Description

The iPhone XR is an affordable, yet still very capable alternative to the iPhone XS. It features the same iPhone X-inspired design, along with gesture navigation and Face ID, and the same groundbreaking A12 Bionic system chip. The 6.1-inch screen, however, is an LCD one instead of OLED and has lower, but still Retina-level resolution. The camera on the back is just a single, 12MP unit, but it has a larger sensor and larger pixels for better image clarity. The iPhone XR will come in a variety of fresh new colors, including blue, yellow, coral, and red.

This device is also known as Apple A1984, Apple A2105

Worst Camera
Phone owned for less than a year

I “upgraded” from an iPhone 8 Plus when the new iPhone XR came out. It was free and I thought I would give the Face ID tech a try and get a feel for the A12 processor. The phone’s performance is flawless, haven’t had any lag or issues running high end games/multi-tasking. Face ID took some getting used to but i have adapted and cannot complain. The only MAJOR drawback to the iPhone XR, is its horrible camera. Almost every picture is blurry except for when you’re taking a picture far away. I’ve played with the settings to try and achieve a better picture quality but the efforts have had no effect. The zoom is good but what’s the point of it when the object(s) you’re ‘shooting’ is completely blurred out? The 4K video quality is decent but still brings noticeable issues when zooming in. It is even worse when taking both pictures and videos on Snapchat. The camera on my iPhone 8 Plus was phenomenal! I had nothing but endless compliments for the precision, quality, and design of that phone’s rear camera. Switching to the iPhone XR has its perks for the improved performance, screen to body ratio, etc. It’s only downfall is the terrible picture quality.

Good enough
Phone owned for less than 3 months

This is my first iPhone and I can say I've been sort of an Android fanboy because I've owned every iteration of the Galaxy S series, except the S5 and S8 when I chose the Note 4 and the Note 8 respectively. My first Android phones were always rooted and modded to fit my taste. But a couple of years ago, I felt smartphones were starting to get boring, mainly because user experience became so standardized and innovation slowed down.

So I was boring and I thought why not give an iPhone a shot and after reading some reviews and without putting much thought into it I bought the XR and here I am. My conclusion is the same, smartphones, even flagships, have become utilitarians objects and experience through platforms is similar. I don't miss Android the same way I wouldn't miss iOS. I know this iPhone is not QHD, has big bezels and no telephoto camera, but that's it, everything else is a fluid, yet simple, experience and maybe I'm old enough to admit that's OK for me now.

Awesome phone!
Phone owned for less than 3 months

I had this phone for about 2 months and is incredible, i had the iPhone XS Max first and it was a great phone, but the size was a bit much, so i "downgraded" to the iPhone Xr and boy i was wrong, this phone is a perfect size and battery is amazingly better than the iPhone XS Max, yes the screen edges are far more attractive in the XS Max, but the iPhone Xr is unique. I have to say i feel great with my decision to "downgrade".
