You may have thought the OnePlus 6 was unbeatable in terms of good value for money, starting at $529 in the US with a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage, as well as a sharp and trendy screen and dual rear-facing cameras.
But the Xiaomi-backed Poco F1 completely blows the OP6 out of the water, at least on paper, fetching as little as $300 with the same exact high-end features in tow as the ones listed above.
Of course, this self-proclaimed “master of speed” is unlikely to officially come stateside, instead challenging the OnePlus 6 on its most popular turf. The Poco F1 is slated to go on sale on August 29 in India, but two days earlier, the Pocophone F1 will be launched in France, Hong Kong, and Indonesia as well.
Obviously, we’re talking about the same exact product sold under two different names (for some reason), and the Pocophone F1’s price tags and specific commercial release dates in those three aforementioned global markets will be unveiled on August 27.
Xiaomi clearly has a good chunk of money allotted for the promotion of the Pocophone F1, with actual Paris, Hong Kong, and Jakarta announcement events scheduled for early next week.
If you’re looking for a European ballpark figure, just consider the OnePlus 6 costs €569 in France and Rs. 34,999 in India, while the Poco F1 starts at Rs. 20,999 in the latter country. To recap, this bad boy’s impressive specifications include a Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage space, a 6.18-inch 2246 x 1080 screen with a notch and 18.7:9 aspect ratio, both fingerprint and facial recognition capabilities, AI-enhanced 12 + 5MP dual rear-facing cameras, a single 20MP selfie shooter, extra-large 4,000 mAh battery, and super-advanced LiquidCool Technology.
