All the exciting new smartphones coming out in September 2019
As the summer comes to an end, we’re preparing for this year’s second smartphone release season. Last year October was the busier month in that regard, but it seems in 2019 most manufacturers prefer to start things rolling as early as possible. Having all the latest developments at their disposal, the upcoming devices will be some of the best new phones you'll be able to buy in 2019, no matter which price range you're interested in. Here's what we can expect to see in the next 30 or so days:

September 5: HMD Global to bring updated Nokia midrangers and flagship

The consumer electronics expo IFA begins on September 6, but HMD Global, the company making Nokia-branded smartphones, has an event scheduled the day before the official start. What’s expected to be announced during the event are the second updates of the Nokia 5, 6 and 7 as well as a revamp of Nokia’s flagship. The Nokia 9.1 PureView, as the rumors suggest it will be called, will be the company’s first 5G capable smartphone. There will be, of course, a non-5G version as well, which we’re hoping will offer a more polished experience than the Nokia 9.

September 6: LG and Sony to unveil their latest flagships and Samsung might finally release the Galaxy Fold

The first day of IFA is expectedly the busiest when it comes to announcements as companies want to showcase their latest models throughout the exhibition. LG released a teaser that shows a dual-screen device, which pretty clearly points to an updated version of its LG V50 ThinQ, which came with a second screen accessory. There might be a second smartphone announced as well, another update of the G8 with support for a second screen as well.

Sony, on the other hand, is rumored to have prepared its second flagship for 2019, the Xperia 2, for IFA release. The Xperia 1 is a bit of an odd-ball and its successor appears to be following its steps. This doesn't bold very well for Sony, but still, we're hoping for something exciting!

And last, but definitely not least, Samsung is said to be gearing for an official re-release of its infamous Galaxy Fold on the same day as well. As you probably know, the device was delayed due to issues with its foldable display that came up just days after journalists got to test it. The word on the street is that Samsung has ironed out all the flaws and is ready to put the expensive device back in the hands of consumers. We’re all waiting to see how it will play out this time.

September 10: Apple to announce iPhone 11 and its “Pro” siblings, Apple Watch 5 as well

Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated days of the year for smartphone enthusiasts (we know Android fans will tune in as well!) is the release of the iPhones. Just like last year, we’re expecting Apple to reveal three new iPhone models. This year, however, rumors point to a change in the naming of the devices. The iPhone XR will be replaced by the iPhone 11, while the XS and XS Max will be succeeded by the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Most hardware changes and even the design of the phones have already been leaked, but what software goodies Apple has prepared for us is still anybody’s guess (besides iOS 13, obviously). Additionally, the new Apple Watch Series 5 is expected to make an appearance as well.

September 19: Huawei to reveal the Mate 30 series

Huawei is the second-biggest smartphone maker right now, but the ongoing trade war between the US and China keeps taking the air out of its sails. The company is set to announce its second set flagships for 2019, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro, alongside the new Kirin 990 SoC on September 19, but the release could be spoiled by the news that there won’t be any Google apps on the new devices. If that’s indeed the case when the phones hit the market, Huawei will have a hard time selling them outside of China. Either way, it's worth checking out what new tech Huawei has been working on.

September 26: OnePlus to announce the 7T and 7T Pro

OnePlus made quite an impact with the 7 Pro and now people are eagerly waiting to see if the company will be able to outdo itself in a significant way or we’ll just see a slight rehash of the devices we got earlier this year. We already have some promising information leaked about the 7T. The 7T Pro will undoubtedly be the star of the show, however, and so far rumors show that it will be quite similar to its predecessor. The September 26 date is expected to be for the India release with another event in early October for the official US/EU announcement.

This post will be updated if other announcement dates from major manufacturers are released.
