt. The only real positives I can say about this phone are:

1. Slide Feature
2. Size
3. Option of colors

Other than that, everything else sucks about this phone. The touch buttons work part of the time, even then sometimes there's a delay. Sorry, but it can't beat the Ipod in it's touch feature.
I hate the fact that when browsing the net, the phone freezes. It doesn't even turn off. The only way to get it working again is to physically remove the battery.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention the fact that when you use the included adapter to hook up to portable speakers, the phone magically starts dialing the last number in the phone's recent calls history. Talk about possessed! Only way to resolve that situation is to clear your call history before hooking up to external speakers. Even then it tries to dial the last recent call, but since you clear the memory it can't call anyone.
Worst phone I've ever seen period. I'd rather take the old brick Nokia 5100/6100 series phone over this one. Pretty sad to say such a thing.

Mmmmm...Chocolate

Phone owned for

I love this phone. With the music kit it is so easy to get my cd's on the phone and they sound great. I dont care what people say sensitve setting on low is very easy to get along with. yes the first chocolate did not come with speaker phone and had to have a software upgrade inside the store but that did not stop me from pouring hersheys chocolate syrup all over it and licking it off. yes my chocolate phone has its own pillow to sleep on at night.

Terrible

Phone owned for

I purchased the Chocolate for my husband as a wedding gift in January. The phone had not one problem for 2 months. While we were on the phone, it died. It would not respond to the charger. I was wanting to buy the pink one they just released, but I think not. There were 10 people in line when I took it to my Verizon store with the Chocolate getting them exchanged all for the same issue. I thought the RAZR was terrible with all the issues it had. They don't make phones like they used to....

DON'T BUY

Phone owned for

This phone is the worst phone Verizon has ever put out on the market. The catch is you must have it for at least a month or two before you began to see most of its flaws and malfunctions - and of course that is far past your 15 day return policy limits. Please, please, please before you buy this phone - do your research. Go to other sites and read the reviews on this phone. There is also now talk of pushing for a recall.

Not as bad as they say...

Phone owned for

I purchased my LG Chocolate about 5 days ago, and so far, I love everything about it except for the battery (and the price...). It's an amazing phone. The touch buttons take a couple days to get used to , as to be expected, but they're very good. The slide function works very well. The camera takes good pictures, and has great white balance settings, but actually snapping the shot can be difficult unless you use two hands (it likes to turn out blurry if you don't).
For only having one speaker, it's very good. Music plays great on it! However, things like news sounds very tinny... i'm not sure why. Mobile IM, VCast Music, and Get It Now (with E-Mail) all work amazingly well. However, VCast Video still has a LOT of kinks to work out... and that isn't the fault of the Chocolate by any means.

I will say that the Chocolate does have a lot of minor things here and there, but all things considered, it's a great phone. The two worst aspects being the price and the battery. To fully utlitilze the phone, many accessories are necessary. So far i've spent $180 on the phone (contract renewal price), $30 on a car charger, $20 on a case, and $50 on an extended battery, with still a memory card ($70, 2GB), and a Music kit ($30) to come. The only major flaw i've noticed with the phone itself is the batter. It absolutely must be charged every night. And if you use a lot of the higher features (VCast, Get It Now, Camera) it will drain the battery much quicker. But playing music doesn't seem to take much of a tole on it.

Additionally, it's the coolest freaking phone on the market right now.

Would I reccomend buying it? ABSOLUTLEY! Plus, it's verizon, so you'll like never drop a call. But indeed, major props to the Chocolate!

What the heck?!

Phone owned for

I think this phone is horrible!! I work for Verizon and we have problem after problem with these phones. The buttons are too touch sensitive causing people to make their phones perform unwanted actions and there is no speakerphone. This phone gets a 2.5 rating in my eyes. I would never buy one, I wouldn't even take one for free!! Thanks but no thanks, I think I will stick with my Palm Treo 700P!!!!

Hot phone but no stamina

Phone owned for

The styling on the LG VX8500 is less attractive then its GSM counterpart however it is still very exceptional compared to other handsets available through my carrier, Telus Mobility.
Unfortunetly the sheduler function is horrible, camera is slow, touch screen is very counter-intuitive and worse of all the Battery life is horrible.
I bought this phone recently but haven't been able to get more then 3 hours of media time out of it.
Maybe i'm biased because i use to have a treo 650 before this, but hey for the price i was expecting more.

LG Chocolate - Can't Synchronize

Phone owned for

I see I'm not the only person having trouble with my PC recognizing this device. If anyone has any informaton on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Verizon doesn't seem to have any idea how to help me. I've un-installed/re-installed everything. I've even exchanged my music essentials kit.

Chocolate is Good

Phone owned for

I read about as many reviews before I bought it as well as afterwards and I have to say I'm with the proud owners not the others. This phone brings all the quality LG and Verizon are known for and then some. Sure, if you thnkin you've bought a nano and not a phone or a digicam and not a phone - you will be dissapointed and very unhappy. But if you like good , well-thought out features not generally part of a cell phone as well as good sound, texting features, calls lists, quicktext, pix and flix functions, playlists, gr8 looks (wipe off the prints from time-to-time), lightweight, touch sensitive keys, animated screens, lots of basic memory with massive expandability, a good voice command ability, well organized contact lists, and decent calendar and alert set-up - this is the phone for you. As for the battery: if you talk a lot, listen to songs a lot and / or text and pix a good deal of the time - duh! Your battery will not last five days for sure.

LG

Phone owned for

what people tend to forget is that cingular carries other phones besides the razr. how about the samsung D807 or the LG CU500 or even the discontinued but still very versitile phone the Sony Ericsson W600I all these phones hold mp3 and all were out before the chocolate. and how odd it is that the chocolate looks almost identical the samsung D807.....hmmmm....but i will say its about time that Lg stepped up now they are producing some quality phones like the chocolate that have many features and attract and audience.

The phone does sync with the PC to download music from Windows Media player. Talked to tech support. First they replaced the phone. It still is not recognized by the PC. Now Verizon says that it is a flaw with every vx8500 which LG will ultimately fix. Need opinions and advise.
