iOS 7 to be officially released September 18th
There has been some debate over when we would see Apple release iOS 7. The early buzz said that it might be released today just after the new iPhone announcement, but that turns out to be incorrect. Apple has just announced that iOS 7 will be released to the public on September 18th, which makes us wonder if that will also be the release date for the new iPhones.
According to Apple, iOS 7 will be released on September 18th, and the company is expecting it to be downloaded by "hundreds of millions of people". As far as compatibility, iOS 7 will work with "iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, iPad mini, and iPod touch 5th gen." Of course, as we've detailed before, not all of the improvements of the new software will be available for older devices. Obviously, Siri improvements only work on devices that have Siri, etc.
Apple says that iOS 7 contains "over 200 features" including the completely revamped UI, the new share menu, AirDrop, new camera features, new "textured ringtones", better multitasking, better battery management, and Siri improvements.
