While everyone is excited for OnePlus’ next compact flagship, the 13T, the Chinese company has another surprise in store for its fans. OnePlus’ Nord family is about to get bigger … literally.
The upcoming OnePlus Nord CE5 is a beast of a phone in its mid-range segment. Obviously, the phone’s main selling point is the massive 7,100 mAh battery, which was tipped not long ago.
Unfortunately, the Nord CE5 doesn’t seem to bring too many other improvements over the previous model. Even so, a huge battery and a slightly better chipset make the Nord CE5 one of the best mid-range smartphones soon to be available on the market.
According to a recent leak, OnePlus has decided to switch to MediaTek for its next Nord series device. This means that the Nord CE5 will be equipped with a Dimensity 8350 processor, a solid upgrade over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which powers the Nord CE4.
As far as the display goes, rumor has it the Nord CE5 sports a 6.7-inch OLED flat display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. These specs match the Nord CE4’s display, so if there are any differences between the two, they’re probably too minor to matter.

The same goes for the camera configuration. Just like the Nord CE4, OnePlus’ upcoming mid-ranger features a dual camera setup that consists of 50-megapixel main (Sony LYT600 sensor) and 8-megapixel ultra-wide (Sony IMX882 sensor) cameras. Also, the Nord CE5 is said to feature a similar 16-megapixel selfie snapper.
It’s probably safe to assume that OnePlus will launch at least two versions of the Nord CE5. The cheapest one should pack 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, while the expensive model should come with 256 GB internal memory.
The Nord CE5 will also feature a single speaker and dual SIM support (hybrid slot). It’s also worth noting that the huge 7,100 mAh battery supports 80W fast charging speeds, something that not even Samsung’s most recent flagships don’t feature.
The Nord CE5 is expected to be introduced sometime in May and its price will probably be similar to that of the Nord CE4: $300 / €300.
