I really enjoyed its good looks and resolution. It also perfectly fits in my hands. Very light compared to iPhone 4/4S. I got this just because of the Starmaker app. But i still have to say i still prefer an android phone specifically Samsung phones because I can be more productive and efficient. in my own opinion, this phone is for people who doesn't care much how everything is being done in their phone and those who hate to configure things.
I upgraded as soon as the iPhone 5 came out and gave my 4S to my wife. The screen size increase in length was "just enough" to keep it useful for one hand operation. IMO the size is outstanding as the width is perfect for one hand operation. Personally I do not like having to use two hands for a cell phone like is necessary in the larger Samsung devices. Absolutely love the thinner design, less weight and the aluminum back, replacing the glass back. The speed of the A6 chip has me hooked, as I experience NO lag and the most responsive phone I have ever used. I use AT&T and have my own opinion with them, however in the LTE zones sometimes I feel the phone can actually out think me. I mean I touch the icon and instantly get results. IOS is very easy to learn and master and honestly who really cares about changing your screen look all the time. A smartphone should function to what you need it for and Apple has it down. Let the Android people concentrate on continuing to make changes and goofing with the useless modifications and such. If you want a quality smartphone who's call quality is IMO the best and response is outstanding, grab this one. As far as iTunes goes, yes, it is tight but there are ways to make things happen without having to pay a dime. I won't discuss that here but I have everything I need and don't need to worry about investing $$ to get them.
Same old same old...if you had the i4 I think if you want to stay with apple than get this. If you have the 4s stick with it until the 5s comes out. Personally I like the GS3 more but because I spent so much on apps etc I am sticking with apple; not to mention I really hate how android phones are replaced by better ones weekly it seems.
I know for some reason some people are dogging it more than they should. No phone out is as smooth or as dependable as it. The ease of set up and use are the very best. I have owned droids and really looked into the windows phone. They are both ok phones but they are not IPhones. Try for your self, don't go by other people's feelings.
this phone is good. i have it for less than a month and i know apple cause i had iphone 4s as well. ITS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I HAVE EVER MADE! i should never bought this phone! it has lots of goods but its not the best and that is what makes me fell sad about that one!
I love this mobile than any other thing
it's the best mobile i've ever used
it's faster than samsung galaxy S III 's quad core
8 mp better than every other mobile
4 inch it's the screen which is best suitable for a mobile
well optimized phone/fone,perfect size ,awesome build quality, good screen, hardware is enough to support any new thing......weight factor...camera quality is best out there, fast shutter speed...but very expensive !
iPhone 5 is a beast but, beautiful good looking one. You should all give it a try to feel that luxury in your hands, extremely responsive, one hand operated smoothly, battery is great and lasts even if you're a heavy user of games and social networking like i'm. I had a galaxy s3 blue one and it was large to fit in my bucket, laggy and battery is less than a day happy to get rid of it
could be better. about the size of the phone and the back material. but overall is the best phone on the market. nice display and very fast . maps is no ok. prefered google maps with street view . best place to get it at&t
I actually switched from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 and have an iPad 2 to accompany it, but definitely expected more from the phone.
Pros:
Love having LTE! It's amazingly fast and widely available with HSPA+ as a good back up.
Glad the back is no longer glass and is two toned. I have the white/silver model and it looks stunning for sure.
Siri is informative for the few times I've needed it.
Retina is still nice, and the text definitely looks crisp as ever.
Overall, the UI colour scheme adds a fresh look to it.
Cons:
Build quality itself may be great, but it's rather strange that there's no weight to this phone. Some people like it, some don't.
iOS is definitely getting stale. There's nothing new or useful. It may have the hardware over the 4S, but what's better on the software side on either?
Apps are not optimised and it definitely makes for an awkward experience. Maps app is pretty pitiful, true it's a first attempt and in "beta" per se, but Apple had another YEAR before their contract would be up. Passbook is somewhat of a fail, NFC integration with it would've made it more useful. Despite having a larger screen, landscape typing is STILL problematic (I do have slightly larger hands) but it feels like the keys barely moved even though there's more available space!
Camera is alright, but a few more options would be nice
Phone itself DOES lag, but compared to my 4 it's miles ahead. Sadly, I do have tons of apps that crash (including safari and mail) once in a while. Hopefully it's iOS 6 based.
Decent battery life with LTE. I'm a power user, but it mostly gets me through a day.
Strange issues with reception where it would fluctuate from 2-4 bars on 4g (not LTE) and data would not work entirely.
Overall, still a worthy upgrade from previous 4, mainly if you're decently tied down into Apple's ecosystem or have other reasons (like jail breaking for me) that keep you attracted to iPhones, but nothing innovative. The design and hardware is truly astounding, but the changes in the software from definitely keep it from being the phone of the year. Consider changing to Android/WinPhone8 especially with the Nexus 4 and Lumia 920 announcements recently if you're not too tied down by the ecosystem. Otherwise still a good phone.
I just upgraded to the iPhone 5 from a 4 and after about a week and a half, I'm just totally impressed. Apple really stepped up with the 4in screen and I have to say that the extra space is totally useful. I love watching videos on it's 16:9 widescreen-optimized retina screen- it just makes everything better. I'm glad Apple went with a 4incher versus something bigger because 4in is just the right size for the average user. I am that cell phone nerd and I'm not fond of the 4.5in+ screens because they are just too big. I see a HUGE improvement in the battery life, even with LTE enabled all the time. The call quality is great, even better than my old iPhone 4. I have come to love the design for its uniqueness and beauty. The only thing that erks me is that there are only a few apps that ARE optimized for the iPhone 5. I'm not a fan of the letterboxing that is being used, so if more developers could optimize their apps, that'd be great! Overall, I just love the iPhone and enjoy using it everyday!
There are lot of good things about iPhone and I wouldn't go there. However, here is the explanation of some cons I observed:
In two week of use, I observed static lines on keyboard and purple flare in bright light photos. Apple has replaced the phone, however camera issues are still there in new phone and Apple has suggested that it may be a phone design issue across the board.
Poor user interface - many of today's generations smartphone convenience is missing in iphone. Also, large screen became more inconvenient to operate, as most apps have Done/Back buttons at the top and home button, key board at bottom which is too difficult to operate with one hand.
Predictive input doesn't propose possible words.
Safari browser is limited to mobile sites by default..
Many more.. things summarized in cons..
I got this phone after the samsung Galaxy s3. I was expecting something that can satisfy me, but this phone didnt. Apple always had some innovations in their phone every time they announced their iphone, but this time, i could find any. I was very disappointed so i went back to my Galaxy s3
Best iPhone I've owned yet!!!! Love, Love it. Yes it has some small flaws that can be fixed. But NO phone is perfect!!! Wouldnt ever own another phone. Apple all the way for my family and I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very impressed with this phone, it's fast and smooth. Amazing camera! Best phone I've owned yet and definitely worth the upgrade from the iPhone 4. I love how the phone feels in the hand. LTE is fast on Verizon, I got speeds as high as 44MBPS down. You will not be disappointed with this phone.
the phone is good but i feel no difference between it and the 4S .. just the camera is better and the display is awesome but the screen is still small and not so comfortable in gaming or watchin movies !
unfortunately I expected more. since iphone 4s was very fast too
u can only notice the bigger screen and lte is only available at one carrier (t-com)
so lte won´t work in germany.. maps are a disaster, the build quality is very good but
its easy get scratches it allready had scuffs ,dents and nicks.. and i must use a bumper/case so now u cant notice the buildquality lol..
ios 6 is coming on 4s to so i felt that there is no need to switch from 4s to 5
everything feels the same except the lager screen...
sorry 4 my bad english
no complain about this phone.....
fast display , luxury quality for design , fast recharge battery , best UI....
really hard to find out bad thing about this phone.....
i just saw my friend just got this phone and i used only few minutes...and i just went to verizon store and got this phone right away ...
It is truely an improvement over the iPhone 4. I switch to this phone from my Samsung Galaxy S2, I also have a Samsung Galaxy S3. All in all the S2 is better performer and the 4s and i would be willing to say it is on par with the 5. From what i have seen so far the S3 is better than the 5 minus the screen, if i could get that screen on my S3 i think it would be the ultimate phone. one big draw back still is apple refusing to allow us to add microSD to the devices if we were to sum up the S3 to the i5 this is what i would say:
Screen: i5
Usability: equal
Speed: S3
Camera: S3 (the S2 was better still just looks like Apple has upgraded and if you don't believe me try taking a picture with the i4 or i5 in a dark lit area like a bar, it sucks where as the S3 and S2 are aweseom)
Compatibility: i5 (only because there are so many more devices out there that support the apple products and yes even though the connector has changed it is still great, don't see any clocks or radios coming out for Samsung or any of the other guys which you would think they would all get on borad and put the micro USB in the same place so that manufactures can make those devices for them)
From this I would say that the S3 is slightly better.
SO I just got the new Iphone 5 yesterday morning and and finding my self thinking more and more that this might be the the most near perfect phone out there. No it doesn't have those giant screen, and the Google maps with its infinite amount of data, nor does it look radically different at first glance from previous iPhones. The attention to detail and then nine you changes made to the design I believe show and even more innovative design and any other iPhone. It's easy to make a radical new design but have it be potentially problematic or not user friendly. Apple took the iPhone 4S and for design and improved everything that could've been improved in a way that would benefit the user the most. now as for the iPhone five in terms of performance quality and the user experience I believe that there is no phone out there that can match this. It speed is at times unbelievable, the 4g is mind blowing experience at times, and the call quality is one of the best out of any smartphone Ive heard. The camera which is already one of the best on the market is even better now and the low, near zero lack time between shots is outstanding. To describe this phone in one word I would say near-perfect. I don't know if any phone will ever be completely perfect in every way but right now I think this is the best user experience on a smartphone that a person can have.
So I was one of the crazy east coast people to actually wait up until 3:01am to pre-order the iPhone 5! Ordered black, 64 gb. Got it through Apple and paid full retail to avoid voiding out my unlimited data plan with Verizon.
Got the phone today. Probably the hardest was waiting impatiently for the iCloud restoration.
Resting it next to the 4S, the difference is noticeable. Sleeker, thinner and longer. All black with graphite instead of silver. Once restored to my settings, I was able to use the phone. Wifi seemed to be the same speed. Where I noticed the biggest difference was taking it outside and getting on the 4g network. On Verizon, the icon changes from 3g to "LTE" to signify 4g network.
The maps have some flaws- not exactly perfect with landmark locations and roads. But the 3d is a nice feature. I had to re-download youtube because I like that app and am unsure as to why they deleted it.
Also, its annoying that when using any app that hasn't upgraded to iOs 6, the app doesnt take up the whole screen. Instead, you get the smaller screen with 2 black bars on either side. Disappointing since you really want to use the whole screen!
The resolution is nice...and the camera is awesome. I haven't played around with the panorama yet, but intend to soon. I also like the new feature where you can FaceTime even when you are not on wifi.
Biggest problems- since there is the Lightening cable, you can't use any of your old chargers, cords and accessories that would plug in (like my alarm clock). Apple is selling a converter- but it is not available until October. Also, no one has car chargers! WHAT?!!! How long will that take? Same goes for getting a case for the phone. Luckily, the body of this phone is not as fragile. You can feel that it is sturdier.
So overall, very pleased with the phone- and am looking forward to all the accessories to become available.
