The last great Zenfone, still going well in 2025.

Phone owned for more than a year

The Zenfone 10 was the first Zenfone I bought new, and the last one, too, since the Zenfone 11 Ultra and 12 Ultra are unimpressive. The 5.9" OLED is nice to look at, although my particular OLED has some burn-in on it now, as well as temporary image retention. On the topic of size, the phone is thicker than average. The battery still gets me through a day just fine, but it's not as impressive as it was on Android 13. This brings me to charging, where I don't mind the 30W "HyperCharge" that much. The camera is fine, not the best, but perfectly fine for most uses. I really like the 6-axis gimbal stabilization OIS, it's a very cool feature! I also like the "Light Trail" feature, allowing for more creativity in the camera. Speaking of the camera, the lens (or back cover) on my ZF10 isn't sealed right, and there's some dust under the lens after a year of usage. However, I don't notice the dust. Haptics aren't the best, but aren't bad, either. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 still holds its own against newer SoCs like the 8 Elite, at least in my day-to-day usage. My usage is mostly social media, web browsing, and some camera usage, without gaming. The 8 Gen 2 works great in those regards. I do somewhat regret going with only 128GB of storage (and there's no microSD slot), but I've been using it more wisely these days. Speakers are okay. They're phone speakers. While I primarily use my Nothing Ear (a) with this phone (and they work great), the 3.5mm jack is nice to have. I'm not the biggest fan of Asus' software support, with only 2 major upgrades, which even back in 2023 wasn't a whole lot. Asus' ZenUI is a pretty light skin of Android, but I wish Asus still allowed users to unlock the bootloader. Overall, I still enjoy the ZF10, coming up on 2 years of usage!
