Build Quality:
The Nexus 5 has a great design for what you pay for, but lets get nitpicky.
The Back and sides of the Black variant uses a very nice Soft Touch Plastic Material that is nice to hold and give you something to grip.
I expected the sides and the back to be a unified, but unfortunately the sides and back are separate and it looks like it would easily pop off if dropped at the right angle and height.
The power button and volume rocker have a very tactile feel to them giving you a sense of quality, which is nice to see because the last thing you want are squishy buttons.
The overall look of the phone is very clean, or understated which I personally really like, but some others prefer a more unique design such as the HTC One.
It's also a very Flat phones, besides the slight curves on the sides.
Reception:
There isn't much to say about the reception, It's just great. the plastic doesn't interfere with signals which is nice unlike some other Aluminum unibody designs.
Call Quality:
The earpiece's sound quality is pretty good, with crisp and clear audio.
The microphone was actually Outstanding in my opinion, the BEST I've used in any smartphone so far, very Crisp and clear audio as well.
Internet:
Internet isn't the best subtopic because it depends on alot of factors, such as your current location, your ISP, Etc...
Multimedia:
In terms of Multimedia, It's very good, with the help of the display, videos look amazing without any studder.
but I had to lower the score by 2 points because there's one problem.
The speakers are outright bad. It has a crackly and tinny sound to it.
Also you would think that the Nexus 5 has 2 speakers, but NO it has single speaker which really sucks because you can accidentally cover the speaker and completely mute the sound
Camera:
The Camera is a 8mp shooter which isn't bad, but what's different is it's Optical Image Stabilization.
In good light, photos look nice with accurate and detailed images, but I can't say the same about Low light performance.
Another Problem is the software which is very slow and inconvenient, but this can easily be fixed with an update.
Where it shines though, is the Video it produces.
Movement is smooth thanks to OIS and the excellent helps make it look like it was shot with something else rather than a Smartphone.
Overall it's much better than it's predecessors Camera and is more than capable for sharing photos through social networks.
UI Speed:
Android is snappier and more fluid than ever before thanks to 4.4 KitKat's optimization, Project Butter and the hardware the Nexus 5 boasts.
For the time the Nexus 5 is the only device running Android 4.4 KitKat which brings a few great features. To name a few, the hollow blue was replaced with a clean white and Google claims that Kitkat will run well on devices that have as low as 512MBs of Ram.
I'm out of room, sorry.
I have owned this phone for about a week so far, and it is a MAJOR upgrade to my Nexus 4 in every way! Everything is perfect, except for the camera. The camera is still fantastic, but it does not compare to the $700 smart phones. However, for half the price it is more than good.
So after being stuck with Verizon for two years I'm finally free and ready to switch. My phone of choice was the Nexus 5. I desired a high end android phone for a mid-range price. With a Snapdragon 800 and 2GB of RAM plus Android Kit Kat this smartphone is buttery smooth.
This is the best phone for the budget minded techie. Tie that with the T-Mobile $30 plan and you have a winner. The phone cost $349 from Google Play
You're buying a stock Android experience with the latest updates from Google.
The phone is responsive and actually has decent battery life.
The Nexus doesn't have front button, which adds to the sleekness of the device.
The only downer about the phone is accessories.
it's a very good phone, sadly not perfect, the screen is good and the perfomance too, but the batterie is only 2300 mah, so i must charge it everynight, for the camera I don't know why but it can be blurry when we take a picture, maybe an update will fix that (I hope)
On one side, we’re absolutely thankful that 4G LTE connectivity is in tow this time, but on the other hand, it might be the culprit to its underwhelming battery performance. Stuffed with a 2300 mAh battery, its output ranges between 8 to 12 hours with our heavy usage. And that’s about it folks! Therefore, it’s something that requires constant charging if you really need to use it a lot before calling it in for the day.
excellent device with great performance I think the camera not so bad but I think the camera could have been better maybe google can fix it with the next software update the 5-inch display is great as well
kitkat make the nexus 5 even more quickly
The cell has all the goodies in one package out to hit its rivals and emerge out at the top. The elegent look of it woos u away to buy this beast. Call it the Captain America of smartphones. Starting from the design u end up having all the good things together... the two bad points come out at the end of the list but cannot be ignored as they are important but once again keeping the price in mind everything is good at this price whereas its rivals are far too expensive.. buy it and u will love it.
The nexus 5 is a nice phone for it price but unfortunately not the best as I have hoped. It still lags behind the likes of lg g2 or even the HTC one in some aspects ..if u want thebest android phone that is great at almost everything then nexus 5 is not for u.
The build quality is great. It feels really good holding in hand. Perfect reception (had no problem till now). Excellent Call quality, Internet and multimedia are great. Camera not that good!!(unfortunately). UI very nice and handy. Usage feels great, Text input is super easy. Marvelous display and I say still good in outdoor usage. The battery is the other problem. Discharges quickly. :(
Let's face it.
Reason why you buy Nexus devices are
1. Cheap Price
2. Stock Android
3. Latest Android version installed and updates to follow
Nexus 5 ticks all those boxes.
Design actually takes a step back from Nexus 4.
Battery is a disappointment even if I'm not a heavy user.
Having said that, Android 4.4 is very pleasing.
It's noticeably faster than Jelly Bean and I haven't faced a lagging moment so far.
Web browsing is pleasant whether I'm on T-Mo LTE or WiFi.
Screen is much better obviously compared to Nexus 4.
Camera might not be the best in the market, but it gets the job done, and it's a legit upgrade from Nexus 4 as well.
I received the nexus 5 a few days ago and boy was i excited. I opened the box and the feel/ build quality is pretty solid. It doesn't feel like it would slip out of my hands and the size is big but still fits in my hands. The ui is crazy fast with the snapdragon 800 and 2GB of ram. Android 4.4 is a great update from jelly bean. Google Now is substantially better and the new look and feel is nice. The battery is not Galaxy Note 3 or LG G2 quality but, the battery last me a full day with moderate use (internet browsing, some videos, instagram). Its not the best battery but will last you a good bit. The camera is a good update from the nexus 4 and ois is a good addition to video recording (i record videos a lot). The quality is on par with the S4 and the iPhone 5S but nearly not as good as the G2's camera. Overall it is a amazing phone for its price and sacrifces some things for the price mostly camera and battery.
EDIT: After toying with the camera more, its quality is good, 90% of the time. Battery is still the same but screen time with low usage is about 1 hr better than moderate use for me.
I think this phone got so much hype. I payed extra 50 bucks to own it on the first day, yet it was not worth it. It's nothing different from android. Its still the same, we need a refresh something better than Apple's refresh. Come on Google this phone is average and not super. You must have learned from the Nexus 4 more.
