Spotify family account holders will get a free Google Home Mini starting tomorrow (UPDATE: live)
The conditions of the deal/s may have changed since the initial publishing of this post.
UPDATE: The special offer has been kicked off, ending December 31, with free Google Home Mini redemptions good through January 15, 2019. The terms and conditions are pretty straightforward, supplies are obviously limited, and sub-accounts ineligible.
A promotional partnership, unveiled earlier today, seems like the textbook definition of a win-win situation. This will technically come into effect tomorrow, November 1, allowing new and existing Spotify Premium for Family plan master account holders to score a free Google Home Mini through December 31.
On the not so bright side of things, Spotify’s terms and conditions for the Premium Family offer stipulate all users subscribing to this type of service need to reside at the same address. And yes, the company has reportedly started verifying that’s the case, threatening rule breakers with plan deactivations.
If that doesn’t sound too inconvenient for you, the complimentary Google Home Mini is certainly a nice deal sweetener. Normally available for $49, the donut-sized device is among the most popular smart speakers of both the US and the entire world.
Frequent promotions like this one may have crucially contributed to that, although given its tiny footprint, you’ll probably be amazed at how many things it can do. In addition to streaming music (with your voice), all the other key Google Assistant features are supported, from online search to smart home controls and movie playing on a Chromecast-equipped TV.
