HTC One review

Phone owned for less than 3 months

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed by this phone. I definitely recommended this phone to anyone. In fact, three of my colleagues upgraded their phones to this after I showed and recommended this phone.

So far there is no other phone that screams both premium and performance like the HTC One. The hardware is a sight to behold, and the software compliments the hardware with not only look, but user-friendly operation, which are coupled with great features.

This is THE flagship of 2013.

Best smartphone on the market

Phone owned for less than 3 months

First thing you'll notice when you unbox your One, and almost everyone around web have a consistent opinion regarding that particular thing, is certainly the huge wow factor in its design. I own a silver version and I can testify that everything, from 1080p screen, across shiny edges to brushed aluminum back is beautifully crafted. And that cold feeling of metal in my hand puts a smile on my face every morning when I first touch it, honestly :) And if your phone gets hot during those countless hours of gaming sessions, rest assured that aluminum will dissipate that heat quite efficiently.

Small design decisions that made me quite happy were charging port at the bottom and IR sensor incorporated within power button (ridiculously good idea, btw). Silver version is also quite fingerprint-proof, so my OCD can take a little break there and I'm very thankful for that ;)

Speed? Believe me, it's fast. I mean REALLY FAST! I previously owned HTC One X+ and it was "fast enough" for me, but One takes the game to another level. I often turn off the phone overnight and I was pleasantly surprised with boot-up time (with "fast boot" disabled). HTC decided to give their (and my) beloved Sense a bit more professional, toned down feeling and that works quite well – no hiccups, no stutters, no dropped frames, no Sense restarts.

And is it just about software tweaks, but battery life on this phone is AMAZING! I usually give my phone pretty hard time and I was quite happy when my One X+ gave me 16h day with 3h of screen on time. Now, how about 17h with 5h screen on time? Maybe it could go even more but I had to go to sleep. Yup, you heard it well! This monster can be hyperactive much longer than you ;)

When I heard about BoomSound I thought it was a gimmick. I was wrong… I was VERY wrong. This phone has, hands down, THE BEST SOUND I have ever heard from a mobile device. I'm not talking only about loudness, I'm talking about quality. Those front speakers are something so special and so awesome that now I would probably never buy a phone without them. Couple of days ago, I heard my phone ringing from a bag… in a case… in my living room… while I was taking a SHOWER?! 'Nuff said? ;)

My only comment regarding Sense TVis: Bwaahahahaha, now I'm the king of all TVs in pubs and restaurants! :)) And finally a remote control that you can't lose. If you misplace it, simply call it ;)

HTC advertises One's "ultrapixel" camera as an unmatched low light performer and it does live up to its name. I'm not very fond of taking photos with mobile phone camera but… That "Zoe" thingy is AMAZING. Couple it with "Highlights" feature and those boring sessions where you show gazillion photos from vacation to your friends will turn into an artistic display. Imagine one ridiculously cool video for every day you spent swimming, sightseeing and partying. The way highlights combines your marked photos into a video with cool music and even cooler effects is something you NEED, believe me!

Just. WOW. Insane!

Phone owned for less than a month

So, to review this phone I have actually played with the Samsung S4, and the iPhone 5 for 20 minutes each. Prior to this one. Based on it's specs I knew I would like this one, but I also wanted to be impartial. And to be honest. THe end result was between this phone, and the S4.

That having been said: This phone absolutely rocks. In my tests and comparisons with friends who have the S4 (They thought their camera and battery was better, apparently they thought wrong) and I stand by my choice, firmly.

The phone of the millennium.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

The top features I like about this phone -

BlinkFeed
This is like a highly improved version of Flipboard which is inspired by the tiles layout found in Windows Phone OS. It has a huge list of content sources from which you can choose and is presented in a neat manner. It comes in handy when waiting for a bus or you can just scroll through it just because you can.

HTC Zoe
This is a camera feature which utilizes the ImageSense 2 chip to the fullest by recording a Full HD video and 30 frames of high resolution images both at the same time for 3 seconds. This feature comes in handy when clicking photos of subjects that are in motion like kids or pets.

Karaoke
This is a new addition to the stock music app on the HTC One. The phone when connected to Wi-Fi fetches the lyrics of all your music from its servers and is then presented to you in a very beautiful way so that you can sing along the song with your friends.

Sense TV
This is your personalized TV content manager which reminds you of show timings and other stuff. But the major feature of this app is that it uses the IR blaster in the phone to control you television, DTH Set Top Box, Audio System, DVD and all other appliances which have an IR remote.
Setting up the device is a piece of cake and you can go around the town switching channels on TV’s whenever you see one.

Apart from these the phone offers a number of camera tricks such as Sequence Shot which is similar to Action Shot, remove people from the background, always smile and also eyes open.
All this features can be used by either taking a Zoe or Burst Mode photos.

Best touchscreen Phone

Phone owned for less than a month

I have been using the HTC ONE for a week now and so far it's been great. I love the white matte plastic that surrounds the phone which looks really good and contrast well with the aluminum. The forward facing speakers have only gotten compliments so far from my friends and relatives. The 4.7 inches of the HTC ONE in my opinion the ideal screen size for those who love big screen devices.
Of all the smart phones I have used till now the HTC One has longest and best battery life. I use my phone all the time for various activities browsing social media sites, watching youtube videos and playing online games but I still have half my battery in the evening which is so cool. Also the UltraPixel camera makes the low light pictures more clear which was not possible earlier.
Overall the HTC ONE is value for money phone which has so many new features as compared to iphone and samsung.

The One you've been waiting for!

Phone owned for less than a year

I’ve been the proud owner of an HTC One for over a month. I can say with confidence that I've never been more satisfied with a mobile device. The HTC One features a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM which effortlessly handles all the multitasking that I've thrown at it. The lack of a removable battery and expandable storage, while not as popular amongst the masses, in favour of the embedded battery and 32 GB internal storage configuration found on the HTC One was not an issue for me and did not affect my enjoyment of the phone.

The zero gap construction and ergonomic curvature of the HTC One offers a premium experience that feels solid yet comfortable in the hand. I no longer live in fear should I ever drop my phone as I know it is the pavement that will come away worse off. The front of the device is dominated by the glorious 4.7 inch, 1080p display which makes Internet browsing and playing games visually engaging. The dual frontal stereo speakers offer unparalleled volume and sound quality for a phone. The position of the speaker/s on other phones and tablets is frustrating after experiencing HTC BoomSound. Rather than struggling to hear my phone in noisy environments I find myself turning it down! It’s a pleasure to share a new song or watch a video with a friend on the HTC One without having to overcome the mental barrier of the tinny sound that is prevalent on so many other mobile devices.

I don't profess to be a photographer. However, I've been taking more and more photos with the HTC One as I’m delighted with resulting image quality. The UltraPixel camera and sensor excel in low light conditions. With the advent of HTC Zoe and its ability capture up to 20 photos and a 3 second GIF-esque video, missing the moment is a thing of the past. The 2.1 MP, wide angle lens of the front facing camera is well suited to Google Hangouts and Skype video calling.

The HTC One currently runs Android 4.1.2 with HTC’s Sense 5.0 UX. While I've always been a fan of “straight from the Google tap” Android that’s offered on a Nexus device, to lose the functionality afforded by the Sense 5.0 UX would dilute the HTC One experience entirely.

I was initially worried that the quad-core processor and 4.7 inch 1080p display coupled with my inability to put the phone down would decimate the battery life on the HTC One. The 2300 mAh battery gives me up to 24 hours on a single charge and up to 36 hours on a single charge with “Power save” enabled.

I can't fault a single aspect of the HTC One and implore anyone who is considering to get this phone to do themselves a favour and follow through on their impulse. You won't be disappointed!

Superb!

Phone owned for less than a month

I've had my HTC One for about 4 weeks now and it continues to impress me.
When I got it in my hand the first time, I was overwhelmed at how nice it was to hold. It felt much more robust and premium than any other phone I have had and I have gradually had a lot of phones.
When I got it turned on, I was quickly through the setup and started to use it. One of the first things I had to try was BoomSound. I had been told that it was a superior sound experience, but it's hard to hear properly in videos online. So I found a Youtube video on the phone, and was blown away by the quality. It plays super loud, but at the same time, the sound deep, and without any hiss. BoomSound has become a hit among my friends :)
BoomSound can not be compared to any other phone. A fair comparison would be laptops with Beats Audio, or other serious sound enhancement systems!

BlinkFeed is also a nice idea, and it makes me look more news. I do need some more Danish sources though, but they continue to add more. For the international technology sites that I use, it's super easy to watch the news, and it gets me to read them instead of not keeping up with the latest anymore. BlinkFeed provides a good mix of what is relevant from around the web, from news to social updates on Twitter and Facebook.

The camera on HTC One is great for pictures in low light. I have taken more pictures from parties and the like. It's great to have usable images afterwards, which is not the case in other phones. Highlight Video feature is also a huge hit! A mixture of pictures and short clip of 3 seconds (HTC Zoe), in a 30 second video with matching music and theme! Super easy since it is automatically created every time you take pictures of a particular event!
Friends on Facebook are also quite fond of them!

Battery life of the phone is quite excellent. I consider myself to be a heavy user of my phone, with a lot of web surfing, Youtube videos, calls and text messages. I turn power savings mode on and off, depending on whether I'm at work or at home. I get between 15 and 20 hours of life out of the battery, which is a few more hours than I got on my One S and Sensation.

Truly the ONE - The BEST phone ever

Phone owned for less than a month

The HTC ONE is the best phone that I have ever used and I am in love with it. The aluminium body with flawless finish, the crisp and clear display, the sound of dual speakers is clear and with nearly no distortion, the battery life is also amazing. And, also ZOE...

I would surely give it a 5 star rating and would recommend this product to each and everyone of you.

Worse than Xperia Z and Samsung S4

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I used htc one for 45 days. its design is so good but its front and back glass is weak, and build quality is worse than xperia z. you must use it with a case. its camera is very good at night but, at sun samsung s4 and xperia z is better than htc one. and it has dead pixels at mine and my friends htc one.

It looks great and works great!

Phone owned for less than a month

Zoe easy to use, Boomsound is better than a few hundred dollars for small external speakers better, Blinkfeed is convenient.
Using Zoe, a few simple actions can make a movie. Ultrapixel works amazing and I can shot clear picture in the midnight!

Boomsound really loud enough, I can now cook in the kitchen and watch movies. Blinkfeed are a few handy, I hope HTC will have more partners later.

Except the above three best selling point of the new HTC one, I must promote both recording function! When I first tried zoe in a park, I meant to test the photo quality, but when I play back, I can hear the birds singing clearly!

The audio quality is really good because my friends said now I sound much louder on the phone (actually too loud :P)...

This is the phone to beat.

Phone owned for less than 3 months

Let me start out by saying I work in the cell phone sales industry so I play with all the latest phones everyday. I am a cell phone and general gadget geek. I have owned phones from nearly every manufacturer out there. It takes a LOT to impress me about a phone. This phone has done it post haste. I have had it for a month and everyday I find something new I love about it. The build quality is amazing. I wouldn't say it's completely "zero gap" as mine has a very slight barely noticeably gap on top, but it's close enough. The aluminum body is beautiful, sturdy, and scratches wipe right off. Gorilla Glass 3 was a brilliant addition, especially for those as clumsy as I am. I have dropped it several times and it still looks brand new. Blinkfeed is iffy with me.. I don't use it all the time but I have found myself scrolling through what would normally be 7 apps and a few websites in one go. As busy as my life is, I will say that's handy.

Call quality is amazing as well. My One X+ constantly dropped calls for no apparent reason. This has not. The earpiece is nice and loud, and those speakers... Wow. I am in love with the dual stereo Beats Audio equipped Boomsound speakers. Often, all I have to do to sell this phone is let them hear my playlist. I no longer need my little external iSound speaker when playing music on this bad boy. I can even hear it over the shower which is awesome on a cell phone. The music also doesn't sound tinny like on other devices that were initially intended for music playing *cough*apple*cough*. The screen is killer, so couple the amazing sound with the graphics on the music player and you have one seriously awesome music device. I use the music player on my One for hours on end and I don't lose battery the way my other phones have. The battery life on this has out done my previous phones including my iPhones, Samsungs, and Crackberries. I am considered a moderately heavy user and i can easily go 12 hours on one charge. I have gone 16 hours before on days I don't play candy crush.

I am also a photographer on the side. Because of this, the 4mp didn't scare me away. I love the ultrapixel camera. The sensor is ginormous compared to others, so lowlight shots are impressive. What can I say about Zoe? She's simply wonderful. No more blurry action shots. No more blinking or looking like the subject is about to sneeze. No more just-missed shots. Zoe takes the second before you actually hit the shutter button and 2 seconds after. This makes for so many options footagewise. The highlights are spectacular and I have already uploaded a few straight to Facebook with no editing needed.

I'll end by saying to HTC: Way to go. You set the standard and now the other big boys can catch up. :-)

Did we meet the perfection?

Phone owned for less than 3 months

The best Android phone since today. Full of useful and smart features that make you enjoy your phone a lot: HTC Zoe, Boomsound, Blinkfeed... Has good construction, fine feel on the hand and awesome screen. it's without any doubt the best under the sun. No other has a better bright. This makes the difference for me. Battery also is so good. Despite 2300 mhA it last all day without any problems, and you can use it hard that you don't feel like it's going to run out. The use of the phone is great, no lag at all and very smooth use in any circumstance.

BEST Phone of 2013!!

Phone owned for less than 3 months

i will preface by saying I have owned several other brands of smartphone from the first Razor to the Palm Pre, Droid, HTC Evo 4g and Iphone 4s and this phone impressed me above all predecessors. After owning this phone your Iphone will honestly seem like a childs phone compared to what the One can do. Beautiful design, great feel in your hand and when out in public you get all kinds of questions about the phone once people see it. BoomSound speakers are the best I've ever experienced on a cell phone. You will be shocked at how loud the speakers go as well as the fact they have actual bass lol. You may have heard complaints about Blinkfeed on the One but you will customize it and actually enjoy it trust me; and if you dont you can set the home screen to something else. Battery life is good considering how much this phone can do, the display is amazing, beautiful colors. Another cool feature is HTC Zoe software. Give this phone a shot, trust all the great reviews.

Simply awesome

Phone owned for less than a month

While I've only had this phone for a little over ac week, I can say it is an excellent phone. No lag whatsoever, extremely fluid and fast as I could ask for. The standout features to me are the speakers, the TV function, the screen, and the camera (kinda). The speakers are freaking loud and clear and blow any phone out the water (although the Lumia 920 is very good too). A great feature I wasn't expecting to utilize so much is the TV app. It's seriously awesome. It's much more pleasing and more user friendly to see the currently airing programs in this format than on your tv guide provider by the cable box. Cool feature. The screen is without a doubt one of the very best. Colors pop and the resolution is ridiculous. Ugh I sound kinda crazy about this phone but I havebt had any problems. Sometimes Sense can get in the way (especially coming from a Nexus) but the extra features make it for it, for the most part. Oh yeah, and the camera is nice. Very good outdoor shots and seem very detailed. Camera software features are nice too. However, it's not perfect. I know there'd an update that fixes some issues but sadly I have to wait for ATT to release it. I think it'll work out some of my kinks with the software. Overall, I think this is easily one of the top, if not THE TOP, phone on the market.

Awesome phone

Phone owned for less than a month

This is truly an awesome phone to have. I have had it for only few days, but the excitement from the day that I got it never ends and the phone really live up to the hype. Build quality is superb and with that rounded back, it's really nice to hold and feels premium. Stereo speakers are loud and very clear on whichever track I play.
BlinkFeed is helpful - it delivers news that you care about in one screen. UltraPixel camera is great, especially in low light. I just wish it had better megapixel count [perhaps 6mp?]. There are only few minor quirks with OS, otherwise, on software side, everything's great running Sense 5.

Camera software is premier in my eyes. Battery life is exceptional compared to other phones I've had.

The One

Phone owned for less than a month

This is definitely the best smartphone i've used to date. What's not to like? The screen is fantastic. I've actually gotten to like BlinkFeed alot. BoomSound is perfect. Everytime i watch random videos i used to always let people use my headphones, now u can just pretty much gather around and hear everything so clearly. But to me, the best feature of the phone is the Camera (Zoe,Share,Highlights,Videos). This camera is amazing. Zoe and HIghlights are what i think separates this phone from the rest of the crowd. Hopefully, there will be more various themes to come in the near future. Overall, i can't recommend this phone enough for you guys. You actually get that certain vibe that somehow is always missing with other smartphones. With the HTC One, you definitely get that lifestyle vibe because all the features blend so well with each other from reading emails first thing in the morning to watching highlights of the night out with friends. It's all about that HTC One Vibe

Amazing

Phone owned for less than 3 months

The HTC One is the BEST phone I have ever used. I've had numerous smartphones since I first got one.

The camera is the best camera I have ever seen in a phone. The pictures it takes in low light are great and the ones taken with proper lighting are amazing! If you are a shutterbug or love having a quality camera with you at all times, I highly recommend this phone.

The speakers on this phone blow away the sound quality on any phone, ever. Having two front facing, stereo speakers equipped with Beats audio is awesome. I can listen to music or videos pretty much anywhere and I am still able to hear everything crisply and clearly.

Let me tell you, videos and pictures have never looked better on a smart phone. With a full HD 1080p screen, your eyes will thank you for days and days.

I find Android phones relatively easy to use but with Sense 5, the experience just becomes insanely easy and awesome. Setting up Blink Feed and the HTC TV functions are super easy as well and they're easy to use.

This phone is the sexiest phone you've ever seen. The all metal construction is awesome and beautiful.

In summary, this phone is awesome and I highly recommend it.

A great phone that could have been perfect

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I've been an Android user since the G1 (also by HTC) on T-Mobile, and despite this being my third HTC phone, the HTC One is my first phone that doesn’t run stock/vanilla Android. After over a month of use, my view of the phone is that it’s a beautiful phone that could have been perfect save for some faults and quirks.

The hardware is phenomenal and has several innovative designs (camera, speakers), but the design makes it difficult to hold at times. For day to day use, the phone is fast and smooth. But there are moment where Sense gets in the way, and it can feel frustrating to use then. Unless you have the Sprint version, Google Wallet will not work on this phone (it will install but will not work), so if you want to pay by NFC (and are in one of the two test markets), you need to use Isis.

At the end of the day, I really do enjoy using this phone, but I often find myself feeling like it’s a few steps short of excellence. Some days I want to go back to my Nexus 4; other days, I can’t imagine giving up the HTC One and its new features. For a regular/new smartphone user, I think this phone would be perfect for them. For someone who is more of an Android enthusiast, it may not be quite as perfect, but I think that this is the best Android device out there right now, save for possibly a Nexus.

Breath of Fresh Air

Phone owned for less than a month

The HTC One provides a breathe of fesh air compared to other current smartphones. With its all metal body, it feels great in the hand and provides you with a premium feeling that you don't find in most flagship phones. The display is vibrant and the colors pop out, something that can only be fully experienced if you see it in person. The camera is also another great feature as the new HTC Zoe provides you with features that can remove people in the background, catch the perfect picture by correcting anyone who isn't smiling, or combine multiple action shots into one photo. The ultra-pixel camera allows for better pictures all around especially for low-light conditions. HTC Blinkfeed is another great feature that I enjoy. Before, I was not able to keep up to date with current events going on around the world. Now, it is displayed right on my homescreen and it is easy to flip through the different articles to find one that most interests me. Lastly, Boomsound is amazing! It provides you with a stereo experience and the sound is crisp, loud, and clear.

A look into the One

Phone owned for less than 3 months

Let's start out on the way the device looks. As soon as you open your box you will be absolutely blown away with the sexy look and quality build of the device. Htc has added in HTC Sync Manager with this installed you can very easily have your Messages, Bookmarks, Contacts, photos and more transferred from your old device to the HTC One. The screen is amazingly gorgeous and stunning, the 1080p screen is easily the best screen out there to date (468ppi). Htc has also made Sense which is an interface to the phone lighter than usual BUT still a very useful tool for those who are deep into tech and even those that have trouble using a smartphone. Blink-feed has also been added to this addition of Sense. It is a crafty and elegant News-feed, Social Media and other interests all bundled into a scrollable feed. It saves time and makes finding what you need nice and easy all in one place and always at your fingertips. Another wonderful addition has been the implementation of the second front facing speaker. This device is the loudest device I have ever owned but its quality sound being produced here. If you like listening to music then this is the device for you, not to mention HTC has thrown in a pair of ear buds in the box to enjoy as well. Another key feature added is Zoe. Have you ever tried to take a pic of a moving object such as a baby, pet etc and ended up with a blurry photo???? Well good news those days are long gone with Zoe you can record a 20 second clip and then extract the exact moment you want as a photo. The camera also excels in low light and does all the tricks you may see other devices showing in their commercials such as combining many photos into one action photo. A camera feature that I find very useful is highlights, if you take many photos on one particular date the HTC One will blended them into a short video with music sort of like at the end of a wedding video, so you get to see an entire eventful day in a sharable highlight reel. The overall feel of the phone is just smooth scrolling all day no lag to worry about. Battery wise you guessed it HTC has also improved it on this device. I easily get 12-16 hours and Im what I consider to be a heavy user. All in All this device is top notch in quality and usefulness for the end user. I highly recommend you buy one because after all only one can be the One.
