You may want to save the October 4 date for Google's Pixel 3 launch event
It’s all been quiet on the high-profile flagship smartphone release front for the past couple of months (as is often the case during summer), but next week’s highly anticipated Galaxy Note 9 announcement is set to kick off an entire series of exciting events for mobile enthusiasts of all allegiances.

Whether you’re a hardcore Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Google or even Sony fan, you probably have something big to look forward to over the next couple of months. Now, we obviously know the Galaxy Note 9 “Unpacked” date, we can easily guess when Sony might be planning to unveil the Xperia XZ3, and we also have a pretty good idea of Apple’s intentions.

Huawei and Google thus remained the fall’s two biggest question marks in terms of scheduling, but the latter may have (involuntarily) answered that question. In a careless ad posted on online marketing platform FameBit, the search giant let the cat out of the bag, seeking Canadian content creators to promote the Pixel 3 phone on YouTube starting October 4.

The advertising campaign description suggests the Pixel 3 is “launching” October 4, although we’re fairly sure that’s not the actual commercial launch date of the handset, but merely when Google plans to take the wraps off it.

Of course, the Pixel 3 will be joined by a Pixel 3 XL whenever it sees daylight, along with a Pixel Watch (maybe), a pair of second-generation Pixel Buds (most definitely), and an upgraded Pixelbook laptop with “smaller bezels” (almost certainly). Other stuff, like new Google Home smart speakers or a refreshed Daydream View VR headset, is also possible, although we haven’t heard much in terms of reliable gossip.

October 4, by the way, is the exact same date on which the Pixel 2 was announced last year, and the original Pixel the year before that, so today’s leak absolutely rings true.
