build quality is surprisingly really good! i mean this phone can be the Nokia 3310 of year 2014.
Camera produces really good pics but more pixels might have been better.......................enough!
Usually I hardly ever give feedback to anything unless I'm super satisfied with the product or very unsatisfied, actually I have never been super satisfied with any products that I bought but today I realised that the only product that I have been super satisfied in my life is my legendary HTC One m8 which I have been using it very heavy on a daily basis for 3 years and this thing gives me nothing but excellent performance and by far greatest experience of my life amongst all the things that I have ever bought, this phone has never given me any problems at all during this 3 years and not even a frozen screen and it still performs excellent just like the first day when I bought it despite using a 64gb micro SD card after the first few months of using it and this astonishing device looks like it will last me a decade or so. Thank you HTC for making such an excellent phone in fact the best phone of all times.
after 9 months of usage i could say it's still the beast when it comes to performance, specially after it was updated to marshmallow. no hiccups even with extensive and heavy usage, but heats up pretty quick though. camera could be a bummer to some, but for me, who mostly uses pictures for viewing and social media purposes, its okay. solid-sounding speakers, nice and shiny body (own a Gold one) but kinda slippery. it could still fight with the latest flagships out there. and if i were to choose what phone am i going to use, a newer flagship or this, i'd still pick this.
I was in love with everything about this phone except the camera. After a year and a half, I love it far less. The camera has never met my standards in any way. The front facing camera makes me look fat--it's designed for groups or something, and it tends to make the center of the picture skinny and the edges enormous, like it's reverse-magnified. Terrible.
The build is gorgeous, but beware--after a year and a half of regular use, always in a case, the once-beautiful metal gleam has been destroyed by dust that gets in the case and scrapes the metal. It now looks like it was peppered with miniature shotguns, and at no fault of my own. I've never been rough on the phone. I've dropped it a total of one times since I bought it, and never on any hard surface (never outside).
The charging port has become loose and I have to fix it. And the battery lasts about 3 hours nowadays.
Overall, it's served its purpose. But I'm very ready to move on.
It is a best Smartphone I have ever used .. Excellent build quality and deisgn and feels premium in hands.
UI is very user-friendly gives ultra smooth performance.
Boomsound gives Best quality sound
Eye-catching display.
Slow charging time, can be fixed with rapid charger. Except that, everything is superb. Great speakers, great camera and amazing screen. One of the best designed phones. Patiently waiting for Marshmallow update and Htc Sense 7.0 UI.
This is an amazing phone, even after a year of use.
Build quality is superb
Reception is great, although not perfect. There are dead zones, but this phone does do well with receptions vs my previous phone (The google nexus.) Technology has improved, and even though the one m9 is out among other latest and greatest 2015 smartphones, this phone still stands the test of time.
Call quality is amazing
Internet is smooth and quick
Multimedia: This is AWESOME! Have you heard these speakers? Even though the One m9 is out, this phone still rocks some EPIC sounding speakers. Crisp highs, Perfect mids, and even bass is still prevalent in these front facing speakers. Awesome!
Camera is great, ultrapixel duo camera should be revived for the m10. I was disappointed when htc got rid of the ultrapixel backfacing duo camera in the m9. Just add an ultrapixel setup to m10, and have like 20.7 duo ultrapixel camera. Now that would be a game changer. Also, the lowlighting is better compared to the one m9. But the one m9 does have a higher megapixel camera. This just shows that megapixels aren't everything.
UI SPEED: Everything is quick and smooth, no matter the workload!
Everyday usage: Can't complain! This thing rocks, and it isn't getting any slower as time progresses.
Text input: Smooth and precise. Still awesome.
Display: Although it isn't quadHD or 4k, most videos on youtube are STILL just 1080p. I don't believe that the increase in pixels is worth the performance drain in other rival smartphones. This still has a great display! Even the one m9 kept the exact display specs as the One m8 did.
Battery: Since I have had one issue with charging with my phone, the battery gets an 8/10.
It could be better. But it still lasts all day when the phone is working right! Normally you do not have to worry about having to charge the phone more than once a day. Hopefully One m10 or One O2 hears the critiques of the one m9, and blows the battery life out of the water in 2016.
Overall, this phone still rocks even after a year. I am very satisfied with it. Of course it isn't perfect, nor is any smartphone, but I believe that this phone truly stands the test of time. Can't wait to see what the Htc's 2016 flagship m10 has in store!
Been using the m8 since November 2014 and its been the best phone I've ever used, I previously used a Note but this is just miles better. If you're willing to look away from specs and just want sheer quality and a reliable phone that just does the task, look no further.
Excellent overall phone. Beautifull, battery life more than 20 hours daily and great customization in any way. 100% configuration on any aspect. Volume, Notifications, Profile modes, Security, syncronization, etc. Perfect size for me (5.0), more than enought.
Everything was excellent, and it was even better after upgrading to Android 5.0.2. There is no lag and it is really responsive. I can even use this phone for two days without charging it. Other than the camera resolution, this phone was perfect.
I should start by saying that, the design and the ergonomics of this phone are amazing.
It fits just right in the hand, but I must admit that sometimes the top left edge is hard to reach, but we hardly use that region anyway.
The screen and pixel density is so high that your eyes get accustomed to HD quality for everything.
The reception is great and my calls have never been dropped even though I live in a poor reception area.
The internet is very fast, LTE is very efficient for VOIP calls, and downloading content.
Multimedia and the camera is also good, except the camera at times has problems with exposure, as some parts of the image is overexposed. But generally, I have not had any problem with the camera quality.
BlinkFeed, if customized, is really useful. It's just one swipe away from your home screen. I usually update it in the morning via WiFi and will read the content, whenever I have time and even if I'm in a no WiFi area, the content will already be downloaded and temporarily stored for me to read.
So now I simply cannot live without BlinkFeed.
Sense 6 is also very nice as you can check the weather and everything is simple and not complex. Usually, on a phone like Samsung, I would download a launcher and customize it myself to my own liking. But HTC's Sense, does not require me to do such a thing.
The keyboard has not been an issue, as its prediction and accuracy is quite good and I have been typing efficiently. On lazy days, I have used the "Swype like" function that the HTC default keyboard has provided, and I have found that it is not bad at all.
The battery, generally lets me use it for a full day and has not given me a problem.
I use it about 8 hours of active usage a day (gaming, emails, messaging, surfing the net, listening to music) and will put the phone on charge just before I go to bed.
BoomSound gives me the pleasure of listening to quality music through propper speakers provided by the M8, as in the past, the sounds from my other phones used to be rubbish and cheap, and I would always use earphones instead of my speakers, but I really hate doing this as I know that I am damaging my eardrums this way.
With Motion Launch, I wake the phone with 2 touches, so I don't even require the power button, and I lock the screen with a "LockScreen" app, which is a shortcut located on my homescreen.
I am glad the power button is on top, as it is out of the way, and even if I want to use it, it is easy to press the button and just slip the phone into your pocket.
The only problem I have, is that Motion Launch only works when your phone is at an angle, and not when your phone is flat on top of a table, but I can still live with it, since everyone else has to push their power button anyway.
Overall, this phone is the best phone ever, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Had it for 8 months, still working perfectly just like new. Battery life is excellent easily lasting days of heavier use (by my standards). Both cameras are very good with the only issue on the back being the lower resolution. The rest of the phone easily compensates for this is my opinion!
Great build, great speed, HTC User Interface is smooth, and the phone just looks gorgeous. Sense 6 is a great but a little lacking in customization in my opinion. Looking forward to Sense 7 and Lollipop update
This phone has everything. don't be fooled by Apple. Android gives you customize ability and doesn't force you to use only apple services. HTC has always delivered exceptional products. This is the third time I'm buying HTC phone. go for it, eyes closed.
I love this phone it's the best phone period. It doesn't Lag and the speakers are loud and clear. The rear camera isn't perfect bit it fits my needs, it sounds bad... i mean 4 megapixels? But it really isn't. The phone is really cool and it has a beautiful design. The batery life is ok i can get 5 hours from 100 to 50-60%. I can use it all day and it will still have 40%. This perfect, it's Worth every penny and no phone is better than this beast trust me. Just try it out and watch!
It's important to always be the logical choice, not the most strong one. M8 is for people who wants to have prestigious design with upper build quality, flawless UI with minimalist style (not too capable to be complicated but to have the potential if anyone wants), to have the right size of high quality screen with standard resolution of these years (not to big to carry and to touch but also big enough to choose to check your social media or see your favorite YouTube movie on your phone instead of your tablet, laptop or desktop), to take colorful photos at enough resolution for using overall your digital world (no one will use more than one device at 1440p in 1 to 2 years), to make your calls at standard reception quality what these days brings on and to have 1 to 2 days of battery life like 80% of smartphone users have. More is not enough in every aspect of this trends but important is to take 100% from your device and look if anything is being absent in your mind after that.
Blinkfeed, the built-in software consistently shows the highest battery usage (over all time, or any other time period) even after removing the Blinkfeed panel. You cannot disable this software.
Even on days when I watch video (1-2 hours), Blinkfeed is still the leading battery-drainer.
If you use you your phone for calls, video, and internet during the day, consider a Droid Turbo or something with better battery.
When I was deciding which phone to buy I was considering Xperia Z2 because I have heard that camera of Z2 is much better than any other phone but I selected this piece of art because of its build quality, and after I have bought it I can say that the camera of Z2 is slightly better than M8 not much better. From camera to sound , clarity of voice to accurate touch , Believe me when I say each and every thing is awesome in this phone.. i am very very happy user of this phone thanks Htc and thanks phone arena as well for providing me oppurtunity to present my review about Htc one M8..
it is awesome with a lot strong feature like it is fast, very fast, awesome speakers nice line out music quality and volume. i even like the camera as well cause i think this megapixel hype is overrated since you wont go to take serious pics with a mobile, it is for instagram and facebook, but this dual camera features are quite fun, the focus speed could be better and this weird layer on the camera lens which is easily scraching is bizarr but you can remove it with a cotton tip and some toothpaste in 10 min accordng to a highly appretiated youtube video. funny. so the big BUT is the speakers. it sound awesome and facing to you even sound more clear and louder but here is the BIG BUT: when you make a VOIP call and hold the phone into your ear and you have a gsm call and this speaker is ringing directly to your ear from that close it is not so pleasent and you tend to think HTC should think this concept more carefully, there should be a safety software wall to ring only the bottom speaker when the proximity sensor sense you or always maybe... anyway however this is a serious issue the phone is great. sometimes not to often miss my first touch my first letter but it can be the third party keyboard issue as well . i dont feel the speaker that clear and loud under a normal phonecall like it was for example the lumia 1520, but, after all i really really like it as an everyday mate.
I'm rocking 2 phones the M8 and Note 4 Octa core and to be honest M8 better than Note 4 except the keyboard and camera. Yeah know that Note 4 has quad HD SupeSuAMOLED but M8 1080p has better brghtiness and better white that really looks white not pinikish like Super AMOLED , don't get me wrong I stiIl prefer Note 4 in some area like keyboard and camera.
im a phone expert worked with many phones (s5 , iphone 5s/6, note 4 , g2 g3 ) nothing comes close to this and the main reason is the design and build quality ! this phone makes every other phone feel like trash ! the ui speed is as fast as it can get it will never lag and it will get the tasks u want done , the screen is fantastic (there is not much of a difference between QHD and 1080p and the performance sacrifice isn't worth it , the camera (which is a hot argument ) is good enough for a phone if u are a person that takes photos on the go without cropping and zooming more than 2 times then this camera is good , if u want the best in photography look somewhere else , the macro shots are great , the speakers are the best on the market , battery life is good enough , around 6-7 hours of screen on time and if will last u more than a day with medium/ heavy use .
All I can say is right now , this is the complete phone , it does everything in a good way and some in a fantastic way , you can never go bad with this , I had enough savings to go for a note 4 or an iphone 6 but I got the one m8 and I don't regret it
I bought the HTC One M8 Harman Kardon Edition a few months ago when I signed up with Sprint. I owned a Samsung S5 previously, and the build on the One M8 is by far better. It feels like a quality item, with good weight and nice materials. My only "complaints" would be the phone is quite slippery without a case, but that is minor in my opinion. Also, the stock charging cable is quite short. It made me feel like I bought an Apple product. Again, not too big of a deal. I love the speakers, as they are plenty loud enough to watch a video or listen to music without having to cup your hand awkwardly as you would if the speaker was on the back of the phone (like the S5). The display is great as well. I use the phone outdoors often in direct sunlight with no issues. Pictures, videos and such display in great colors like you would expect from a high end smart phone. I also use a Zagg tempered glass screen protector on my phone for extra protection from scratches and it works great without any degredation of screen viewing quality. I am not a camera pro by any stretch of the imagination, but it has been sufficient for me to use here and there. If you are an avid photgrapher I would imagine you own a DSLR and don't solely rely on your phone for taking pictures. Overall, I would say the M8 is pretty close to perfect. I think the only thing I would change is the fact that the battery isn't removable. I definitely recommend this phone to anyone who might be on the fence about buying it.
I love this phone soooo much I've had the iPhone 5s and this is by far the better device I never knew how cool android was and how it does more. One thing I wish was a tad better was battery life I mean who doesn't won't more battery life now days but the battery is good though gets me thru a day easily. Well that's about it the phone is great in everyway even the camera is good even though phonearena disagrees.
This is a beautifully built phone that offers all of the advanced technology and smooth operation of the HTC One M8 combined with the supreme sound technology of Harman Kardon audio. I truly believe this phone has the best overall audio on the market right now. The front facing speakers are very loud yet still contain much depth and clarity, and Clari-Fi and LiveStage make the headphone listening incredible. It is a must have if you are an intense music listener.
I have this phone right now, waiting to get a Note 4. My experience was great, having an aluminum unibody design, it could've beat the S5 (the HTC M8x and the Butterfly 2 did, so get the M8x) S-LCD screen bests the Retina screen on the iPhone 5S and the GS5. Camera needs more megapixels though. Speakers were GREAT.
