Best Phone I've Owned!!!!!!

Phone owned for

I bought this phone on the week of November 5th, 2009, which was the week it came out. It replaced a phone that wasn't working correctly. I love this phone!!!!!! The speakers sound great, and Dolby Mobile is a great added feature. I love the Join the Band and Graphical features, and the fact that I am able to multitask while playing music. I love the feel to the battery  cover, as it helps me grip it, especially since I have big hands and I have found that phones can slip out of my hands easily. I love the virtual QWERTY keypad, as I have big hands and find it easy to type on,  hardly ever making mistakes while typing a text message. The camera is great, but I wish it had autofocus and flash. I also like that is has Social Networking features, allowing me to keep tabs on my Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. The phone stays locked until you unlock it, so you don't make accidental calls. The touchscreen is also very responsive, and has haptic feedback. In general, I love this phone!!!!!!

Hallelujah! Email alert CAN be turned off

Phone owned for

This phone is average.  It looks nice and is slim (which I like) but the functionality and options are difficult to figure out and the touch screen isn't that great.  Too often while I'm trying to scroll up or down, I end up selecting whatever feature my finger is touching because the screen is either too senstive or not sensitive enough.I only got this phone because it was an inexpensive replacement tfor my Motorola RAZR2 (which I loved) and it will tide me over until Verizon rolls out the iPhone (I hope!!!!).Oh, and for those of you who are trying to figure out how to turn off that darn e-mail alert beep, as I mentioned above, it's tough to figure out but I was able to do it for my AOL account.  Once you open up your mailbox (for me, I use AOL),  go to "Options", then "Preferences", and then you can choose not to be alerted for new messages and the incessant beeping will go away.Good luck!!!

Email alert can't be turned off

Phone owned for

If anyone knows how to turn off the email alert, please email me.  It is so annoying. It sounds like a smoke detector with a dying battery.  The browser needs a software update BAD!  Other than that, it seems enjoyable to use. Many good features. But, I down graded from a blackberry pearl and really miss it.  LG, please fix these problems.

I Really love this phone!!!

Phone owned for

I have had this phone for less than a week and all I can say is that I love it! The chocolate touch has a full qwerty keyboard that is easy to type on. The music quality is great. I just got rid of my lg env2 and it sucked after a while. I highly reccomend the chocolate toyvh if you are into music, texting, and calling! This phone is great!!! You can use a nintendo ds pen for touchscreen!

World's Best Phone!!!!!!

Phone owned for

I bought this phone when it first came out. It replaced a Samsung Glyde (SCH-u940). It is by far THe BEST PHONE I have ever had! The touch screen is very responsive, the voice command system actually understands me, the music player sounds great, the virtual QWERTY keyboard is very easy to type on, and it even has handwriting recognition! The screen also does not blank out in direct sunlight, and when you lock it, it stays locked until you unlock it, which is another plus. It's also lightweight, and is barely noticeable in your pocket. It also has excellent voice quality, like most Verizon Wireless phones. The only downside I can think of for this phone would be that its internet browser it slow (HTML), but I use my two computers and my Apple iPod Touch for that, so it's no big deal to me. This is a great phone, and for a great price, too!

I was a bit skeptical about buying this phone, as I was coming from an EnV2 (which I hate after almost two years) and am a very heavy texter. After reading and watching many reviews for this phone, my upgrade day had come. I was very sure that I wanted this phone by then. After having it for a week from today, I can honestly say that I LOVE it! Personalizing the home screen and shortcuts menu is easy to do and looks great! I love that you can plug the data cable into your computer and transfer a variety of things (which I could never do with my EnV2). Videos and pictures are great for a phone, even if it doesn't have flash (but that doesn't really matter to me). It didn't take too long for me to get used to the keyboard, and now I can text with ease. Scrolling while in the music tab is fantastic; just like an iPod! The quality on this thing is great, and the main home screen keys are vibrant. I absolutely love the shapes of the keys! That was one of the things that peaked my interest, as well as the backplate of the phone. Call quality is great, and I love that when you put it up to your ear, the screen shuts off to save battery life. The brightness sensor is great, too. When I first saw the phone, I took off the little stickers and didn't even notice the one on the screen! Especially since I have a silicone case that covers the tab on the top of it. It's great that you can flip through different menus with a swipe to the left or right. One thing I would like is to have a black keyboard, which is only available on while using the Shooting Star theme (too purply for me), though the Hi-Fi theme is great, anyway. I enjoy the Join the Band feature, even if it's not a necessity. The Dolby-Digital Equalizer makes the music sound SO much clearer (depending on what settings you have on). I prefer to use the Manual equalizer. For a non-smartphone (I hate calling them dumbphones because they're not ALL dumb), this phone is packed full of features. I recommend this to anyone and everyone!

Engineer & Secret Santa

Phone owned for

I got three of these, one for me and each of my kids.  I had been using a Motorola SmartPhone (Windows Mobile) on ATT, and so was quite trepidatious to move to something that might be difficult to sync.  But I switched and cleaned up my address book and downloaded the LG sync tools (which, BTW, are pretty good and superior to aftermarket/DataPilot tools by Susteen IMO).

I like the sound - my ancient Moto did not support stereo Bluetooth (hard to believe).  But I've got 600+ contacts and without some type of grouping feature its a royal pain to find a number.  I used MS-Outlook  "Categories" for this, but neither the LG syncware nor DataPilot presently support importing "Group" or "Ringtone" (or Picture or IM address for that matter).  Which leaves me stuck having to edit several hundred entries by hand and having to be cautious with or forgo altogether the sync tools (lest they clobber my handiwork).  This seems like a silly limitation - I'd really like to see LG import the MS-Outlook "Categories" for use as its "Group".  For that matter, it should also map the MS-Outlook "User Field 1 thru 4" into "Ringtone", "Picture", etc.

Nice camera, and reasonable shorcut/apps that can be placed on desktop and dragged around where convenient.  I use "Calculator", "New Video", "Calendar", and "My Pictures" a lot, so it's really convenient to have them handy.

One other thing - in trying to find a car-mount, I find the universal variety (so far) seem to squeeze right where some buttons reside and thus activate phone features inadvertently.  I haven't found a solution yet, but am contemplating a glue-attached bracket (e.g. quick-release camera variety) on the spare phone-back.  In this way I can swap phone-backs (not too onerous) and drive without worry.  Would be nice, though, to have something that cradled the thing properly.

Overheating

Phone owned for

This phone has been decent overall. It has wonderful music properties! Though I kinda wish I had spent the little extra and bought the enV touch for the easier texting. The main thing I wanted to write about though is that is has been overheating on me. While holding the phone to my ear and talking for about 10 - 15 minutes it gets really hot. I could maybe understand if it was recharging at the time but it wasn't. It got so hot the other night that I decided to take it's temperature. I got reading of 110 degrees on the outer case. I also noticed when it gets hot the the call reception gets bad. Looking at the phone I realized that I had no bars of service when I had 4 bars when I started the call and hadn't moved. This has been a good phone but I just wanted to let people know of this issue. Verizon is sending out a new phone so hopefully it is just a fluke on just this one.

The LG Chocolate Touch is JUST PLAIN AWESOME!

Phone owned for

The LG Chocolate Touch is the type of phone that will have you learning something new about it every time you use it! I have had many phones in the past that have not been as great and responsive as this one, including:The V (VX9800)enV (Green / VX9900)Voyager (Black / VX10000)Dare (VX9700)Versa (VX9600)enV2 (VX9100)enV3 (VX9200)enV Touch (VX11000)...Now I have moved on to this phone, the Chocolate Touch VX8575. This phone offers great music, messaging, and media features! The messaging is that of a standard LG phone except for the Social Networking Tab, which is a good addition for easy access to things like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. The music feature is just astounding on this phone with Dolby Mobile sound, you don't get clarity on other phones like you get here. You also have options where you can set it to the right balance within the presets or you can balance it yourself using the EQ controls and you can also join the band by playing the drums or the piano. Kind of a useless feature, but cool. You also have the FM Radio, which is a good addition to this phone; you just plug in your headphone, which act as the reciever for the signal, and you can play the Radio through either the back speaker or the headphones. Finally, the media on this phone is pretty nice as well, including a 3.2 megapixel camera. The downside to this is the lack of flash capabilities but if you mainly use it outdoors, or where there is medium lighting or higher, you should have no problems. I'm sorry I have nothing on the web capabilities of this phone but I can probably safely assume that since the top bars say 3G/1X the interet is probably faster than that of other Verizon non-Smartphones. One last thing, the disign of this phone is nonetheless very INTERESTING. It is very expressive with a choice of a Black or Purple back battery door that both come with the phone. There is also a metallic surface that is continued around the entire phone. Nice!...I don't have problems with this phone freezing or anything of the sort, and I would recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for great pictures in well-lit areas, a decent messaging experience, and many many other great qualities!...I'm not going to compare this phone to the iPhone because it is not an iPhone and never will be. It is a powerhouse though when it comes down to the nitty-gritty. This phone has all of the everyday features you need including tools like your calendar, calculator, ez tip calculator, notepa, drawing pad, and much more. All of the standard things are available as well like VZNavigator and Mobile Email / Mobile Web. You just CANNOT GO WRONG with this phone!...The LG Chocolate Touch currently sells for $79.99 officially from Verizon Wireless! You can pick yours up at VerizonWireless.com today. Thanks so much for reading my review, and I sure do hope this helped everyone out! (:

Santa brought 2 of these for my teen daughters.  Wonderful phones!  The best parts of the iphone on Verizon - and NO dataplan required.  Don't hesitate.  This is a real winning combo - hardware and OS features make for a very robust experience.  Still amazed at what can be done on these phones at such a reasonable price.  They haven't let them out of there sight since they got up this morning.  The sheer excitement of all the media features, awesome touch interface, and PIM (calendar, contacts, notes, even a drawing program thrown in!) has kept them tapping away.  That is without the "join the band" and FM radio sure to wow their friends.

Great Overall Phone

Phone owned for

The LG Chocolate Touch is a great new phone. I got mine yesterday and so far i love it. The touch screen is probably the most responsive I've seen on the Verizon network; I used to have the LG Voyager Titanium. The resolution looks nice, and colors are very vibrant and full. The camera is very nice, 3.2 Megapixels is very nice. In the dark, some appear grainy, but overall there's more good than bad. Videos come out very nice as well. The call quality is very nice, I can hear very clearly and people can hear me clearly as well. I get service everywhere I've gone so far, which is always a good thing. The music player is very nice, the phone plays very loudly through the speakers and sounds very good through headphones, and there are other features like a rhythmic vibrate that goes with the beat of the song and EQ/Equalizers. There is also a FM Radio that is very nice and comes in very well, you can even preset your own stations. The main things that i bought this phone for was messaging, as well as the music player. The messaging is very good, and the full QWERTY keyboard is very good, similar to an iPod Touch/iPhone. You can also use T9 Word if you like, without flipping the phone sideways. Messages go by contact so they are organized by the people that send you each message. I do not use the internet, but i have heard that it isn't the best, but hey, you get what you get for a non-smart phone. This is a full feature phone that doesn't require a data plan, unlike the LG  Env Touch and Samsung Rogue. Buy this phone while you can, before they make you buy a data plan! I'm guessing all new full featured phones will require one! You will love the LG Chocolate Touch, and I'm usually very critical when it comes to phones!

Great Phone So Far

Phone owned for

I' ve had about a week so far and this is a great little phone.  The music player and radio were the main reasons I wanted since I was upgrading from a Chocolate 2.      One person mentioned no data package required which is correct.  Not a phone problem but Verizon now charges app usage to data minutes not airtime which meant even though I have "free" apps I had to get a data package to use the "free" apps or pay a crapload in data minutes.

Perfection

I've had my phone for over a week and for the money the quality is excellent. Great sound, I have a 4mg SD. Can convert most of  my itunes music to mp3 and download with UsB provided. Love the FM Radio. Did not even know it was on the phone. Touch Screen responds quickly and easy to dial without hitting wrong key. Have ordered a purple case to matchthe purple back with a front panel.Glad I waited until Nov to look for a phone.

I Love This Phone!!!!!!

Phone owned for

I had the LG Chocolate II (VX-8550) in Blue Mint when it first came out, and I wasn't really impressed with it at all. Then I got a touch screen phone and wasn't really impressed with it, exchanging it for 4 other of the same phone. For my upgrade, I chose the LG Chocolate Touch (VX-8575). It comes with 2 battery covers (I have the black one on right now), and the same physical sized screen as the LG enV Touch (VX-11000) with a little bit lower res. screen, but it doesn't bother me much. It also has a 3.2MP camera that takes great pictures and videos, as well as 1GB onboard dedicated space for music storage, as well as a slot for up to 8GB memory of a micro SD card (I have my 2GB SD card in there). It also has the same design as the LG Dare (VX-9700), which I love, and an excellent battery life plus Dolby Mobile and an FM radio with 3mm headset jack. It will also work the voice command/control system when it is plugged in. It also has the improved music player that allows you to play along with your tunes via either a bongo drumset or keyboard (piano). All in all, this is a GREAT phone, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great music phone with a touchscreen, or a current or previous LG Chocolate (any series) owner who wants to try it again. This is the best decision I've ever made on a cell phone.

Incredible! Best phone I have ever had.

Phone owned for

I had the EnV Touch for the last month. I returned it because it was just too bulky for me. Exchanging it for the Chocolate touch was the best phone decision I have ever made. This phone is small and powerful. The QWERTY keypad has spaces between the buttons that help reduce miss types. It is very accurate. Though the screen is not as high a resolution, it is surprisingly sharp and very vibrant. The music player is excellent. I used to get frustrated with my album art not showing up, but with this phone, if you put the album art in the photos folder on your SD card, when playing a song that doesn't have album art show up, you can manually put it as the album art. Also, the FM radio is another amazing feature. It comes through crystal clear. Drawing pad, note pad, better touch screen, incredible battery, very compact, no required data package; the list of positives of this phone go on and on. I have extensively used the EnV Touch, Versa, and DARE and I believe the Chocolate Touch is simply the best non PDA phone available for Verizon.

Well done

Phone owned for

I have been looking for a good phone to try that has touch capability for quite sometime, and found this one while looking on the internet.
The phone is very responsive and will take a day or two to get the hang of how it works. The touch-screen is very good and responds well after calibration and user familiarity. It's my first LG and touch-screen and its an amazing phone, better than the dare in my opinion.
The battery life is good if you adjust the settings for lower power settings and don't have it lighting up big room. Call quality is very good and no problems with it. Sound quality for music is very good and rich in bass and higher notes. By it if you are in the market for a phone like this!
