Google Pay comes to the Nordic countries thanks to a partnership with Nordea
After folding its numerous contactless payment services under the Google Pay (or G Pay) moniker in a bid to bring a more unified user experience across the board, Google's online payment platform is coming to the Nordic countries.
Thanks to a partnership with Finnish bank Nordea, customers of the bank from all Nordic countries can now use Google Pay at contactless payment terminals and in apps and online stores. This reflects a broader trend in the northern region, where several digital payment solutions have launched over the past few months.
"As the frontrunner of the digital transformation of banking, it’s important to offer a complete range of digital payment solutions to all customers. No other Nordic bank can match our broad range of digital payment solutions on all Nordic markets," said Erik Zingmark, Head of Transaction Banking at Nordea.
As of today, all Nordea’s consumer cards and Nordea First Card can be added to Google Pay.
