The Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup, the Korean tech giant's flagship series for 2023, consists of no less than 3 models - the standard Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23 Plus and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
While all three smartphones share the “Galaxy S23” moniker, they are just as similar as they are different. The most obvious way in which one can tell the three handsets apart is size. Given how important the latter is in the smartphone world, we have taken the time to see how Samsung’s newest flagships compare. Is bigger, necessarily better? Read along to find out.
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
Samsung has remained consistent when it comes to the physical dimensions of the different models in this year’s lineup. The smallest version comes in at 6.1”, which is about as compact as it gets in the world of Android smartphones. The middle-of-the-road S23 Plus features a 6.6” display, while the gargantuan S23 Ultra - a massive 6.8” one. Needless to say that the drastically different footprints will play a part in determining which Galaxy S23 model appeals to you.
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs Apple iPhone 14 vs Asus Zenfone 9
The petite vanilla Galaxy S23 is a dwarf by Android standards, with only a handful of smartphones having similar dimensions, with the most notable example being the Asus Zenfone 9 which comes in at 5.9”. Beyond that, almost all other Android handsets are bigger. This is where Apple comes into play, however. The Cupertino company’s smartphones have traditionally managed to retain smaller form factors than their Android counterparts. The iPhone 14 features the same display size as the Galaxy S23, while the iPhone 13 mini is the smallest out of the bunch, with an ultra-compact 5.4” screen.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus vs Apple iPhone 14 Plus vs Google Pixel 7
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus has always been the most awkward model in the lineup. With a 6.6” display, there is nothing quite like it - mostly because it seems that the golden standard in the Android world is 6.7”. Apple’s bigger iPhone 14 Plus is comparable with its 6.7” screen, but it is slightly bigger. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 7, with its 6.3” panel, is on the smaller side in comparison. Hence, if 6.6” is the sweet spot for you, there really is no alternative.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max vs Google Pixel 7 Pro
We are now playing in the league of (ultra) big handsets. All of the smartphones here are heavy hitters, in terms of performance, size and price point. The Galaxy S23 Ultra earns its name with its massive 6.8” display. In fact, barring foldables, the Ultra is one of the biggest smartphones on the market as a whole. The iPhone 14 Pro Max comes close, with its 6.7” screen, as does the 6.7” Google Pixel Pro, but they are, in the end, just a hair smaller.
