HTC DROID ERIS User Reviews

I moved to the Droid Eris from the Samsung Omnia. I was waiting for an Android handset from Verizon. The Droid looks good, and specs out better, but didn't feel as natural and comfortable to me. The Eris has the best feel and with the Sense UI, it's just smooth and easy to use.

Within an hour of actually starting to play with the Eris, I had Pandora, Slacker, and Last.fm streaming radios installed. I had all of my email and contacts Synced from Gmail. I also had learned that the google maps integration is just awesome.

The other thing that amazed me was the data speeds. I'm getting 1.2Mbps average at home, where I never peaked much above 600 kbps before.

There is an ever so slight lag in opening programs, but it's livable. And the battery life, as expected, isn't the best, but is also livable. The worst thing about the Eris is that now I'm in the dog house. My fiancee is upset, because she can't upgrade her Omnia until next November.

Shame Verizon doesn't advertise this bad boy more...

This phone is being over looked by all the hype surrounding the Droid. Dont get me wrong the Droid is a nice device, but this is about the Eris. I have found this phone to be very capable for everyday use. I love the customization available and htc has that down pat. The 7 homescreens puts everything i need on a daily basis at my finger tips and the widgets are very practical. The only issue i have with the phone is the lack of the donut update however it does not take away from the phones funtionality other than not being able to use the google voice guided gps. The Eris is small, light and durable. Touchscreen is very responsive and call clarity is great. Android operating system is fantastic. I love my blackberry devices, but the android has won me over and i love the customization that is simply not available on the blackberry. All in all the Eris is a great device that works and works well.

This is my first smart phone.  I am very pleased. The graphics and applications are so cool. You can pretty much personalize everthing. Battery life is poor but for now I just have to change my charging habits. I strongly suggest bookmarking the manual on verizon site. There is so much to learn about the phone that the 250+page online manual will help. Verizon tech support has been very helpful as well. The phone was new to them so we were kinda troubleshooting together.  I have had the phone a couple weeks and am still learning new things it does..You really need to practice using the touch pad as it is so easy to accidently call some one or switch screens when you finger accidently touches a spot.Call clarity and sound volume is great. Much louder than my previous Samsungs, LG's etc.Internet connections are really fast. I get an email notice on my phone before I receive a notice on my computer.I have no problem with the camera. I takes good pics for a phone  in my opinion.All in all I have had no serious issues with the phone. It does have the 1.5 but I keep reading there are going to be upgrades coming up. Rumor has it the first one is mid Dec.

I have had this phone for about 3 days and as of right now I love this phone. This is my first smartphone and its so easy to navigate and figure out. The camera quality is awesome although there is no flash option but the quality of the picture is almost better than an ordinary digital camera.  There are so many different choices of applications. Tons of fun games and helful fun apps. There are thousands of free apps. The 7 home screens make things really easy to find  fast and you know there is always space. I was a little worried about the rolling ball but that is a neat part of the phone. The phone has a sleep  mode so if you recieve email or text messages the ball lights up instead of the screen on the phone lighting up. This phone is really hard to unlock from a purse or pocket , my old phone was a touch phone and it would unlock in my purse and make phonecalls. I don't even use my computer much anymore because this phone can do pretty much everything my computer can do.  Compared to the i phone this is a lot easier to learn and you can even send picture messages unlike the i phone. I am so happy verizon came out with this phone. I cant wait til 2.0 comes out.

Been waiting 2 years for Big Red to deliver a premium device. Ported out for 17 days to an iphone, only to discover that Gayt&T is beyond horrible. My wait was worth it. As a "casual" user of apps (Music, news, games), I LOVE this phone. ONLY thing missing is a desktop store for Android and amazon mp3 store for my PC (ala itunes). If Android can get those running, the Jesus Phone will finally have SERIOUS competition, as that interface is the only leg up as far as user-friendliness is concerned.

For the device itself, I love the 7 screens. The camera is MUCH better than the reviews say it is. The video quality is spotty on You Tube, etc. But I'm VERY confident that this device will have Android 2.0 and Flash early next year. For a $100 price point, this phone is the cell phone equivalent of robbing a bank. It's THAT awesome.

As a long-time supporter of old-school "dumbphones" (A PHONE should make CALLS and do it well, I don't need anything else), this was my first smart phone. Wanted to stick with Verizon and was going back and forth between the Moto DROID, the ERIS, and the Storm2. After checking all three out, I ended up with the ERIS because it was compact, felt well-built, did all of the things I wanted (email, make calls with excellent sound quality, and visit websites), would be getting Android 2.0 eventually, and was an absolute steal at $50 after my New Every 2 discount. The DROID felt too heavy and after testing the hard keyboard, I realized that it would be just as easy to get used to a soft keyboard as it would to fumble around with the practically virtual keyboard on the Moto. Also, I did not like the lack of multitouch. Though the sheer power of it made me second guess my choice for a few moments. It's been almost a week and I am very pleased with the UI, range of features, and performance over both the VZW network and even more so when connected to WiFi. Aside from some annoying lag when pressing any of the four capacitive buttons and battery life that needs to be about 2 hours longer, I am overwhelmingly happy with my decision.
