Excellent Android phone

Phone owned for less than 3 months

This is an all around excellent Android phone with some specific stand out features.

** Positives **

BoomSound: The sound coming out of this little device is *unreal*. Truly excellent speakers for such a small package! As far as I know, no other Android devices (or iPhones) come anywhere close. Audio quality while using the phone for regular (non-speakerphone) calls is also excellent.

4G LTE on T-Mobile: This is one of the first devices to support T-Mobile's LTE. It also supports HSPA+ 42Mb/s, so you've got 4G coverage basically all over the United States.

Display: The display on the One is gorgeous. The color reproduction looks pretty good. Some other phones, such as the older HTC One S model, are too "punchy" or saturated. This display looks more realistic, and works decently well outdoors in the sun, also.

Aesthetics: The case on this device feels very nice and solid. The back side is curved which feels really nice in the hand, but you may want to get a case for when you set the phone down on a table to keep the back from getting scratched.

Zoe: It's an optional mode when you're taking pictures. When shooting a Zoe, the camera captures 1 second prior to when you press the shutter, plus 3 seconds following the shutter, for a total of 20 frames plus audio. You can select to save out individual frames (to get the best shots, for instance), and you can combine still images and Zoes into a 30 second film and online photo album called HTC Share.

** Negatives **

One thing I noticed with LTE coverage in the Phoenix area is that I rarely get more than one or two bars of signal strength on LTE, and it will often switch between HSPA+ ("4G") and LTE ("4G LTE").

This phone has a power button which is also an IR emitter and receiver, but I could not get it to learn the commands it was missing from my Media Center remote, so I could not really use it. Your mileage will vary here.

The volume buttons are a bit hard to access. Nothing terrible, it's just that they're small with no bump outs and they don't have any spacing between them.

Sense 5: It's overall a nice improvement over Sense 4. Things look cleaner/crisper and much closer to stock Android. Some things are really confusing though. BlinkFeed can't be completely turned off. The launcher screens look nearly the same as the app listing, so it's confusing as to where you are.

Hands free operation: The button on the headset does not activate Google Now unless the device display is turned on and unlocked. This means you cannot place phone calls or send texts from the headset except to redial the last number that was used (by double tapping the button). HTC's Windows Phones allow voice commanding through a headset while the device is locked.

Camera: The camera takes great quality pictures overall, but they are only 4 megapixels. So you will probably not want to print any of them above 5x7 size.

Battery: It's not user replaceable.

2013 Smartphone of the Year

Phone owned for less than 3 months

After using the HTC One for well over a month, I can say without fear or doubt, “The HTC One is 2013 Smartphone of the year.” The design is breathtaking and unique, you can definitely spot it out of a crowd of phone from both the back and the front. The full metal body scream premium in looks and feel. That 4.7 in 1080p makes everything from texts to games vivid and come to life. Those dual-front facing speakers add clarity, volume and bass to your music, videos, games and even phone calls. The Ultrapixel™ camera is a masterpiece of a camera, from brilliant outdoors shots to marvellous indoor/ low-light shots. Even BlinkFeed™, which I thought I wouldn’t use, is surprising very good at keeping you from using dozen of different apps to check your news and social media as it is presented to you in a very and professional manner. Now finally, the most important thing of any smartphone, Performance; The HTC One neither know nor show any sign of lag, hiccups, struggling, when switching homescreen, opening apps, browsing the web, or playing games. It handle everything you throw at it, like it was nothing at all. The only thing I don’t like about the phone is that the buttons for volume and power are very flush to the devices and it’s hard to tell if you press the button or not. Other things what have been said about I have nothing else to say and I hope you guys enjoy the devices and I if you need more info click the link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J1sGfAfc_0)

HTC One - The Best

Phone owned for less than a month

A) Hardware
•HTC manufactured a tremendous smartphone! HTC One is beyond my expectations in terms of build quality!
•Not ONLY it's made of a single metal body, It also has a relatively lightweight, a great feel in the hand and a premium look!
•The curved back was awesome! Couldn't believe it till I held it!
•Boom Sound Front Dual Speakers, Beats Audio and the Noise Cancellation intelligent chip are champions! My voice, and other party voice, are really clear in the noisiest environment (Sometimes I have to make a phone call from a factory’s production yard, with all machinery running, and the in-call sound clarity is awesome). Phone calls now are at their best with HTC One.
•The Silver White HTC One is stunningly goodlooking. All of my friends love it.
•Battery life is better than what I had on my previous HTC phones (HTC OneX/X+), for my same moderate usage pattern. I, now, seldom use the external battery bank to charge my HTC One to make it last through the night.
•Cell phone signal, Mobile Data, WiFi and Bluetooth have no problems whatsoever.
•I get a relatively faster GPS lock on my HTC One, compared to my previous HTC phones, which is amazing.

B) Software
•HTC One has made a great experience! HTC Sense 5 is truly lighter than previous Sense versions, it’s minimal, but very capable. I never experienced any lag, on my HTC One, switching from app to app.
•I love that I can group all the apps in “Folders”, right in the “App Trey”, I use “Custom” mode to sort my apps and move them around the app trey. This is very awesome, as I used to have my most frequently used apps on folders on my main homescreen, now all my folders are one click away, right in the app trey, saving space on my other homescreens.
•When I first bought my HTC One, I tried to explore HTC Blink Feed. It took me absolutely no time to customize what I need to be shown on Blink Feed. I loved it.
•I love that Blink Feed can be set to Automatically Refresh, only on WiFi. If I’m on Mobile Internet, I drag the Blink Feed down to refresh.
•I love the HTC Music Player with rich voice and Beats Audio sound enhancer, on the stereo boom sound front speakers and on the headphones.
•I love that the Music Player can actually pull down the lyrics and album arts and show them on screen.
•ZOE takes a window of 3 seconds shot, when you press the shutter button onscreen! This enables you to do tremendous editing! I love all the editing modes, especially the “Always Smile” which enables me to choose the best scene of a group of my friends.
•You can remove unneeded moving objects! ZOE is really smarts enough to determine what objects you may need to take out! Mainly moving! I love this option a lot.
•I love the “Sequence Shot” mode, taking a set of photos and then choosing best 5 is brilliant.
•I loved the 30 Seconds Highlights Video which is created automatically and highlights your whole day.
•HTC Share is very fun, I loved that I can share the whole event with friends.

The new king of Android.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I'll be honest. At first, leading up to the announcement, I was not expecting the then-rumored M7 to be anything that would blow me away. I assumed it would be a modified version of the One X that launched last year, with a slightly remixed design that incorporated things from the Droid DNA in a respun manner.
I don't think I've ever been that wrong before.
This phone is unlike anything I've ever used. I remember how it used to be that an all-metal phone was impossible. I remember how people used to say that front facing speakers were never happening. I remember how people used to say HTC was finished. With this single phone, HTC has destroyed all those notions in a single fell swoop.
It is only fitting that we begin with the metal unibody. Coming from an HTC 8X, this phone is simply something else. The metal body simply feels incredible in the hand. The razor thin edge leads to this incredibly ergonomic curved back that allows it to easily rest in the hand. Even though the edge is so thin, the grip is reassuring. There's this slight outward curve that means that if you try to pinch your fingers together, the worst that can happen is that it falls into your palm, as opposed to the inward curve of other phones that can send the phone flipping out of the hand. Every single design element seems to be thought out with incredible care. Something like the IR blaster, which is awkwardly placed on the Galaxy S4, is cleverly hidden on the HTC One to appear as if it isn't there at all.
The next piece of the puzzle is the display. I do not often lavish praise on displays, but this display is incredible. I would go as far as to say that it's the best display you can get in the smartphone space today. No other OEM has managed to get the incredible viewing angles that make it look as if the screen is painted under the glass. The resolution is so high that I cannot distinguish pixels no matter how hard I try, something that could not be said of the 720p displays of last generation. The colors are perfect, and calibration is the best in the Android space. Brightness makes sunlight viewing easy, something that could not be said of Samsung's OLED panels used in the Galaxy S line.
The next part is the camera. In low light, I am confident in saying that it is the best camera on the market today. Places like restaurants or indoors are where this camera simply blows away the competition. In night time, it isn't even a comparison. The One produces clear, bright images where phones like the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 simply give noise patterns. In daytime, while the resolution is not the best, it certainly can keep up with the iPhone and Galaxy S4 for the most part. The only place where it really falls short is for long distance landscapes, where the low resolution costs it greatly.
While it may seem like this is the only advantage, the biggest advantage is from the hardware optical stabilization and the HDR microphones. Both combine together to record incredible video foot

Near perfection from HTC, best yet

Phone owned for less than a month

Being in cell phone sales, I'm pretty picky with phones. I had been watching this phone since February and it lived up to the hype. Nothing feels more quality than the aluminum body and the design of dual front facing speakers. The screen resolution is amazing and makes media experience really nice. I don't care how many pixels the camera is, it takes fantastic shots with great detail and editing options. I can't complain about the software because its customizable, if you don't like sense then root it. If you don't like blinkfeed then use a different launcher (apex is nice and free). If you don't like the battery life use juice defender ultimate. Overall this is the best phone out right now in my opinion.

A Full Generation Ahead of the Other Smartphones

Phone owned for less than 3 months

First of all, the build is awesome. If you're geeky, like me, you'll love the fact that this phone is machined out of a solid block of aluminum. It feels great. Absolute lack of creaks like I've had with every plastic phone I've had. Perfectly rigid. I've dropped it (no case) and there was no mark at all. My wife even slid it over salt on a restaurant table and there were no marks at all. Any fear of aluminum scratching easily are unfounded. This is not like the iPhone 5. How did it take so long for someone to figure out a way to make an all metal body? It pays off in the feel and look.

The Boomsound is no gimmick. These speakers are loud and clear. My wife even listens to music on the speakers while washing dishes. They sound that good! Plus, the headphone jack has an independent amp and sounds absolutely great. The only phone that sounds better with music (on the headphone jack) is the HTC 8X. This thing is a music lover's dream...especially if you subscribe to one of those streaming music services.

On the topic of sound, the call quality is amazing! I've never had a clearer call, even on a land line. My mother in law is hard of hearing and this is the first phone that gave her no problems during calls. The noise reduction is so good that my wife can't even tell when I'm driving...even on speakerphone (which is loud enough to use without bluetooth so you don't get a ticket!). There is NO louder phone.

The screen is amazing. If you turn off powersaver mode, it is brighter than the Galaxy S4. The LCD nature gives you the sharpest possible picture. People say you can't tell, but I can see the fuzz of the pentile display on AMOLEDs (go look up close at a store...you'll see...there is a difference). The colors aren't as saturated as an AMOLED, but it is SoLux certified (google it...it's a certification for professional color accuracy!). The text is so sharp, it looks painted on. On top of it, I didn't even realize, before this phone, that the notification tray icons sometimes have text in them! This phone is soooo sharp!

The camera handles anything! I've gotten so many shots that I couldn't have before with the great low light and high contrast performance. I've gotten shots of people's faces with the sun right over their shoulder. Despite the complaints of only 4.3MP, I've printed spectacular 4x6 prints...haven't tried larger yet, but no one can believe these prints are from a phone.

The battery isn't a problem at all. I get 20 hours between charges with 3 hours of screen time. If you get something less, check your apps. I've fixed a couple of people's battery times by finding a rogue app that runs down the battery using the CPU in the background.

Lastly, the processor and RAM make this phone scream. Not all RAM is made the same...some manufacturers use slow RAM to save money that causes lag, even with the same or better specs. Not so here...this phone is perfect.

T-Mobile HTC ONE

Phone owned for less than a month

Don’t let the “not running the latest version of Android” talk fool you, the HTC One is the best all-around smartphone on the market today. It has the features you want (like dual-front speakers, a browser that can run flash, wide- angled cameras and infrared) without feeling jam-packed with gimmicks. By going with 4.1.2, it gave HTC a chance to cut down the errors you find when using GUI’s with Android. I am noticing a considerable drop in app crashes compared to my last phone (The Galaxy Note 2, which is a great phone as well. It’s my second choice right now.)

My two cents on BlinkFeed.
I didn’t think I would use Blinkfeed (I already use Scope), but I am using it way more than I expected. It is great for reading news articles when you are on the go. Currently have it set for Vice, Atlantic and Reuters. I am hoping they add more sources in the future. NPR, Harper’s and National Enquirer would make my next list.

perfect phone

Phone owned for less than a month

The phone is the best I've ever used. The build quality is just so premium. Boomsound is so awesome it makes my nexus 4 sound so bad! Blinkfeed is good if that's your thing. I prefer the traditional homescreen but I still use blinkfeed from time to time. The battery life is just awesome. 7hrs. screen time easy every day for me. Lastly the camera is the best i've ever used. seriously nothing comes close to the quality of pictures that come out of this phone.

Better than the GS4 and iPhone 5. End of Story.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

The battery life understandably is a bit less than I would like. Taking advantage of the ridiculous hardware and tremendous screen is very draining. Any bit of moderate use will drain it before the day is done. I've pretty much kept power saver on all the time to keep life to a full day with moderate use.

Surpasses the hype!

Phone owned for less than 3 months

After spending just over a month with the HTC One, I have to say that I am highly impressed.
I expected an adjustment period for the new technology that is present on the device such as Blinkfeed, and Zoe; but what I found was an easy transition to full immersion.
The entire Sense UI has an entirely different feel than previous versions, yet somehow maintains a sense of familiarity. HTC made a bold move by deleting one of the standard 3 buttons found on all other Android devices. After a day with the phone, it is second nature to use the 2 button layout.
I wasn't sure I would use Blinkfeed, and now, I can't see how I lived with out it. I love that I am immediately updated on all of my news and social feeds just by hitting the power button.
Call quality on the ONE is outstanding, even in noisy settings. The screen of this phone is so crisp and vivid, this is the one feature that is immediately noticeable when you turn it on.
I love watching videos on it, with the front facing dual surround speakers with BoomSound technology, the experience is fully engaging and bold.
The pictures taken with the 4mp Ultrapixel camera are extremely vivid and detailed. The colors are accurate, and in low light situations, not a detail is missed.
The battery has performed better than my HTC OneX by about 20%. I am averaging about 7-8 hours of moderately heavy usage before getting to about 10 percent battery. I can't complain about that at all. This is a smart phone, it is doing a lot, and I do not expect the battery to last an entire day.
My overall experience with this phone is pure pleasure. I can not find one thing to complain about.

Best phone ever! Can't keep my hands off it!

Phone owned for less than 3 months

The all metal casing of the one gives a solid, stylish and modern design that feels good in the hand. It is unique and captures everyone's attention in silver. Screen size is perfect for the small hand, and having the screen side to side is an excellent use of space without adding any bulk. It is sleek and thin. Speaking of the HD screen resolution, the screen looks great, brilliant and colors look crisp, even under sunlight. Boomsound speakers are great. In terms of the new features, Blinkfeed is something to get used to, it is a great way to have all the headline updates without entering the web. And I love how I can have my normal custom screen as a home page instead of the Blinkfeed if I want to (I have a picture of my kids as wallpaper), so if anyone does not like the Blinkfeed have the option to just "ignore it". The camera is great, still learning more features about it, but Zoe is a new and great experience. Watching the photos come to life in the album, and having them posted in the Blinkfeed is a way to keep in touch with memories. (And I am a camera power user, as I am always taking pictures of every moment). Love its macros and lowlights. Overall it is the best phone I've owned, comming from the HTC One X which is excellent, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

The #HTCOne is THE phone of 2013

Phone owned for less than 3 months

“Inspirational, conceptual, beautiful. The #HTCOne is THE phone of 2013”

HTC really have done a superb job with this phone, I have been running the silver variant for 2 months now and have to say this is one of the finest phones I have used to date. Not only in design, but the Sense UI has been trimmed to give a more fluid feel and less power hungry which shows in the battery usage.

Every aspect of this phone is outstanding and I have never had a phone I've been so happy to use and enjoy. Definitely recommended

HTC ONE

Phone owned for less than a month

The device its really worth it, camera its the best in the market, in my opnion, Battery is ok, Very smooth. For me its perfect size i really dont get used to 5 inches devices for me 4.7 its the perfect match for me. . Boomsound is the best sound quality you can ever seen. The only thing that i noticed its when i use the Boomsound on Youtube App, somehow the sound starts to be a litlle wheezing, not so much just a little, but when i play some random music or video thru the play music that problem just down show up anymore .. so i dont know why that happens...Overall, the device is really worth it i recomend for anyone who is deciding whether buy GS4 or HTC One. Im pretty happy with this device.

I have owned 3 iphones and this is the phone that got me to switch to android!

Phone owned for less than a month

I am quite used to and fsamiliar with iPhone as I WAS an iFan for many years! I also have an Asus Transfoermer Infinity Tablet thus am familiar with android. The design and general specas of this phone intrigued me from day one, I was anxiously anticipating it's release and video / online reviews were making me even more antsy as all of them seemed to confirm my hopes of something sexy, fast, and feature rich. All of my hopes were happily fullfilled as the phone performs better than advertised! The camera IS amazing, the sound is incredible and the screen? Text at even the smallest sizes is still completely legible! I will never go back to iPhone and am glad I switched to the ONE!

A PIECE OF §HIT WRAPPED IN ALUMINUM

Phone owned for less than a month

Well, having owned this One for about two weeks before hurriedly ditching it and going for the S4 which I now use, I think it's fair enough to say I had a pretty bad time with it those two weeks. This phone just sucks!! It has nothing else going for it except its (even questionable) design and design materials.

Best phone I have owned

Phone owned for less than a month

I have had a Galaxy S2, and enjoyed it (once I used a custom ROM). After anticipating the Galaxy S4 for a while, I was a bit surprised when I saw the HTC One announcement. i was amazed at the build, camera and features and made the decision to buy this instead. I am so glad I did. I don't even feel the need to change the ROM or user experience. HTC Sense is working well and smoothly. The camera, build and UI are the best out right now.

Single-handedly best mobile phone to date. Period.

Phone owned for less than a month

Having had the HTC One for over a week, I can safely say this is the first Android device to top them all. There is not a single reason to get an iPhone or a Blackberry in favour of this monster. All the classic Android niggles that have always gone against its favour are in the past: beyond extensive catalogue of quality paid and free apps (is definitely on par with the Apple App Store); zero stutter or lag; connectivity beyond reason; unprecedented polished feel of Sense UI and Android; miles higher pixel density, screen size and resolution; cheaper than the iPhone 5 and Blackberry Z10; superior stereo speakers quality (can't overstate this enough); incredible form factor (the most comfortable handset to hold in my opinion); completely fingerprint, scratch and scruff-proof after a week of intensive case-free use and carry.

My advice is to drop whatever phone you have now and get this, it was build to last with HTC switching to a one-flagship-a-year policy. The 4.2 update is within reach (~1 month) and considering the phone is magnificent even without it makes for an incredible solid quality phone. My flatmate's iPhone 5 is dwarfed in every respect including design/looks/feel, speed, battery life and even app availability.

Best Decision Ever

Phone owned for less than a month

I didnt know if I wanted an HTC One or a Samsung GS4. I am more than happy I purchased an HTC One. I went from the HTC Amaze to the HTC One, there is a major difference but the One makes the Amaze look sick and old. Honestly, I dont see much of a difference between the Amaze's 8mp camera and the One's 4mp camera- its better than I thought it was going to be. Low to no light situations come out fantastic thanks tot he UltraPixels. Screen is huge and bright, sound is exceptional, I was skeptical about the internal storage but its really working out. I put all my apps and music on the phone and I still have around 17gb left. I LOVE that they don't partition the internal storage, everything fits right in under the same space and its easy to keep track of. The only thing that kind of annoys me is that there are no widgets for email or test messages the way there were on the Amaze. But I downloaded AquaMail and fixed all of that (I can live without seeing all the messages on one page). I wish there were more home pages too, the limit is 5. Other than those minor things the One is FANTASTIC!
