Best phone on the planet

Phone owned for less than 3 months

This phone is simply amazing . The difference between this and my mum's Note II is night and day . Everything is superb on the 5S , great display with excellent viewing angles and color reproduction , the best camera is even better with new features like burst mode , slow-mo , and TrueTone flash , Touch ID is a killer feature , I mainly use it for purchasing apps and music , I know most if these features are in Android for years , but they are half-baked , Apple takes its time to perfect every single feature and the results are amazing . I hope that Apple will stay on top forever .

Not so new phone with improved hardware and same OS

Phone owned for less than a month

The iphone 5S is a new smartpohne introduced by apple with ios7,same OS and begging for changes which keyboard can't be cahnged, browser can't be changed and so many things can't be changed. It has a aluminium body and impreesive 64bit A7 chips with M7 GPU which rocks and can beat some 6 month old Android deviced but not to Note 3,Z1 and G2 which are even some weeks earlier than this phone's release.Touch ID is quite good but not so impressive that it works only 6 to 7/10 times. The iOS7 has occational lag due to OS not optimised for 64 bit chip is to be blamed.8mp camera with dual-tone flash works great in low-light but I'd like to beg for better perfromence in normal light or bright light condition,it still fails like HTC one but thanks to 8MP it can perfroem better.Like really? no pause in video recording? just mono recording still? No screen changes and it isn't impressive at all and screen size is too small,I am ok with small screen but 4 inch is too small for me. Parallax effect is like 2-year old application from Android and it is introduced as featuers on this phone.Commander center is something like Android notification bar? and Siri stil lags behind comapre to Google now perfromence. Like Ok google can activate the phone voice without even touching the phone and it is rocking.App store apps are good,in fact great I'd say but the boundaries will make you to pay in-appprchase without mercy and it is a pain in the ass because they are endless and AUD100 is like nothing in the game. All in all,it is a good phone just 5/10.(pass) But good news is that apple is working on bigger screen, higher resolution and better hardware optimization, hope are that I am really looking forward to it.

iPhone 5s

Phone owned for less than 3 months

this phone is an O.K. phone. Even while it is fast, for the money i just didnt feel i was getting 700 or 800 dollars worth when i held it in my hand... Sure the build quality is great but it felt like it was lacking something. All i felt was that i had a small, fast phone that shot good pics and did what it was told... was it worth the money? i dont think so at all.

Apple iPhone 5s is one of the best

Phone owned for less than a month

This phone I use in just a few days, but I really like it. Strong, beautiful, functional, fast, good camera. Everything you need is on this phone. Clearly, there are a few cons, but Apple's iPhone 5s is one of the best phones currently. Maybe there is not much difference between the iPhone 5 and 5s, but still chose a newer model, simply because it has a more powerful processor, improved camera optics, Touch ID and turned golden version, but for me it is - the best.

Display Quality, Camera, and UI Speed make for the best iPhone to date!

Phone owned for less than a month

The first thing you will notice about the 5s when you turn it on is how incredible the display is. When I upgraded from my 4, I had no clue the display was something I would notice, but I was wrong. It's clearer, brighter, and overall simply better than any previous iPhones. The second thing you'll notice is how fast the phone is. The UI is speedy and the actual running of functions has already been proven as a benchmark leader. Also, one of the best features a lot of people will take for granted, is the iCloud restore. All I had to do was plug in my Apple ID and my 5s now looks exactly as my 4 did. I'm not talking simply downloading the same apps, I'm taking every single feature and saved data is in tact. Missed calls, texts, app data, history, everything. I never really knew how much my automatic backups were doing for me, but I can now put it in the huge plus category for Apple. Touch ID is a cool feature in theory, but I'm 50/50 on it thus far. It doesn't always recognize my finger on the first, second, or even third try, which can become annoying. Overall, if you're a previous iPhone owner or new to Apple, the 5s is a no brainer. Happy Android users probably won't find that much value, but at this point, iOS and Android can be considered equally superior systems and really only a matter of personal preference separates them. I give the phone a 9 out of 10...only because no phone will ever be "perfect". It's perfect for my needs and I'd recommend it to anyone, but there's always room to improve.

More than S.

Phone owned for less than a month

iPhone 5S is one of the best phone I have ever seen . It is extremely snappy and fluent . iOS 7 makes the phone easy and simple to use . The updated camera system is just gorgeous , better than most 13-megapixel competitors out there . Touch ID , is something really useful . It works rather well . It is easy , simple and fast , making it very enjoyable to unlock the phone everyday ( I hate entering password ) . And best of all , all iLife and iWork apps will be available for free on the App Store which is just killer . The only thing is if it is a Full-HD display and have a long-lasting battery . I will have nothing to complain about .

Phone that is like a wingman

Phone owned for less than a month

A essential Tool in life nowadays and Apple has made thee biggest improvment in software and hardware on the iPhone. keep up the amazing work.
Nice upgrade from the 4S and its funny how in terms of overall quality the only phone that comes close is the iPhone 5C. Speed is incredible and battery is perfect for the everyday activites. And iOS7 helps iProducts shine.

My bro's 5S

Phone owned for less than a month

My bro owns a 5s and I've been using it for a week, feel awesome. Premium design, rich look, fast and fluidic, excellent voice call quality. Two things I may feel uncomfortable with are the 4" screen and heavy iTunes dependency , its kinda hard sometimes.

If you love iPhones, you'll love this phone.

Phone owned for less than a month

First off, I mainly got the phone because I love the new iOS. The apps are clean looking and beautifully designed. Everything is organized for you. There aren't many things I hate about this device, but I'm annoyed by the small screen size and resolution isn't as high compared to the S4 or the HTC One, the battery isn't the best although it charges quickly, and the camera is pretty good, but just wished it had more pixels with the same technology that way night time pictures would be a bit more sharper. Other than those minor things, I love this phone. It's smooth and fast. The specs look bad on paper, but on everyday usage it's not noticeable. You don't need 2 or 3 GB RAM for it to perform well. No stutter or lag. I had a Note 2 and I went with this phone because of the OS. The Note 2 was a fantastic phone and sometimes I miss the bigger screen and android's customization, but my phone lagged and froze so many times; I always had to take the battery out for it unfreeze. Coming from such a large phone, the iPhone didn't seem to small for me. Actually I kind of preferred not having such a big phone all the time (though that wasn't my main problem with the Note 2). I got used to it very quickly. I have a Mac and iPad, and having an iPhone is just perfect for me and my environment because everything is just synced together with ease. I'm not a power user. I use my phone for texts, calls, videos, photos, and minor games like angry birds or despicable me in my spare time. If you have an android phone and love the features that come with it, I wouldn't recommend this phone.

Best Smartphone On The Market

Phone owned for less than a month

Apple has done it again. Sure, its the same design as last year, with most of the same features, but then again, the iPhone 5, from last year, was the best smartphone last year. So, they took the best looking phone, with the best build quality(metal and glass, rather than cheap, Fisher Price Plastic), and built upon that, in the iPhone 5s. Now, they've added a better camera with slow motion; a finger print scanner; a 64bit processor(first of its kind in a smartphone); and an improved software with more useful features(iOS 7). Benchmark tests prove that this is the fastest smartphone on the market, as of today's date. I am smartphone user that prefers iPhones over android, because I prefer the premium build quality, superior apps, over the air phone backup and restore, and the fact that when Apple releases a software update, just about all of the Apple devices can get it at the same time,...all unlike Android devices, which suffer severe fragmentation.

Worth the wait

Phone owned for less than a month

I've had an iPhone 4 going on 3 years. Wow it was a great phone. The last time I kept a phone that long? Oh never. The reliability, and no need to upgrade has me convinced, apple products are built to last. I sit here typing this on my 5 year old MacPro. Sure people may cry bigger screen, bigger camera, but for me well I like a nice (quality) small phone. I don't want a 5" screen. Yes, I'm a camera bug, but no one ever doubted my pictures or video on my 4. No one knew it was a lesser device. So now with the 5s it's remarkable quality completely and totally all the way around. I don't need customized screens, I download apps to use them, not to view them on a screen without opening them. I don't need widgets when I have apps, especially when I have the best apps in the smartphone world. This phone is the most beautiful phone out there, its forward thinking, a phone I don't have worry with upgrading in a year, 2 years, 3 years, maybe even 4 years down the road. Thats saving me lots of money and headache. This is a greater phone than you can find anywhere else, built to withstand the speed and advances of technology.

Good Phone, but Not the Best!

Phone owned for less than a month

Wife went out and got the new phone. Its very similar to the old 5 with some minor improvements. Considering that its a NEW phone, they have not improved it as much and they should have. The market is moving much quicker than new apple products. Phone still has outstanding build quality! The screen is VERY SMALL compared to the S4. All ratings are compared to our other phone, the Galaxy S4.

An Honest Review

Phone owned for less than a month

Alright, as you can obviously see, the people before me have no idea about technology. I'll give you an honest review.

Build Quality: Great, as Apple normally is with their devices. No openings and it feels like one piece.

Reception: Like any normal phone, and I am not seeing any fallacies like the old 4 or 4s (whichever had the death grip issue).

Call quality: Great, like any other phone.

Internet: Extremely connected, but could use more sharing options. So average.

Multimedia: The screen hasnt been updated in a few years, as I would much rather like to watch movies or play games on a bigger screen. But the new support for hi-res games Apple added helps out here.

Camera: A good point and shoot. The true-tone flash gives better skin tones. Not on par with the Nokia Lumias though.

UI Speed: Surprisingly with the new iOS7, you can sense a small, small hit of lag during the new animations. If you turn them off it is fast as hell. I am sure they will be optimized in future updates though.

Everyday usage: Can't really find anything wrong with using the 5S as a daily driver. All is well.

Text input: Again with the smaller size, it feels cramped. Nevertheless the keyboard is very good and very responsive.

Display: Display also hasn't been updated in a long time. I would have expected full HD by now or a bigger screen at least. It functions as the past iPhones have, but it is nothing new or exciting.

Battery: Average, I am getting a rather large drain from using LTE but it may be due to the phone being brand new. We'll see what happens.

Additions: The fingerprint scanner is a good feature. Works rather well but is kind of awkward. Again, something to get used to.

Overall: Other than the fingerprint scanner, I can't help but feel that I am holding an iPhone 5. It doesn't feel like a new device or innovation. It's a great phone, but it doesn't "blow my mind".
