New app adds sleep tracking to the TicWatch Pro; deal cuts up to $50 off the price
The conditions of the deal/s may have changed since the initial publishing of this post.
There are many who consider the TicWatch Pro to be one of the best Wear OS powered smartwatches available. The device tracks your physical activities (including counting steps), monitors your heart rate, streams music, offers over 1,000 watch faces, comes with Google Assistant, Google Pay and has GPS built-in. With an IP68 rating, the watch can be submerged to a depth of nearly 5-feet for up to 30-minutes.
The manufacturer of the timepiece, Mobvoi, has listed a new app in the Google Play Store that adds a feature to the TicWatch Pro and TicWatch Pro 4G LTE (via 9to5Google). The name of the app gives away its functionality: TicSleep. The app measures the quality of your sleep every night as long as the watch is worn on your wrist "snugly but comfortable." The timepiece must be worn throughout the night. The app reports "an in-depth analysis of the time you spent sleeping, along with your heart rate during every stage of your sleep cycle." The data will appear on the TicSleep watch face and the TicSleep app on the watch or on the phone. As time goes on, more and more sleep data is created and the watch will provide users with a reading showing the quality of sleep received the previous night compared to a seven-night average. That can provide users with the first indication that something is not right with their bodies.
Both the TicWatch Pro and TicWatch Pro 4G LTE models are on sale for a limited time
The TicSleep app uses AI to figure out when the person wearing the watch has fallen asleep. AI also powers the app's "Smart Alarm" by determining if the user is in a light sleep. If so, the alarm uses vibration rather than an ear-piercing noise for a more "gentle" awakening. Mobvoi notes that "Most adults should try to get 8 hours of sleep each day. You alternate between NREM(light, deep ) and REM sleep as the night progresses. Your watch's sleep tracking feature measures the quality of your sleep each night."
The TicWatch Pro now monitors sleep thanks to an app found in the Google Play Store
The TicWatch Pro features two different modes; in Smart Mode, the phone has all of the functionality of a Wear OS smartwatch and the battery will last as long as two days between charges. In Essential Mode, the watch just gives users essential data such as the time, date, steps taken and heart rate. While an AMOLED screen is used in Smart Mode, an LCD screen easily readable in bright sunlight is employed for Essential Mode giving the watch up to 30 days of battery life in this setting. Together, you can get a blended battery life of up to five days.
The timepiece features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a 400 x 400 resolution. The smartwatch is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor with 512MB of memory and 4GB of storage. The 4G LTE version of the watch has 1GB of memory. The TicWatch Pro can be purchased from Mobvai for $249.99. The 4G LTE model is priced at $299 and adds a safety feature called "SOS 911." In the event of an emergency, the tap of a button on the watch will dial 9-1-1 and broadcast the location of the user to the emergency call center.,
Data from sleep tracking can be found on the watch or a smartphone
While the TicWatch Pro 4G LTE is available from Mobvoi's online store and Amazon, it will only work on Verizon's 4G LTE network. So to reiterate, while Verizon won't be selling the TicWatch Pro 4G LTE, the watch will only connect to Big Red's wireless network.
While we mentioned the MSRP prices above, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that the TicWatch Pro is currently on sale at Amazon and Mobvoi for $50 or 20% off taking the price down to $199. The 4G LTE version gets a $20 or 7% discount to $279. These sale prices are for a limited time only.
