The most excited I have ever been with a new phone (with some caveats)

Phone owned for less than 3 months

Although Blackberry as a company has not been doing wonderfully with its sales, the phone and operating system they introduced to the world this January is really a stellar product that seems to, unfortunately be poised to be ignored by the public masses. BB10 is a very snappy, intuitive and free-flowing OS that makes good use of a wide variety of swiping gestures, multitasking and compatibility with the internet that makes it such a joy to use, as opposed to the occasionally bug-ridden Android software or the restricted and "cramped" feeling of iOS.

Apps run as active frames and continue what they are doing in the background, and pages render generally flawlessly, Flash and all on the browser. The Hub is the main selling feature of the OS, and is an excellent tool which allows users to quickly access and respond to notifications from a whole host of apps, from email accounts to Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Whatsapp and Line notifications... all of this being integrated into one screen for ease of use. No more going into each app to check for updates! The lockscreen is also quite a pleasure to use, being able to easily access and view the latest notifications.

Apps are the main drawback for the operating system, but it really isn't the lack of apps itself as far as the end user is concerned - it's the process required to install the apps. Android apps - from Instagram, to most Google services, to Netflix, Snapchat, Pinteret, Vine etc. are readily available for download to sideload onto the Z10 and I have been running these apps for a couple of months now. The process itself is very easy and only requires Google Chrome and a few minutes of time, but the issue is that most people would like the flexibility of downloading and installing apps at anytime, while this process requires you to have a Laptop or a Desktop on hand. With the Z10, you gain a smooth, powerful multitasking operating system with an excellent hub notification system, but lose out on the convenience of just popping into Google Play or the App Store and downloading an app at whim.

Z10 is very impressve!

Phone owned for less than a year

This is a very impressive mobile computing device! For a brand new OS, this is something to forward to; smooth, responsive, intuitive and nicely built! Though there are kinks and bugs to be ironed out in the software; none are discouraging. Some did suffer from random reboot issue, but that has already been resolved through updates. Every update received so far has made nice improvements and optimizations. Z10 hardware is very good, slick and modern yet professional; not cheap feeling and no back glass to crack. Very nice in the hand and back texture makes for good grip. The Z10 keyboard is probably the best virtual keyboard on the market. The HDMI out makes for great fun and professional multimedia experience. Some features: Time Shift camera, remote file access to your PC via BB Link, DLNA, HUB, Remember, multitasking… So many great features you can read up on and I cannot justify writing here.

The New BB Z10 is not just a hype!

Phone owned for less than a year

What I love about the new BB is that I’m not just paying for a name brand, my previous phone, needless to say was an iPhone.
Like everyone else, I fell for the name brand hype, with its proprietary ecosystem and with no expandability.
The camera on the Z10 could be better, but the fact of the matter is that I did not by the phone for the camera.
As for the CPU, I was a little disappointed that BB did not go with a quad core CPU, from a business perspective it makes sense, why go with a much more expensive CPU without knowing if the new phone will be received with wide acceptance.
Now the software I do like, very responsive and the HUB, just simplifies life, from a single location I can quickly stay update with my emails and social network media.
The music player is great, with one exception that streaming music to WIFI enabled speakers causes app to crash.
The browser works good for basic use, but if you need to browse through large number of post, it just does not seem to be able to handle large amounts of data.
I would have preferred BB allowed alternate browser apps to be used, this way if ran into any problems, I could have just installed Firefox.
Like all other devices, they all have their flaws, but considering this is BB’s first attempt at releasing a device under the platform.
I think they did a phenomenal Job in merging both ecosystems and coming out with a solid and reliable product.

BBZ10 First Impresion

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I've owned previous BB's and this one by far is the best, the new interface is user friendly, yet gives you the power to multitask with ease. I fell in Love with the HUB, how it allows you view all your user connectivity data from one single location.
The interface is very fluid, allowing you to quickly get to your apps.
Overall I think BB has done a great job combining hardware and software to provide a great user experience.

I'm pleased with my choice!

Phone owned for less than 3 months

I chose the Z10 as my first smartphone because it appealed to my desire for an all-touch, non-tablet sized, secure and capable smartphone that would last for the length of my contract. I couldn't be happier with the Z10. It multi-tasks very well and with 2gb of RAM, it can handle the load of having multiple apps or windows open.
The build quality is tight. Nothing is out of place or loose. The amount of available memory is AWESOME! 80gb with a 64gb microSD card. The Hub is a great feature for those who want to see who just contacted you through any social site, email or called. The size of the phone is not intrusive. Calls sound great and with BBM (now Pin), I can message anyone with a BB via text or video. The virtual keyboard is absolutely the best.
Also, BB's are able to sideload Android apps that have been programmed for BB. There are quite a few of these and the list keeps growing. So, if you don't see it in BB World, you can most likely get via sideloading.
The battery is ok. It's getting better with the software updates BB keeps putting out. The camera is quite good, as well. It's a phone with a camera. Not the other way around. To expect a phone to take studio quality pics is ridiculous.
The browser is good. I don't use Bing. So, I saved Google to my phone and use it instead. The BB is a very adaptable phone to other OS's. I can create Word, PP or Excel documents on my phone. It's preloaded. It can play songs from my iTunes account, too.
So, if you want a phone that is compatible with all the others, the Z10 is it. Others will knock it because they have different expectations. It's as good as any other phone out there. It's better in some ways. Not as good in others. The swiping technique can take some time to get used to, but it's not rocket science.

Just awesome!!!

Phone owned for less than a month

I love this phone so much and the OS is just the best in the market.
Well done blackberry! Hope to see someday a BB10 phone with quad core and a 10+ megapixel cam.
But even with only a dual core the Z10 is incredible FAST!

Buy RIMM

Phone owned for less than a month

Bill Gates was right: it all comes down to software. As I stood at the ATT store several years back with my 87/8800 brick (solid as a rock), I could have chosen the iPhone or BB Torch. I picked the torch. Why? Because it had touch but the iconic keyboard in one. At the time it was an ideal combo. I later regretted it when ridiculed by colleagues, friends and family telling me "BB's dead - they screwed up bad". Then, just a few days ago, I went back to the same store, looked at all the alternatives (Samsung, MOT, iPhone, HTC, NOK and SNY). Of all, NOK was the most solidly built but Sony felt quite good in my hand.

Disclaimer: I'm looking for a phone (#1) and other stuff (#2 priority). If I wanted an awesome camera, I would probably buy a device made specifically for that purpose. But that's just me. Since everyone's expectations are much higher now, we want more and we want it for less. So, after ruling out the iPhone 5 (piece of crap if only because I can't expand the memory) and the Samsung (ditto but because android UI really needs work and the device itself is of cheap quality) and the HTC (again device quality), I was left with the Nokia Lumia, Sony whatever and the trusty BB.

My main gripe with the older BB OS was the lack of apps. But now, that limitation is GONE! I can load android apps onto my BB! Soon someone will make a hypervisor for iOS. So apps (aka software) is no longer the issue. Still waiting for Skype though. But you get the idea. Now I get the reliability of the BB platform, the apps I want, the security I want and the syncing which I think is something that most people forget and take for granted. If the military and DoD prefer this device platform, then I prefer it, if only for piece of mind. If foreign governments fight BB over encryption, that's a good thing. IT IS SAFE. iBite? Milky Way 4? Give me a break. This is a faster more extensible platform that will allow BB to excel in making the high-end devices you actually enjoy just holding when using it. The multi-tasking, runtime environments, keyboard input features are all top-of-the-line. Not to mention easy networking, VPN, BB Messenger (which I hope they plug-into iMessage and other stuff... that would destroy facetime if done so that one could communicate to any device type from bbm).

So what's wrong with

What's wrong with Z10? This is a personal thing but I would have gladly paid an extra $100-200 (paid $200 with some upgrade promotion at ATT) if it had a carbon/titanium reinforced cage thing that thinkpad T-series has, and even maybe some new scratch/crack-resistance glass and cage. I would pay more to have it unlocked so I could use anywhere in the world or tether it to my laptop.

What's wrong with BB10? It's young and I want to know RIMM is going to be around and not cannibalized in some corporate takeover like Compaq and many other great companies. That being said, software can be upgraded. Is it perfect? No. Get much better? Yes. Thumbs Up!

Z10 is awesome

Phone owned for less than a month

The phone sure resembles its new motto: Re-designed, Re-engineered, and Re-invented.
Major change and improvement from all the previous devices but most of all is no more sand timer.
Time-shift sure is unique, now we can easily choose the best moment from the frames, keyboard is superb not forgetting it word suggestion makes typing easier. Blackberry Hub is kinda the same like Message in the previous devices but more organized and easily used. The UI is so fresh and new but still user friendly once you get used to it. Don't forget to try the Story Maker, it's an end user videos and pictures editor so that you can make up a story with your videos or pictures or even both; combine them, arrange them and make one great story to show and share to your friends. Overall, it is a great phone, be sure to have it!!

Blackberry Z10 review by phonemart.pk

Phone owned for less than 3 months

Blackberry have certainly come up with a great device and software this time. Its an excellent device with great new features. Fluid, responsive and fresh looking interface. BB OS10 certainly provides a new attractive alternative to Android and IOS. The only thing missing is the quantity and quality of apps, They are working hard to get all major apps. there have already more than 100,000 apps there but most of them are ported from Android. Even for a new OS its a great start. Highly recommended

Excellent Device

Phone owned for less than a month

Blackberry have certainly turned it up. from hard ware to soft ware, this device is excellent. So fluid and responsive. I love the new OS10....and the apps, well they would need more apps though, as long as I could clone from the android......I have no problem with it. Business wise, this phone is fantastic. Thumbs up BBM.
