In my opinion one of the best handsets in the market.
It's fast, easy to use, with a very appealing design and it feels great in the hand.
The camera is the best I've ever used, with photos with a lot of detail and quality. The new wide angle camera lets you capture even more in the pictures we take.
It´s is the phone that I use at the moment ... i have it always with me!

The 8x is a great looking phone - i got the blue one and it's definitely a looker. As it's quite boldly colored, i do get people asking what it is and people really do notice. Screen size is good, and the screen they've used is a nice, bright, high res screen. It's so much better than the low res screens that Windows Phone mandated in the past.

My unit felt a little flimsy sometimes, and I wonder if some of the small things could have been improved with more user testing. The camera button feels wobbly, and sometimes i can't tell if i've hit the detente for autofocus or if it's just that i've tipped it to one side. Some of the other buttons are also not raised too much, and i often find that i hit the power button and the volume buttons because i'm trying to grip and press simultaneously.

However, as a package, it's quite a nice phone, and i enjoy using it. The wide front facing camera is a neat feature as well - though i wish they had put it on the back. I'm not a vain person, i'd rather get the wide angle benefit on my main camera!

Love at first sight. When I first encountered the 8X, I knew that this is a phone I just had to have. The form factor is perfect for single handed usage while not compromising the integrity of the display. Speaking of which, is probably one the most brilliant displays HTC has ever produced. The subtly convex glass enhances the transition animation and gave it a pseudo-waterfall effect as if the previous screen is dribbling off the edge. The 8X is truly a showcase of HTC's prowess in hardware design.

Design, Build Quality and Ergonomics:
The device is designed to blend with the Live Tiles and HTC has done a very good job doing so. Built quality is superb, there is no light leaks and the screen is perfectly flushed into the chassis, making it very sleek and seamless. The only complain I have is that the volume button can rattle. Ergonomic wise, I can handle the phone well with one hand. The device is cleverly designed with tapered sides, which makes it feel really thin. The lightweight of the phone helps in single handed operations, too. Nothing to complain in terms of shape and weight. The screen size is perfect for me. My only gripe is that the positioning and the flushed power button make it a little hard to operate it. Nothing serious. Camera hardware button is great and has nothing to complain about. Responds very well. Capacitive buttons give a good tactile respond, not vibrating too hard nor too soft.

Display:
Blacks are sufficiently dark. Sunlight legibility is good, if not great. It is sufficiently visible under bright tropical sunlight with medium brightness. Viewing angles, however, suffers if viewed from extreme angles, especially from the corner view. Have to be noted is that, these are really extreme angles, so daily usage will not be affected at all.

Audio:
I am a music lover, and my biggest concern about this phone was the audio quality. I am very accustomed to customisable graphical EQ, which I couldn't find in the WP Store. But, turns out that the standard audio output is great. Beats audio mostly amps up the volume, bass and treble, but does make a difference in audio experience. Speaker is amazing. It reproduces lows and highs quite nicely without distortions. I have never had a better audio speaker experience from a phone before. It drives most headphones without hiccups. Bottom line is I am not disappointed with the audio at all.

Camera:
The wide angle and wide aperture main camera is inspiring for me. It takes great shots and although may not have the same performance like the PureView, is nothing to be looked down upon. It takes great macro shots as well. The front camera is out of this world! The only let down is the slight distortions around the edges, which is expected from a wide angle lens like this. My only complain is the sometimes slow focus in video and maybe the absence of image stabilizer (software or hardware).

In conclusion, the device is a work of art that turns head. All my colleagues are asking about it. People on the streets are staring at it. Unlike the Lumia, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is not a hardware pusher, but rather a workhorse, something that the Redmond people wants WP8 to be. It is more comfortable and more ergonomic.

This is a masterpiece that has to be seen to fully understand the intricacy of the design. A work of art to look at and a pleasure to hold and use. HTC has gone great lengths to perfect the design and the materials used in creating this phone. Under the bonnet hardware is completely matched to the outer design performing even better than the specs would suggest. And than you fire up the camera. From this point on you will forget about your regular point&shoot camera as this phone will make it redundant! Fantastic pics, HD video, great performance. In a nutshell all you could ask for. Everything on this phone is smooth and well balanced, from the design, to the hardware and battery. Everything just simply works. If you're thinking about a Windows phone, think no further!A massive recommendation from me!

After 3 weeks of using my HTC 8X (California Blue), i am starting to find my phone more appealing everyday.

You will need to get used to the UI, but it's very intuitive. Even the less experienced users will be having no problems getting around windows phone 8.

The best feature on this phone is the wide angle front camera. It's more clear than any other phone on the market today. Because of the wide angle, it's also no problem to take selca's with a group. The main cam is really sharp and clear, even under dark circumstances.

The buildquality is very good. I couldnt detect any movement or cracks in the housing.
The coating on the back feels very pleasurable and it gives more grip. It wont make you feel like the phone will drop out of your hands. The sides are tapers. This makes the phone feel smaller than it actually is.

the 4,3" screen is very clear despite the 1280x720 resolution.

The only cons are that not all the populair apps we see on android and iOS devices are available on windows phone 8. Although this shouldnt be a reason for you not to buy this device. The most popular apps like facebook, whatsapp etc are available for WP8.

WP8 certainly has potential and i think that MS will be adding more features in the next big updates.

If you are looking for a new device that is packed with functionality and wrapped in style then the HTC 8X is for you. I have been using the 8X for about a month now and I am in love with it. The designers have really out done themselves with this one. I can easily describe the outer style with one word, Smooth. There is not a sharp spot anywhere on this thing, instead, HTC decided to turn every corner into a curve. A great decision I must say. it is comfortable to hold, practically disappears in your pocket, and it is pleasing to the eyes, Especially with all the brilliant color choices.

The screen is crisp and full of rich colors and responds to your touch without any delays. The sound quality is very surprising. Not only does it have Beats audio integrated in it but the headphone port and loud speaker are amplified! This doesn't mean that its just louder but also cleaner sound. The 8X can easily replace you current MP3 player.

The camera, although lacking stock extras like Panorama and HDR which come on other HTC devices, is very capable of capturing those precious moments. The front camera goes where others cannot, with a 88 degree wide angle lens you can get the whole group in the shot along with a highlight of where you are.

Being a Windows Phone, it is all about productivity. The customizable live tiles on the home screen are great, you can get so much information with just one quick glance. The integrated office apps and SkyDrive access makes keeping on top of things, both work and personal, a breeze. And although there are not as many apps as other OS markets, there are many high quality and very useful ones that will leave you feeling, 'why do I need so many apps anyway I have everything I need here.' Plus like any app market, it is growing fast.

My only gripe would be there is no SD slot to extend your storage capacity. Considering all the free cloud storage you can get, its not a huge deal breaker.

In all I think the 8X is a beautiful and highly functional device that can meet, if not exceed, your demands of your mobile needs.

HTC has done it again. Incredibly fast and powerful device that fits nicely in the hand. To me, 4.3" is perfect size for a smartphone that you can easily use one handed. Beats audio really does enhances the sound.

I have had my California Blue 8x for a couple of months now and I have to say, it is a fantastic device. It looks great, is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye and to the hand, it is just the right dimensions for me, the screen spills off the edges and the tactile grippy finish adds to the pleasing feel of the front. The rear of the 8X is just as pleasing with its thin, curved edges. HTC as usual have paid attention to the details and have nailed it yet again.
The 8X is really smooth on the inside, the dual core innards are really zippy and it doesn't lag whatsoever. WP8 does take a little getting used to but once I had readjusted from Android it was a refreshing change and a pleasure to use.
The battery, once bedded in easily lasts me all day long and more, standby life is phenomenal too. HTC's use of Beats Audio means that their phones in recent times have sounded great thru headphones, well, the 8X has a dual amplifier on board and music thru the phones speaker has to be heard to be believed, I haven't experienced anything like it, the volume is really impressive and with headphones it sounds divine too.
My favourite part of any smartphone is the camera and the 8x has two. The rear 8mp is great (it is missing Panorama and Burst mode but I think they will arrive in a future update) but the real winner here is the 2.1mp wide angle front facing camera (88degrees no less) I am so impressed with it in fact that I am doing a photo a day project (along with some friends) called 8x365, where we use the front camera to do a self shot for the whole of 2013...
All in all a great handset and I am really glad that I choose the 8x. I am positive you will love it too :)

The HTC WP8X provides a welcomed unique experience in a sea of smartphones that are seemingly all the same.

The Hardware itself is thin and light, easy to use with one hand and fits in a shirt or pants pocket.

The screen is bright, reproduces colors accurately and likewise sharp. The screen has a higher PPI then the iphone 5, and you can see the difference when looking at them side by side. The Gorilla glass provides welcomed protection and added durability to the vibrant touch screen.

The HTC design team clearly thought the phone through and aimed to make it a cut above the rest in an increasingly crowded market. The color accents give it that extra personal and unique look.

The audio is above average. No static, and voices are crystal clear. The speakerphone is plenty loud. Call quality and reception was at the top of it’s class and I did not suffer any dropouts. It does not support wifi calling yet, though that is a minor nuisance.
The operating system is where this phone really shines above the others. The iphone’s iOS has become stale and boring. Little has changed in the years since it’s inception and is frequently playing catchup to android os and now windows phone os. The windows phone takes the phone os to the next level. Instead of boring rows of icons, it uses live tiles that provide instant information and you can launch the app directly from it.

WP8 is also a master of pulling information. The people hub links with facebook, twitter, my Exchange and LinkedIn accounts and feeds updates from my contacts together. It does not matter where the updates are coming from, information is presented cleanly and uniformly for each of my contacts. How simple; how revolutionary.

When you post an update it sends it to all your services. Something neither iOS or android currently do natively. You must download a 3rd party app to do it with them.

As far as applications, most every application that I used on Android and iOS are present on WP8 or at least an equivalent that works the same, or in some cases better.

This is a phone that needs to be seen in-person to appreciate the full experience. The operating system is fresh and unlike anything you have used before and is a pleasant relief from the antiquated iPhone and Android OS's. This phone sets the bar with innovation and people are pleasantly surprised when I put it in their hand. This is definitely a phone you need to have on your list to checkout when you pickup your next smartphone.

The only way you can start a review of this phone, is to talk about how well designed it is. It looks are sleek, its curves are beautiful and I can honestly see every new smartphone on the market in the next 24 months taking some inspiration from it. I’ve had the phone nearly two months now and it always draws admiring glances.

Apart from the phones glamorous looks, it also packs a hefty punch underneath. The first thing you will notice is the display is very clear and I enjoy looking at the Internet more on the 8X than I do on my HTC One X despite the screen being smaller, the touchscreen also responds to every touch well.

Although the WP8 music system is not the best I have seen on a phone, the sound quality on the phone is very high quality, especially through the loudspeaker which I use a lot to entertain my daughter!

HTC have also looked hard at the front camera on the phone, something which almost seems like an afterthought on many smartphones, in an age where we seem to be taking more pictures of ourselves with friends (admit it, we’ve all done it, or at least seen them on Facebook!) it is good to see phone designers thinking of how we use a phone. The clarity you get from the front facing camera is like nothing I have seen, this is also true of what you can fit into the pictures I guess due to the wide angle lens. (My current record was taking a group picture of 10 of us in a pub!)

The tradition reverse camera is adequate, although I do have a few concerns over indoor pictures.

If you have made the decision to migrate to Windows Phone 8, or you are looking at your first smartphone I couldn’t recommend this innovate phone enough. Its ease of use is a big plus point, you could hand it to your dear old Mum and she would be able to customise it to her tastes without any problems.

I went from an iPhone, then 2 Android phones, and now this one. I found myself perplexed at first. The style, the actions, everything seems so different from iOS or Android. At first I was feeling a little out of place overall. After a day it started to grow on me. The little quirks, lack of apps, and differences where uncomfortable...but at the same time I felt like this was really a phone to be excited about and to give it time. After 3 days the little quirks where worth it 100%. There where tons of the RIGHT apps all the sudden. The simplicity and beauty of the overall phone is just astonishing. I find it strange that some people dislike it but I think it is beautiful, fluid, unique, and modern. The apps are less common but the more users the more the Store keeps growing. The actual apps I have noticed are almost all far more dynamic and exciting than their counterparts on other OSs. I keep seeing people freak out about not having Google support but it can hold on its own without Google. I would just say try this phone or even just the Windows Phone 8 OS in general...it can only get better and for being an early adopter you will probably get a lot out of it. They already are giving you perks like a thank you app. I would recommend this 100%

Screen- AMAZING
Camera- Sometimes my shots are crazy good and sometimes not...luckily it is easy to snap several at once.
Battery- Lasts FAR longer than any other phone I have had (I also keep the brightness on full to show off the screen)
Also POOR apps are not a Windows Phone Problem but instead a developer problem. If you have a problem with an app...complain to the developer.

coming from an iphone 4 this is way better.Very fast, Beautiful screen love the wireless charging.It intergrates with window 8 on my p.c very well and just an all over gem.The O.S is missing a few apps but overall the apps on this os are a lot better quality than the rest.

Bought the HTC Windows Phone 8X in December 2012. Have to say, for a phone with 4.3" is slighlty bigger than other phones of the same display size. This should not bother most people though. At first glance, the phone is beautiful and looks slimmer than it actually is. It also has a great display, albeit not an AMOLED panel. Battery life seems to be below average and requires a daily charge or sometimes twice a day with heavy usage.

I am not going to call this an iPhone nor Android “killer” as all devices have their merits. Being in IT, I have had the opportunity to play with them all and I am very glad that Microsoft finally has a phone worth recommending. It is a solid operating system with a great user interface that is very responsive.
It matches feature by feature my last Android and then some. I am very, very impressed with the overall versatility of the phone and its ability to synchronize work email flawlessly, give you xBox and facebook – and did I mention that is all works together so seamlessly?!
I am really pleasantly surprised Microsoft! I honestly believed that my review would have been to bash Microsoft to death again for being so lame, but they actually have a contender here!

I have had my 8X for a little under a month now and I must say I love it. I was deciding between this and the iPhone 5. I had gotten bored with iOS and how much it hasn't changed. I wanted something new and this was it. On the plus size it is faster, has bigger and better screen resolution, and feels smaller even though it isn't. The bezeled edges make it feel paper thin and also make it not stretch your pocket, you can barely tell it is there. It is heavier than the iPhone 5 but that give it a high quality feel rather than it seeming cheap. The camera is awesome and the front camera is incredible, the best I have ever used or seen. I highly recommend this phone as long as you are willing to adopt a new OS, if you are fine with the iPhone's same ole' same ole' then the faster performance, better screen and better feel may sway you.

I really want Windows Phone 8 to be amazing. I can see for sure now that it will be...some day. It is just NOT ready for prime time. No basic finance apps (Wells Fargo, BoA, etc)...no Spotify...no functional Java client...it is just NOT ready. I am an IT manager and we really want the Microsoft uniform model to work. Windows 8 PCs, Windows 8 Tablets, and Windows 8 Phones. Trust me....that will make life so much easier to manage for our 10,000+ users. The footprint is there...but it needs to be filled in.

But as far as the HTC Windows 8X phone is concerned, this device is nice. Smooth lines, fast features, conveniently placed button and navigation. The battery life is just okay. The BEATS audio feature is cool and the screen is very brilliant. Of course, you can't go wrong with Gorilla Glass either. I like this phone. Just needs a more robust OS to go along with it.

NOTE: Do not expect to replace your iPhone with Windows Phone 8 devices yet. They are just NOT there yet.
