My Chocolate 3 started shutting off randomly like many others here have noted. I figured it was probably because the battery wasn't getting good contact either from dirty contacts, or just being loose. So, I cleaned the contacts, and that seemed to work for a while, then it would start shutting down again. So I folded up a little piece of paper so that it was about 1/2" x 1/2" square, and maybe an 1/8" thick and put it on the battery approximately where the contacts are, and slid the back of the phone over the paper. The idea is to push the battery into the contacts harder than the cover alone can. Viola..... it never shut off again. I used that phone for a year after doing that, and never had another problem with it. My niece also has this phone, and was having the same problem with it shutting down randomly. I did the paper fix on it, and hers has been working flawlessly since then as well.
terrible phone. camera did not work after three days. battery life/bars are different every time i open or close it. recharge cable does not work properly and of course Verizon does not want to hear any of it ;) big companies = big money, why worry about the consumer. will never recommend this phone.
I've had the chocolate 3 for about 6 months now, for a replacement phone. First off, the battery is pretty decent. I dont have to charge my phone for about a day and a half. But, even if the battery is good .. the phone isnt. The chocolate three is great at first, nice front screen, cool graphics, bluetooth, all that good stuff .. but there are many "suckish" things about this phone. The phone constantly turns off, the battery bar will tell you you have one bar left, when you really still have four. The front screen scroll circle broke within the first week i had it, and i hadnt ever dropped my phone. The text messages in "sent" come up as page and say somethings wrong with your phone, when there really isnt, When setting a picture as your backround, it doesnt take the right square that you want as your backround. This phone overall has far to many problems. I do not suggest getting this phone. Thank god my upgrades tomorrow.
it got the sticker and the battery wet from sitting in my bathroom while i was in the shower and now my entire phone (screens) are either red, a blinking white screen, or the snow like from a bad tv reception. My battery lasts one day if i'm lucky, it is extremely slow, and overall, it is a terrible phone and should never be sold...
this phone look very nice and fancy and everything else is okay too but when i come to reception its really bad people would be calling me five to 10 times a day and i wouldn't hear a thing. especial around walls of my home or in a corner. if you let this phone sit for few hours it acts like it doesn't even exist. if some one calls you don't get anything on this thing...there is an old saying the fancier the dosing the wors the signal straight
First of all i cant get service in my own house!!!! Thats retarded because every one else in my house has verizon and gets service. Second of all when did it become ok for calls to drop . Third, one day the circle button on the front just randomly fell off. WHAT THE HECK!!! Fourth, it snapped in half.....and i haven't done anything to it. My screen is now disconnected from the keypad. And now i cant text because my phone broke. The weird part: the kepad still works ( the battery is still is shape) Fifth, It shuts off by itself when im talking to my friends. And it doesnt charge. one minute ill look at it and it will say four bars....i turn around for two seconds look back and the battery is low.
I HATE THIS PHONE and i am patiently waiting for my time of upgrade.....November Ninth
I don't know what half of you are talking about this phone is great! I have had my phone for almost 7 months and it hasnt freezed on me. Sure the front screen is a little scratched but thats because I'm a clumsy person and i drop it, so people if you don't drop it you won't have any problems with scratches! The keypad is excellent! it's very sleek and you can move you fingers across it for faster texting, sure there might be a little finger print problem but it doesnt bother me too much.I love this phone and I think you should be patient if theres one little glitch and not go running to Verizon saying this phone sucks like a lot of other people have.
I have had this phone for not even 6 months. It was good in the beginning but now it is to the point I have no reception in my house at all. My boyfriend and sister do, and we are all Verizon customers. When I close the phone it makes this annoying high pitch buzzing noise. It drops calls, incomming calls go straight to voicemail. the phone randomly shuts off sometimes in the middle of a text or call! the reception is horrible I have to go outside to send a message or to talk on the phone, thats even getting worse. The newest thing is my battery it will be fully charged, I'll send a message and it will say low battery. then I'll look again and it will be fully charged. I can have my phone on silence all, and it will still ring, and it won't viberate, or it will have one very looooong vibration. my mom was having similar problems with the same phone. (we got them on the same day) they replaced hers and not mine....needless to stay it still has issues. this phone is not a good investment, they are on sale again and i would not reccomend it at all!!!
I have had this phone oever one year. I have had to swap it out 4 times for the same problem. I like the phone in general, the color, the size, and the userbility. However, when I first got the hone the calculator worked fine. Now it doesn't work at all. The phone shuts off whenever it feels like it. It becomes very annoying after a while. I'm going to move up to a blackberry. Good luck everyone, I hope all you owners of the chocolate 3 don't have the problems I have had.
Alright so i used to have the Chocolate 2 but it started acting retarded so i called Verizon and they sent me out a Chocolate 3 to replace it. I loved the phone at first, it is a great phone. It fits well in your hand and is a good all around phone... for a while. After about a month it started shutting down and turning back on randomly throughout the day. It would do it maybe once a day and slowly got worse to 10 maybe 15 times a day!! Now it is sitting on my bedside table... turned off... it won't turn on at all!!! It goes to the Verizon screen then freezes or it turns on, goes to my home screen, then shuts immediately upon me pushing a button. This phone is totally not worth its hype. I loved it but now it won't turn on. Now i have to call Verizon and get a different phone... Yay customer service =/
I got the LG Chocolate 3 for Christmas this year, and I can tell you I wouldn't be any happier with any other phone. Here are some of the things I enjoy about this phone.
It is a very slick phone. Fits into my pocket nicely, and looks really nice
It never fails: I have seen reviews that people say it always messes up while texting. I can say I have never had this problem. I have only seen it freeze up once and that's when I was taking pictures and I was receiving a picture message.
The Keypad: The key pad is a really good size. Almost impossible to hit the wrong key.
Dual Screen: There are two screens on the LG C3. The main screen you see when the phone is flipped open and the front screen that you see when the phone is closed. I like that you can view your text from the front screen instead of having to open you phone like a lot of phones. You can also view your photos, music, calender, and your camera from the front screen.
The Spinner: I didn't know exactly what to call it but if the Chocolate 2 had the same thing. It is located on the front of the phone and it spins around kinda like a Ipod and you use it to scroll through your front menu screen. It comes in handy for viewing your images on the front screen and viewing text.
MP3: The MP3 player on the LG C3 is great. Has great sound quality through the speaker and you can also hook up your ear phones to it. It has 1GB of space just for the music player and if you have a SD card you can store even more. You can listen to your mp3 player with the phone opened or closed.
FM Transmitter: The LG C3 comes with a built in FM transmitter. If you don't know what that is, a FM transmitter allows you to play your music on your MP3 player on your car stereo or any radio with FM. I thought it was pretty cool it came with that, and the quality ant to bad.
Camera: Has a nice 2.0 MP camera. Most phones are a 1.3MP. If you close the phone you can use the front screen to take self portraits.
The Front: I see in a lot of reviews of the LG C3 that the front screen scratches easy. Mine hasnt scratched yet but I am very careful with my phone. I guess if you are ruff with your phones the LG C3 wont be the best for you. The front screen is very shiny and very fancy looking.
Performance: The all and all performance of the phone is great. It is very fast, the call quality is great, the battery is really good.
Here is a few features that the LG C3 has:
MP3
Calculator
Tip Calculator
Calender
Blue tooth compatible
2.0 MP Camera
SD Slot up to 8GB
Alarm Clock
World Clock
You can use it as a USB drive
It comes with a cord to hook up to your computer.
The front screen locks automatically so you don't press buttons by accident.
That's about all I have to say about the LG Chocolate 3. I havnt really had any problems with it. I would recommend this phone to anybody. If you have any questions about this phone, feel free to email me.
Thanks,
Jeff

I've had this phone since October and so far it's been nothing but great. the sound quality is really good. I've taken it many places and have never had any issues with signal. My only grip is that the front display can scratch pretty easily...
I first bought the chocolater 3 in October of 2008 and as of today march 17,2009 im on my 4th (3blue and 1 black) LG chocolate 3 and about ready to go get another. I keep taking back for the reason of restarting while in the middle of a phone call or recieving a text message or just checking the time. In addition the phone would make a loud beep nosie when closing the flip after a phone call. When i went back the last time Verizon offered to give me a different model, but i told the guy the chocolate 3 was the only model i like thats out right now. Well today the phone decided to reset itselfs and not read the micro card so none of my pictures were coming up. So when i turned it off and back on it froze at the verizon screen and i let it sit about 2 hours and no change. So i took the battery out and it did the same thing again and after about and hour of leaving the battery out it finally came back up. I think now it is time to change my mind and break down and get a new model. I dont recommend the phone the only real good think going for it is the FM transmitter and i think thats why i cant get away from it.
I loved my phone for the most part, except the whole "scratches easily" should be taken with extreme caution. this morning, after NO drops but a few scratches from my keys and purse belongings, half of my screen went black (the front screen). Now i'm seeing green and red lines on the side, & the color is changing. it's getting worse by the minute. I'm going to verizon and DEMANDING a new phone- they PROMISED this phone was excellent- little did I know. The flip part is actually starting to feel a little loose, and the turnwheel on the front scratches SO easily and doesn't respond half of the time. When I transfer songs, sometimes it will only transfer HALF! I love the fact that it's a music player, but this is OUTRAGEOUS. The phone SIMPLY will not last. Wait for a later version, folks.
this phone is absolutely ridiculous! it seems as if after every text message i get my phone turns off. the ringer is too loud and the quality of the camera sucks. ughh....but other than those MAJOR problems, the phone is okay. i do like how slim it is. but the bad always seems to out rule the good. =/
ok. So before I got my LG Chocolate 3, I had a very old and very crappy phone. It did nothing but call, text, and take pictures. The only good feature about it was the camera had a flash, unlike any of the other phones I've seen lately. As you can imagine I was really excited to get a new one. The Chocolate 3 in my opinion is great. It’s not the very best, but I like it. It’s got a nice look and an excellent screen based on bright and clearness. The music feature is great. The music button on the side is really handy too. I’ve almost completely ditched my old iPod for it. The speaker is great and I love that it takes 3.5mm headphones. I also love using the touch wheel in the front. It looks pretty sweet! The charging cord is real practical too. I like it because I can charge it from my computer and the adapter for it to the outlet is good for iPod cables too.It does have a few down sides though too. Texting is do-able but the keyboard is really slick and flat so it’s hard to navigate my fingers. Also the dictionary for the t9 sometimes doesn’t remember words and it’s a pain to re-type them. It’s also sometimes very slow. When I open it up it takes a split second to react, which isn’t the end of the world, however it sometimes bugs me. Another thing that is a little annoying is that the direction keys on the inside in a circle often leave a mark on the screen. It probably won’t irk you that much, but I just really want to preserve its condition. The volume is fantastic if I’m in a loud place, but when I’m not playing music and am in a quiet environment, the lowest setting for a ringtone is pretty loud. The last thing is that in the month that I’ve had this phone, it’s dropped a call by turning off once. It has a low battery life, but I'm taking music off and on so often that it's never died on me.That’s pretty much it though,.
I was trying to choose between this phone and the Decoy. I decided on the Decoy but it was out of stock, so i agreed to "test drive" the Chocolate 3 until the store gets the Decoy in stock. I have had this phone for a week and already the operating system is slow like a Motorola brand phone. When texting, I finish typing far before the phone displays the words I just typed. I have to wait literally 5 seconds for the front display light to come on after i close the phone. The ringer is EXTREMELY loud when it is on the lowest possible setting. The phone only has one feature going for it-- the multi-tasking music player. Other than that, its worthless and very poorly made; a major let-down by LG, they usually deliver better products! I hope the Decoy doesn't disappoint like the Chocolate 3 did.
okay so after i had 2 voyagers verizon told me that i could switch to any phone i liked. so i asked em what the best phone they had was besides the voyager and they told me the chocolate 3. so i was like okay and i loved it at first but the next day i dropped it off my bed and both the inside and outside screens broke! so i took it down to verizon and they gave me another and about a week later it started freezing up and restarting like every 30 minutes. i brought it back down and asked if they could give me a different model and they said that they had to give me another chocolate and if something happened to it then they would give me an enV2 or dare so they replaced it with another chocolate and later that week it did the same thing. i took it down there and the guy wouldnt do anything for me even though there was a notation on the account that said i was to get something else. the guy tried to give me another one but i refused because i didnt want to go through the same problems over and over again for another year...then a week later the keys on the inside started to fall off!!! my friend got the same phone in blue the same day as me and on hers the click wheel and faceplate fell off
okay, so after my env2 EXPLODED, i upgraded to the chocolate three. as of today, january 6, i have been through three. all with the same problem. the whole problem starts with the phone randomly shutting off occassionally and suddenly turns into a frequent occurance. the end result is a phone that shuts off and freezes on the verizon wireless screen. otherwise its a great phone, but im tired of swapping it.
My brother and I both got Chocolate 3 phones for christmas. At first my phone seemed great and I had no problems with it (for the first couple days). But now after a couple weeks my phone has many scratches -and I was very careful with it- and it freezes up a lot. Sometimes the phone will just automatically turn off, and also in my home it will sometimes it will have full service then freeze up and say there is no service available. This is a problem I have not had with previous phones (especially in my house where there is full verizon service). Another problem is that the battery lasts no longer then a day, even if it was charged the night before. At first this phone was able to go days without needing to be charged, and now I charge it every night and it barely makes it through the next day-- even if I don't use it! However, my brother has had no problems with his phone, and absolutely loves it. Tonight i am going to get a new one and hopefully these same problems don't occur.
So I have had my fair share of broken phones. I have had this phone for about 2 months now. I love it. It is my favorite phone I've owned so far (ive had plenty). It does scratch and get fingerprints on the front pretty easily. The vibrate is a lot weaker than my previous phones. Other than those neglegent flaws this phone has been a trooper. It is pretty durable (its been dropped multiple times) and has an awesome battery life compared to all of my old phones. I like the idea of the fm transmitter and use it as a music player when my ipod dies on me. I also like the fact I can access some of my menu options without having to flip open the phoe. I have not had any problems with dropped calls or poor sound quality. The speaker on the phone is actually super loud. I had to turn down the volume a bit, which i normally do not have to do for my other phones. No phone is going to be 100% perfect. Each has its flaw, but overall, there are not too many on this sucker, and its pretty cool looking too.
i jus got this phone today and i SOOOOOOOOOOOOO love it!!!!!!!!!! its great! the only thing wrong with it is that its not a slider but i can get used to tha flip :-)
ok u guy are retarted ifu think that the phone has bad sound quality because it does not. u can fucking choose to put it on vibrate or not fucking dumbass saying it chooses its own thing. u must of damged it
I had owned several phones while being VZW customer but that one is the worst. Phone is randomly shutting down (completly, not just restarting). Phone drop rate reminds me of Cingular in mid-90's. Phone decides by itself either to ring or vibrate. Tons of calls are not getting through. VZW replaced that phone 3 times in 4 months, then flashed software on the phone and it "fried" it, they replaced it again. After all that, their tech support rep who I was transfered to to resolve my problem, confirmed that it is known hardware issue and I can choose to replace this phone with another make/model of my choice by purchasing any one under a new 2 year plan. Oh...thank you for being so genereous. What about $199 that paid 4 months ago, who will refund that. VZW tell me that they will give me $70 if I will ship that phone back to them. If VZW knew about the problem, why not to recall this damp thing. Why is still being sold? How many more people need to suffer while VZW rips you off? I though that Cingular and Sprint were bad. VZW is not a bit better. The only difference is that they provide excellent customer service by pushing another sale pitch.
Ok I've had this phone for about 2 months. I know I struggled finding reviews of people who have owned the phone for a long period of time. I heard rumors that the keypad heats up and the phone heats up a bit after texting alot, which is true. it's not bothersome really. Sometimes, the spinning thing on the front doesn't work, and I use it frequently. The keypad lock is anything but annoying. It scratches very easily. I'm loving the camera, it's excellent, has night mode, however still no flash. I've had my phone freeze a few times, which worries me. I love the fact that when erasing text messages it takes no more than a second. The T9 word is amazing, it's actually somewhat easier to text on it. The call quality is pretty good. Its a great music phone, I use it as my iPod, because it actually holds more music. Vcast and rhapsody is a rip. Just put your own music on it. For mac users! You can connect to this phone via bluetooth. That's how I transfer files. In fact, I think it's easier. I love the fact you can get to my verizon quickly and easily. I love love love the fact you can change the color themes. Overall, it's a great phone. It feels sturdy, but the scratching is not that great. Its great for a teenager, you can put standard headphones into it, great sound quality speakerphone too. It's great with texting and music, not as much calling though.
