Description

The Passport comes with a 4.5-inch square touch display with a 1440 x 1440 resolution and 453 PPI pixel density. Thanks to the integration of a touch-sensitive panel inside the hardware QWERTY keyboard below the display, your fingers almost never get in the way of reading or otherwise interacting with on-screen content. The Passport's hardware brawn is supplied by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and a spacey 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of expandable internal storage. Running BB OS 10.3, the productive smartphone is powered by a huge 3540 mAh battery, which BlackBerry said lasts 30 hours. Although the device ships with a 13MP camera with optical image stabilization, and a powerful processor, 4K video recording isn't being advertised anywhere, but it is said that the feature will come in an update.

Would you "flipout" if you had to use this smartphone today? – Odd Phone Mondays
Cast your mind back to 2010, which is oddly a long time ago, despite feeling recent, at least to me. Android was still at version 2.1. Smartphones running it came in all sorts of crazy shapes and sizes. One such was the Motorola Flipout – a square-is...

10 phones with terribly designed physical keyboards
Rarely spotted in the wild nowadays, there was a time when the majority of smartphones featured physical keyboards. In the early 2000s, we saw a barrage of these so-called "smartphones" attempting to bridge the gap between the phone and mobile comput...

BlackBerry Priv, Passport, Classic and other models no longer available from BlackBerry in the U.S.
It was back in September of 2015 that many of us heard the phone name BlackBerry Priv for the first time. Prior to a tweet from reliable tipster Evan Blass, BlackBerry's Android powered QWERTY slider was known by its code name, the Venice. Shortly th...

Phone owned for more than a year

My daily work drive. Awesome device.Typing experience amazing. Thanks BlackBerry to invent a such machinery. Love it. I think BlackBerry 10 is advance OS. But it's sad BlackBerry could not able to bring light on it due to poor marketing. As a device Passport has no match. For people apps gap is an issue but for me Passport is a communication tool. Work done productive way and keep thing secured. I don't want to be a slave of my phone, I want it to be my slave.

Why is this amazing phone so underrated by biased reviewers?
Phone owned for less than 3 months

I am disappointed with the above review and I do not think that the author is unbiased in his opinion and in his 7.5 rating!
The following reasons made me personally choose the Blackberry Passport over an iPhone 6 in 2016:
(1) Security: Apple and Android are really late in the game and several years behind BlackBerry! Remember in 2014 (!) when Sony was hacked that the Sony executives grabbed old BlackBerry phones to Sony’s Rescue!
(2) A really long battery life, up to 1 ½ days with extreme usage (calls, e-mails, browsing web, streaming Netflix etc).
(3) Screen real-estate, high resolution, and 1:1 layout
(4) Exceptinal construction and use of Gorilla Glass 3 protective covering (no bending of phones ever like the iPhone 6! The BlackBerry Passport was found to be exceptional robust in drop tests)!
(5) Telephone call capabilities and associated antenna enhancements, including stereo audio output and 4 mics for excellent audio pickup and noise cancellation, especially for conference calls on speakerphone, unreached by other smartphone companies
(5) E-mail processing, organization, and handling of attachments in the Hub has not been beaten yet.
(6) The keyboard design with integrated on-screen extra rows of keys that are actually convenient to use, and the ability to use the entire surface of the keyboard to scroll through documents and web pages, rather than running your finger across the display.
(7) Customizable keyboard shortcuts for fast performances!
(8) Easy access over PC and ability to access phone and use it as a hard drive!
(9) BB 10 Operating system functionality, organization, and ability to run both Blackberry World and Android apps that work!
(10) Setting up different user profiles and alert modes (ring, vibrate, LED, and silent) for calls, emails and messages. This is state of the art phone and software design!
(11) Finally, I am everyday again impressed with the multi-color LED capabilities for message and call alerting without opening my phone or need to go into the hub!
And much, much more..!
