I do not have to say anything about this phone. It is just great. It is better than my 8330. When I got this phone I thought it was a joke. As time went by the phone showed me its qualities. It is a good phone.
I had the Sprint 8330 and recently switched to the 8530. I loved the the 8330 and was hesitant to switch. Things I love about this phone:new OS is great, much faster, smoother and up to date. Wifi connectivity is awesome, track pad is major upgrade over rollerball, messaging and email is better. Things I dont like: definitely feels cheaper, keyboard is smaller, camera has no flash, battery cover is cheap and flimsy. Overall I would stll take this phone over the 8330 .
I am a sprint costumer and got this phone because my 8330 was damaged, so I called (the insurance) in order to get a replacement. I was told I will get a better phone. I thought this can not be true new phone for free. Then I thought where is the catch? The new phone does not have flash and it looks so cheap. when I got the phone I was so happy for the first day. As time went by, I realized that the phone had a short battery life and bad call quality. The OS runs buttery smooth . I was so upset because the person from the Insurance told me that I can not back up with this replacement. Now I am stuck with a phone that I do not like. I like the fact that the 8530 has WiFi.
if you have a little more money get the tour or wait until the new tour 2 is for sale.
if u want a smart phone by blackberry get this phone cuz it feels cheap but just get a silicone case for it u will like it i had the env touch hted it this phone is the best non touch screen phone out there i love track pad its better than the trackball the battery life is awsome the screen is big the camera sucks but i dont use it tht often i recomend it to a starting smart phone user the tour is overated
this phone is awsome get it its better than the tour because this has track pad u will like this phone if u want a blackberry for cheap . its the best beginer smart phone out there in my opinion i switched from samsung rogue hated the rogue the touch screen on the rogue sucked and keyboard sucked only get the blackberry curve 8530 . there is a few phones better than this phone but theyre not non touch screen
Its such a great phone, it's my first blackberry/smart phone and it does everything that I want it to. the keyboard is a bit small I have larger thumbs so I wish they could have done this model with the 8330 keyboard but I can live, speaker is amazing. the media keys uptop are helpful, the trackpad is very nice. My battery died within a day i took it to verizon and apparently if u hold the menu button it shows u everything that u have running, you cant just hit the end key you have to go to menu and hit close or else itll keep running and drain ur battery especially pandora the guy said, so I closed all mine. they reset it and it works fine now. I will probally become a full time bb user now and I am tempted to buy an impulse watch even tho I dont use mine that much but it looks liek a great accesory. But i love the phone it works great for me. its fast too. RIM is stupid and for some reason didnt put a flash on the camera....which is like downgrading...but its whatever its still a fine camera
This is a grate phone. I got this phone right after it came out to replace my 8330. I like the way it looks sleek and black and i also like how light it is. The phone has a faster processor and more ram and I can really tell the ifference. I also like the new dedicated media buttons. I have found myself using the often. Now the camera is only 2 mega pixels with no flash, but i can care less. I have a nice camera for taking photos so to all you out there complaining about the camera GO BUY A REAL CAMERA! I love this phone and think that Blackberry did a grate job.
I don't know what these other 2 reviewers are talking about, but I have had a great experience so far with my 8530. The keyboard is very tactile and responsive. The screen does have a lower resolution, yes, but it's still a lot better than the curve 8330 (which is the phone I upgraded from). The trackpad is amazing! It is so much better than the trackball and for those of us who are not on At&t or T-mobile, it is nice to finally have a blackberry that has the trackpad. I am thrilled that this phone has wi-fi and although I do not use it very often, it is definitely a nice feature to have. I really enjoy having the expanded flash memory for more applications. The 5.0 software is a much needed improvement as well, it runs smoothly and I love the threaded SMS. Overall, a much needed phone in Verizon's blackberry line up!
I have used just about every blackberry out there. The curve 2 is not the easiest or fastest berry but it is still a nice phone. A huge dissapointment was the camera. 2.0? Pretty much every phone on the market these days is pretty much standard with that. As is the older 8330. The Wi-Fi is awesome but really does not make a difference for Verizon users as you almost always have your 3G coverage and really have no use for it; but it is a great feature. The keyboard is great. The buttons are pretty good sized and they are easily seen. Unlike the 8330. The track 'pad' is not so appealing. Although the trackball almost always bugged out on us constant berry addicts, it is alot more accurate and faster. It would take some getting use to but it will grown on you. The color choices are a big step up. The usual black and silver tends to get a bit bland and it was very hard to be the odd one out with those colors. With a stunning purple for Sprint and Verizon and white for AT&T and T-Mobile, it is a sight for sore eyes. The web browser is the same as pretty much any blackberry, quick and very easy to use. I noticed the previous review and the author said it either didnt show the picture or it was choppy, that is very wrong and this person was obviously a disgruntled customer. Also if you had a problem with your blackberry you do not have to call RIM them selves you are supposed to call Tech Support or go in to your local carriers store. I work at Verizon Wireless store and I have for about 3 years and I have never once called RIM for a blackberry problem not unless you purchase the phone from RIM themselves. Which is a poor idea because they do jack up the prices seeinf you are not signing a contract with them. The previous review does not give this phone proper justice and should be reconsidered. To break it down
Pros:
Great Keyboard
Wi-Fi connectivity
Size and weight of the phone
Color choices
Sleek
My Blackberry Curve 8330 arrived in a box for the 8530, so I am assuming that the 8530 is the updated version of the 8330. I have to say that at first I really liked the phone. However, as I used it more and more, I began to really not like it very much at all. I would also say that getting hold of Blackberry if you have a problem is almost impossible.
The cursor often has to be moved several times and does not scroll easily. It also has a tendency to slip down and get the wrong thing. The options are not as thorough as they should be and it is impossible to permanently remove icons that you will never use, such as AOL, etc.
Browsing on the Internet is cumbersome and often the pictures on the websites are totally screwed up or not there at all. I do like the Qwerty keyboard very much, although when I tried to set contact speed dialing, it disappeared and is unusable.
