LG V50 ThinQ’s Android 12 update is now rolling out in the US
Despite the fact that it decided to quit the smartphone business last year, LG promised three years of Android OS updates even after its exit from the industry. True to its promise, the South Korean company released a couple of Android 12 update this year for various models such as the LG Velvet and LG V60 ThinQ.

Starting this week, yet another LG smartphone is getting its promised Android 12 update, the V50 ThinQ (via 9to5google). Since it’s been launched on the market back in 2019, this will be the last Android OS update the LG V50 ThinQ will receive, so keep that in mind if you’re planning an upgrade.

Available in the US, the Android 12 update is now rolling out to Verizon customers too, so if you’ve bought your LG V50 ThinQ from the Big Red, you’re now eligible for a software upgrade. There are no major changes to LG’s proprietary UI, but that’s quite understandable considering the company quit the business. However, you’ll be getting all the new features and improvements that Android 12 typically includes.

In related news, LG confirmed earlier this year that at least three smartphones will receive Android 12 updates (LG Q92 5G, LG V50 ThinQ, and LG V50S), and three other devices will get security updates (LG Q52, LG Velvet, and LG Wing). Also, the company revealed that the LG Wing and LG Velvet are the only ones that will also get Android 13, which will be released sometime in the third quarter.
