iPhone 4 available in China on Sep. 25
China Unicom has had the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS since Q4 of 2009, but both devices have lacked Wi-Fi capabilities. As of September 25th, China will gain access to the new iPhone 4, complete with Wi-Fi.
The iPhone 4 will be available through China Unicom with a 2 year contract, or off contract for the equivalent of $743 (16GB model) and $892 (32GB model). The release comes with the opening of two shiny new Apple retail stores, one in Beijing and one in Shanghai.
The previous iPhone offerings from China Unicom did not include Wi-Fi due to bureaucratic policies. The strange thing is that other devices like the iPod Touch have been free to include Wi-Fi. Enjoy FaceTime, China.
