I just got my HTC Hero last week. Got it for 22k INR. I was happy to get hold of HTC coz i did not not take up the risk of unlocking as did in Apple iphones. And an iphone is 35k in India.

not bad, but

Phone owned for

I like the phone, but it does seem to drop more calls than my last old school, phone.  I'm on the same network, so I can only assume it is the phone.  my old phone had an antenna that could extend, maybe that is why it dropped less calls.

Hero review after 2 month usage

Phone owned for

Hero is a phone you will quickly get attached to and knows how to draw the attention of you and the people around you. With it's design, interface and overall functionality, it's a real keeper. However, the phone does get a bit laggy when going to the music player or when playing high resolution video.(this may be because i have a 8gb sd card instead of the 2gb that was in the box, then again this should make no difference..)Typing on the hero is easy, thanks to the very responsive touchscreen and despite the fact that the screen is just 3.2inch i find it verry pleasant to work it. The keyboard does take a second or 2 to rotate to landscape.Pictures must be taken with a steady hand because they are often blurry and to make things even harder.. you have to use the trackball to take the picture..The battery life is excellent for a touchscreen phone and crushes the samsung star or lg cookie, even though it has a higher processing power. (personal experience)Also handy is the trackbal that lights up or "glows" when something happened. On top of the device there is a small light then flashes red when your battery is empty.Overall the hero is a all in one device that offers a great and intuitive interface but can sometimes be a bit slow. Then again it's hardly worth mentioning, since other touchscreen phones are in most cases far slower...

This phone does not only have great looks but also works! After updating the firmwire (as some problems were reported with the previous version), it moves lighting fast! The Android is a trully great experience with ultimate customisability. The Android marker keeps growing and you can download nice applications even though it is still in embryo stage, compared to the Apple market for the i-phone. I did not face any problems so far with my hero, the battery life is decent with normal use, even though a few more mAhs could be useful, and the sound quality during calls and with the music player is excellent. Although you can take some really good photos with the 5mp camera during the day, the quality of the photos during night is poor and there is no flash support. Also, the white version feels good in the hand with the teflon coating, and there is no fear of slipping off your hand - I had experienced some major slip-offs with my HTC HD!Overall, it is a great phone and I just love it! It makes you feel unique among iphoners who buy a phone just because they were brain washed by the apple company. HTC Hero is a true hero in your hero in your hands!

Im actually the same person from last comment. After I left the cm saying that my Hero is starting to lag, I decided to clean up my phone and deleted most of the texts. Turns out this solved the problem! but now I remember something else thats not very good about the hero...- it takes slightly too long to be turned on- the alarm does not ring if the phone is off  (??! I can't believe it. All of my old phones can do that so I dont know if thats my problem or htc's)Anyway, I still LOVE my phone.

LOVE MY HERO

Phone owned for

I listed all the pros and cons below. Overall, I LOVE MY HTC HERO! I went to a store, and the guy actually recommended the iPhone or Nokia over the Hero because he says HTC is "hard to use". But, heck, I am not stupid. It's just a phone, designed by people who try to make it as user-friendly as possible. Although I wasn't used to it at first, I actually liked to experiment with my phone, and discover some cool new features everyday.

HtC HERO

Phone owned for

HTC HERO is absolutely outstanding....maybe with a bit lag with the shipping rom....but HTC has come up with rom update and it works very well.. alot faster....and very responsive..

HTC has come up with sense ui which make this phone is insanely customizable with 7 different home screen and HTC widget which far more better looking than android widget, which i wish could be more widget available.
social networking embed to the phone such as facebook integration (from the HTC not facebook apps) which allow you to update status, and looking at your friends update, photos. it also have twitter account integration and flicker.
cant really describe the good things about the HERO, you have to experience it yourself.

this is one of the best competitive smart phones released to date. it has all the usual additions expected for a high end smartphone including a 3.2 inch capactive touch screen, GPS, proximity sendors and 3.5mm headphone jack. thie phone comes both in a black or white variant. it is the first phone to run android with a HTC modified 'sense' UI that enhances the experience. any questions you have on the device contact me on genesis09@live.com.au
